Striking Bops 2026

1. Al Calderon, “Smoke”

“Smoke” » Al Calderon / Create Music Group Inc. » 2026

Al Calderon, Smoke [📷: Al Calderon / Create Music Group Inc.]

“It’s something I’ve been working on / So scared of being alone.”
Amen to that, Al Calderon.  Some of these men and women don’t want the smoke!  Though if it involves you, my guy, you are special: fine as hell (that face, those muscles), and incredibly talented musically (that voice). What I’m saying is, Al, give me ‘all the smoke’ you are serving upon the short but sweet single, “Smoke”. The multifaceted out Puerto Rican and Cuban American singer, songwriter, and actor wrote “Smoke” with Joseph Tilley.  Tilley and Ajax produced it.

“Smoke” shines in all facets.  The lush, R&B-infused pop production is a win. Al Calderon excels with this sort of musical accompaniment.  As decadent as the instrumental ear candy is, the vocal ear candy is incredibly sweet.  Calderon delivers smooth, expressive vocals.  His instrument is gorgeous, just like him… The verses are tuneful, with the first (excerpted earlier) performed exclusively in English.  The second verse features Spanglish.  “Yeah, Yeah / ‘Toy enamora’o de esta relación / Porque somos tóxicos,” he sings agilely, and continues, “Si tu quieres a prender un blunt / Y vamos a fumar.” The second half returns to English, confirming the toxicity of the relationship. The crème de la crème is the memorable chorus, also performed in Spanglish:

“I finally found a way
(He don’t want the smoke, He don’t want the smoke, He don’t want the-)
I’ll say it to your face
(He don’t want the smoke, He don’t want the smoke, He don’t want the-)
Yo he cambiado mucho y no me mereces
Me j**iste, má’ que cien por ciento de la veces
I’ll always find a way
(He don’t want the smoke, He don’t want the smoke, He don’t want the-).”

There is a bridge, which features some strong language from my guy, including, “I’m on some new shit (yeah),” and “I’m the best thing that you / Never fucking had.” Abso-fucking-lutely, Al! “Smoke” is another smoking hot bop from the smoking hot and talented Al Calderon.

2. Arlo Parks, “2SIDED”

Ambiguous Desire » Transgressive Records Ltd. » 2026

Arlo Parks, Ambiguous Desire [📷: Transgressive Records Ltd.]

“I’ve been waiting for this moment all night,”
British singer-songwriter Arlo Parks (Anaïs Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho) sings, and continues, “Yeah, I only made it out for you.” Ooh-la-la! Something special is brewing on “2SIDED”, the lead single and ninth track on Parks’ 2026 album, Ambiguous Desire. According to Parks, “2SIDED” was the last song written for the album.  Randomly concocted, it was born out of limitation. Parks adds that she was picturing a cold December night in London. Painting a picture of attraction and budding romance outside of the bar/club, according to Parks, neither of you wants to say it, but you take the leap (“I, I feel my heartbeat climb / The moonlight cuts through, white / My friends are all inside”). Parks, Baird, and Rob Bisel wrote “2SIDED.” Baird and Bisel produced it.

“2SIDED” is striking the first time you hear it.  The keys and synths are warm. The sound is exuberant but non troppo. The groove is electrifying, reminiscent of a club. Arlo Parks sings in a calm, cool, and collected fashion.  Her British accent is quite charming. Barely breaking a sweat, she masterfully brings the melodies to life and captures her feelings like a champ. In the second verse, she informs us, “I never really feel at home anywhere / It’s the right place at the wrong time.” Been there, done that! Of course, she desires that this person feels the same way about her – “Tell me it’s two-sided.”  The hope for reciprocated feelings is captured sublimely on the crème de la crème, the chorus.

“The heat and the dark

My head is so clouded (My head is so clouded)

You know how I feel

Tell me it’s two-sided (T-tell me it’s two-sided).”

All told, “2SIDED” is smooth…like butter, BTS! The yearning is real, and confessing feelings, particularly if you are introverted, can be incredibly difficult.  However, if you want someone, ultimately, you have to stop beating around the bush and confess those feelings.  Arlo Parks delivers a chill, but potent bedroom pop/alternative R&B gem that ranks among the best songs of 2026.

3. Asbjørn & La Boum Fatale, “gold”

HAUSPARTY EP » Body of Work » 2026

Asbjørn & La Boum Fatale, gold [📷: Body of Work]

“I’ll sniff your armpit, don’t ask me why / I’d like to fuck your brains out, but I am too shy.”
Um, excuse me 😳? Come again? Danish singer-songwriter Asbjørn (Asbjørn Toftdahl Terkelsen) and German musician La Boum Fatale (Antonio de Spirt) join forces for a golden opportunity via their single, “gold”. “Gold” appears on the HAUSPARTY EP. As the excerpted lyrics suggest, “gold” is risqué and unapologetic. Asbjørn characterizes the lyrics as the ‘horniest lyric I’ve ever written, with a pinch of compulsive oversharing.’ Woo! Via Bandcamp, describing the record, ‘the narrator is craving connection but can’t quite read the social codes.’ Terkelsen composed “gold.” He produced alongside de Spirt.

Asbjørn & La Boum Fatale, Hausparty (EP) [📷: Body of Work]“Gold” stands out for a plethora of reasons.  The record’s sound is bold, distinct, and forward-thinking.  Firmly planted in electronic music and hyperpop, “gold” is incredibly adventurous.  The unfiltered lyrics and fun, playful performance by Asbjørn enhance the song’s captivating nature.  Terkelsen never disappoints with singing. While the lyrics are sexual, they are also left field, such as “I’ll order in, and you’ll eat me out / The I will read you Dinotopia as a goodbye.” Eating ass and Dinotopia are 🤪! Rawr 🦖! But when you are horny, particularly when you’re gay and lonely, sometimes, you do and say wild things.

“You want my body count

It’s not impressive

I love to cuddle

Don’t know my fetish

I’ll let you in if you help me out

But don’t come near the ticklish spot on my left thigh.”

Word. Most importantly, Asbjørn’s goal: “I hope I strike gold.” Hopefully, somewhere, sniffing armpits, and wanting to “fuck your brains out,” he physically strikes gold.  Until then, “gold”, a striking, two-minute cut is a surefire banger of a collab between Asbjørn and La Boum Fatale.

4. Benjamin, “Badabim (My Kind of Terapiaa)”

“Badabim (My Kind of Terapiaa)” » Warner Music Finland » 2026

Benjamin, Badabim (My Kind of Terapiaa) [📷: Warner Music Finland]

“Mä olen friikki ja mielenvikanen /Mun dynamiitti on biitti likanen / Baby, tää on mun portti euforiaan / This is my kind of terapiaa.”
Um, okay, Benjamin (Niclas Benjamin Peltonen), you handsome, Finnish man/musician. But I didn’t catch any of that as a non-Finnish speaker.  Translated into English, Peltonen asserts in the chorus of “Badabim (My Kind of Terapiaa)” (“Badabim (My Kind of Therapy)”), “I’m a freak and a lunatic / My dynamite is a dirty beat / Baby, this is my gateway to euphoria / This is my kind of therapy.” Ah, dancing… perhaps, a little dirty dancing at that 😈! “Badabim (My Kind of Terapiaa)” was written by Benjamin, Atso Soivio, and Iivari Suosalo. Soivio produced it.

“Badabim (My Kind of Terapiaa)” marks another intriguing record from Benjamin.  In the first verse, he makes it clear that traditional therapy does nothing for him. Instead, he needs to act, and that takes the form of satisfaction. In the second verse, after he sings, “Tehä sitä, mihin Luoja minut teki [Do what the Creator made me for]/Liike kertoo enemmän ku tuhat sanaa [A movement speaks louder than a thousand words],” he adds, “Tänä yönä rakastele malttiaa [Tonight, make love in moderation].” Ooh-wee, he’s going to have sex!  In the post-chorus, Benjamin shakes his butt and sweats his worries away. I have no doubt that is a sight to behold 👀 🥵 🤭. On the bridge, Peltonen affirms that this is his drug, religion, and therapy, and it involves his waist. Right on.  Throughout “Badabim (My Kind of Terapiaa)”, Benjamin delivers the goods.  His voice is beautiful, and he brings plenty of attitude, confidence, and personality, PERIODT!  The melodies are tuneful, while the lyrics, performed exclusively in Finnish, catch the ear, whether you understand a word or nah.  Sleekly produced, embracing Euro- and Scandipop in all of synth-driven, programmed glory, Mr. Peltonen gives the gays another bop that totally slays!

5. Bentley Robles & Frankie Grande, “Phantom Feelings”

Olympus  » Bentley Robles / ONErpm  » 2026

Bentley Robles, Phantom Feelings (Ft. Frankie Grande) [📷: Bentley Robles / ONErpm]So, what happens when you pair the talented, yellow-haired, tatted Bentley Robles and the fearless, theatrical Frankie Grande on the same track? “Phantom Feelings”, of course! Between these two gifted fellas, you get an infectious, irresistible, and unforgettable gay pop duet.  This sugar, honey, iced tea is serving, PERIOD! Robles and Grande came to slay on the penultimate track from the former’s debut album, Olympus. Robles wrote “Phantom Feelings” alongside producer FLORIO (Dominic Florio).  There is no way you don’t leave gagged with this one! Also, upping the ante is a spectacular music video with independent musicians sharing their feelings at Flopstars Anonymous.

Bentley Robles, Olympus [📷: Bentley Robles / ONErpm]“Phantom Feelings” gets off to a captivating start with a colorful, enigmatic wall of sound. After hearing the song in its entirety, the intro makes perfect sense as an excerpt from the epic chorus.  Following the striking intro, “Phantom Feelings” settles into sleek dance-pop. Bentley Robles draws first blood, singing the first verse radiantly.  His tone is spot-on, and his sincerity is undisputed as you lean into every note and lyric he utters.  The melody is tuneful, catching the ears and engaging the first time you hear it. From there, the listener is blessed with a soaring chorus.  The sound is gargantuan, filled with energy, passion, and even more tunefulness. Frankie Grande delivers his solo moment in the second verse. This includes dropping an f-bomb 🫢.  It fits perfectly as he keeps the same energy as his partner in crime.  Like Bentley, the vocals are giving sheer excellence, with Grande complementing and contrasting Robles.  Following another powerful chorus, the bridge distinguishes itself from the rest of the song. Here, our handsome and talented fellas trade lines, leading to the grandest chorus of them all.  The synergy is incredible, with Grande’s theatrical ad-libs coming off marvelously. Without a doubt, “Phantom Feelings” is a surefire pop bop! Bentley Robles and Frankie Grande ate and left no crumbs with their expressive and passionate vocal performance.  Their vocal chemistry is incredibly impressive, especially during the bridge and the outgoing chorus.

6. Cole Redding, “Shot In The Dark”

“Shot In The Dark” » Cole Redding » 2026

Cole Redding, Shot In The Dark [📷: Cole Redding]

“All of my life / Was just killing time / Waiting for lightning to strike.”
Bummer! Say it isn’t so, Cole Redding?!  Per his single, “Shot In The Dark”, “Now you / You got me running / To the beat of your heart.” Ooh-wee! Redding composed “Shot In The Dark” with Stephen Santa Teresa and Zoe Giosa-Hirsch.  Santa Teresa produced it.  There is a lot to like about this two-and-a-half-minute song.

“Shot In The Dark” features bright, exuberant production. Set in a major key, the musical accompaniment is sweet and suits Cole Redding superbly. Our singer is the star of the show. He sings beautifully and effortlessly, never forcing things.  Cole brings the tuneful melodies and thoughtful lyrics to life like a champ. He opens with a banger: “The moonlight / Is hotter than the heat of the sun.” Later, finding this high-flying fella, “My sheets are covered / In your cologne / For once I feel like I’m not alone.” Yeah, I jelly! The crème de la crème, unsurprisingly, is the chorus (excerpted earlier), where the titular phrase can be found:

“Now you

You got me running

To the beat of your heart

And I

Ain’t scared of falling

But I’m falling apart

I can see it coming

It don’t matter how far

We could hit forever

With a shot, shot, shot in the dark.”

There is a post-chorus/bridge that emphasizes that shot in the dark, before the concluding chorus. All told, “Shot In The Dark” is another highlight from Redding.  It checks off the right boxes: strong vocals, memorable theme and lyrics, tuneful melodies, and vibrant production.

7. Djnaba & Beks, “Big Titties (Little Titties)”

Did We Stutter? » etcetc Music Pty Ltd » 2026

“Big titties in the city / Little titties in the city.”
Oh, snap! It’s hard to find two minutes and ten seconds more exhilarating than “Big Titties (Little Titties)”. Queer Australian artist Djnaba (Chloe Grant-King, she/her) originally recorded the song “Big Titties” in 2025.  It appeared on her album, Did I Stutter?. As for the remix, “Big Titties (Little Titties),” it appears as the third track on her brief 2026 remix project, Did We Stutter?.  Making all sizes of tits possible 🤭, Beks (she/her) assists Djnaba.  Djnaba, Ryan Fennis, Nick Littlemore, Peter Mays, and Rebecca Callander wrote “Big Titties (Little Titties).” PNAU produced it.

Djnaba, Did We Stutter? [📷: etcetc Music Pty Ltd]“Big Titties (Little Titties)” is danceable to the nth degree. Frankly, there is no way your ass doesn’t get up and dance to this one! It’s infectious and irresistible. A big reason for this is thanks to incredibly sleek, vibrant, and in-your-face production. Face it, the thumping beat, the fat bass line, and those rhythmic synths are everything, NO CAP!  Of course, Djnaba and Beks are the biggest reasons why “Big Titties (Little Titties)” is the cat’s meow. Djnaba draws first blood, performing the intro (excerpted earlier), verse, and chorus.  The lyrics aren’t deep, but, again, fun.  “Big titties in the city / Round real, real pretty,” Djnaba sings in her verse, and continues, “Big titties flashing fiddies / Playing hard getting gritty.” What more can you say to that?  The chorus is the crème de la crème:

“There was a guy

He was in the city

There was this girl

She was really pretty

Can we go away?

Can we go away?

Can we go away?

Can we go away?”

Beks takes the reins in her own verse, taking on the smaller titties perspective.  “Can I come through with my little-itty-bitties?” she asks, and continues, “I wanna bounce, small bra, no titties / A cup, big heart, no diffy.” Of course, you can! All sizes welcome!  All told, “Big Titties (Little Titties)” is a bop-and-a-half, readymade for gay clubs everywhere! Big or small, you work with what you’ve got!

8. Durand Bernarr & James Fauntleroy, “Wild Ride”

BERNARR. » Durand Bernarr / DSING RECORDS / Create Music Group Inc. » 2026

Durand Bernarr, BERNARR. [📷: Durand Bernarr / DSING RECORDS / Create Music Group Inc.]

“Tighter than a seatbelt, that’s why.”
Hmm… Okay, Durand Bernarr. Please, tell us more.  “Wouldn’t let no one else take over you driving / I’m riding.” Oh… Durand, are you talking about S Meets E, and then they X? The innuendo is ripe AF in the first verse from “Wild Ride” credited to the Grammy winner and James Fauntleroy. Bernarr and Fauntleroy wrote the intriguing track while Fauntleroy produced it.

A brief but notable instrumental introduction sets the tone on “Wild Ride.” The sounds are the sugar, honey, iced tea, thanks to a banging, syncopated, souped-up beat, vibrant keyboards, and striking synths. Durand Bernarr puts his foot into his performance.  He delivers refined, sophisticated, and expressive vocals. His tone is everything. I adore the fullness of his lower register. That said, his upper register and falsetto are ripe as well.  He also drops some sickening vocal ad-libs and runs.  What I’m saying is, Durand delivers a complete performance.  “Niggas be / They tripping with me too much,” he sings in the second verse, and adds, “Fuck would you rather be? /… in love? / If that’s what you want / Stop bullshitting, pull up.” Word.  The chorus, expectedly, is a big deal:

“And you can have the control, don’t rush

You can go slow, slow

And I don’t care where we go

Don’t even need to know, woah, just go, oh.”

Durand is going wherever his man is, PERIOD! Notably, the bridge distinguishes itself from the verses and choruses.  It goes percussion-less, which contrasts with most of the song. L-O-V-E is in the air: “Huh, your hand in mine, into the light / That’s the kind of wild ride I like.” The outro (“Let’s stop chasing, let’s get active…”) allows the instrumental to shine alongside silky-smooth background vocals. It is a vibe in its own right. Durand Bernarr and James Fauntleroy bring the heat and deliver the goods on “Wild Ride”, which is more like an exhilarating ride.

9. Erika Vikman, “Adam & Steve”

“Adam & Steve” » Warner Music Finland » 2026

Erika Vikman, Adam & Steve [📷: Warner Music Finland]

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
That’s Biblical, courtesy of Genesis. Then, Finnish pop singer-songwriter Erika Vikman throws in some skepticism: “But what if everything’s a lie? Then no one’s getting hurt.” Uh-oh! Those ultra-devout, hardcore Christians are sure to be pissed off by “Adam & Steve”. Homosexuality and Christianity have an incredibly difficult relationship. Here, Vikman couldn’t care less about super conservative Christians being big mad. DJ RZY, Janne Rintala, and Linnéa Deb wrote the blasphemous “Adam & Steve.” DJ RZY also produced it.

If you’re gay or an ally, “Adam & Steve” shouldn’t offend you in the least.  Why? This is a song about love is love, NOT a persecution of Christianity or God.  Is this a hymn? Absolutely not, particularly the snakes 🐍 mentioned during the infectious, gay-affirming chorus 👀:

“Have you heard the story about Adam and Steve?

Boys are doing fine, doing fine without Eve

Tonight, there will be two big snakes in Paradise

Have you heard the story about Adam and Steve?

Swinging in the clouds, love is all that we need

Tonight, there will be two big snakes

‘Cause God makes no mistakes

Tonight, there will be two big snakes in Paradise.”

Those snakes mean multiple things, confirmed by the swinging mentioned 😈.  The chorus is the crowning achievement, with its tuneful melody and memorable lyrics.  Of course, Erika Vikman brings it vocally.  Also, she nails it in the verses.  “There’s no forbidden fruit, so go and try them all,” she asserts in the second verse, and concludes it like the first, singing, “Spread your wings, do your thing / ‘Cause no one cares in the end.” She should be right, BUT, we know far too many politicians, pastors, and myopic individuals are worried about what’s happening in certain bedrooms and such.  In the fun breakdown section, Vikman continues to affirm her support: “A-D-A-M and Steve / In L-O-V-E we believe.” Supported by a vibrant, electronic pop backdrop, Erika Vikman creates a gay anthem for the ages with “Adam & Steve”.  LOVE IS LOVE, PERIODT!

10. ETHAN, “Everything u need”

“Everything u need” » ETHAN » 2026

ETHAN, Everything u need [📷: ETHAN]

“Too tired to fight / Hell is you and I, hell is you and I…”
Well, now, ETHAN (Ethan Choryin Luo)… Dude, I thought we had something special?! I thought we were tight, my guy! I’ll forgive that handsome face, toned body, and most of all, those talented pipes, particularly hearing the enjoyable, though heartbroken, regretful single, “Everything u need”.  Yes, ETHAN messed up, but he knows that he is everything this nameless boy needs. ETHAN composed “Everything u need” with producer KLIPO.

“Everything u need” is a vibe from the get-go. The ears perk up thanks to the cool but potent synths and an electrifying groove.  The ears perk up even more thanks to ETHAN’s calm, cool, and collected vocals.  Although his performance is electrifying, he does not sound like he breaks a sweat. I love the legato nature of the melody throughout the first verse (excerpted earlier), pre-chorus, and chorus.  In the pre-chorus, ETHAN asks, “How are you still here?” and adds that he “Promised I’d change, but you know I can’t.” Damn, E! The chorus is quite tuneful and features memorable lyrics:

“I know I’ll never be good for you, babe

Hurt you so bad, but I’m everything you need, thing you need

I know you’ll never be the one to walk away

Hurt you so bad, but I’m everything you need, thing you need.”

Noted, ETHAN. The second verse is far more rhythmic compared to the first.  He admits his wrongs, but also acknowledges his ex’s flaws, too. In the second pre-chorus, he states, “I wish you could stop being so hard on me / But God knows I haven’t made it easy.” At least he’s self-aware.  Following the chorus, ETHAN drops the outro, confirming everything, of course! All in all, “Everything u need” is another winner from the handsome and remarkably talented singer-songwriter from New Zealand.

11. Felix Jaehn & Cascada, “boy you turn me”

boy you turn me » Collaection GmbH » 2026

Felix Jaehn & Cascada, boy you turn me [📷: Collaection GmbH]

“Upside down / Boy, you turn me / Inside out / And ‘round and ‘round.”
Woo! Nonbinary and pansexual German DJ and record producer Felix Jaehn (he/she/they) and German dance project Cascada (Natalie Horler) join forces for a badass dance bop in “boy you turn me”. “Boy you turn me” sounds familiar, in some respects, for good reason.  It samples a Diana Ross classic, “Upside Down”. “Boy you turn me” was written by Jaehn, Maegan Cottone, Georgia Meek, Troy Miller, and Xoro. Jaehn, Miller, Xoro, and Luca Eck produced it.

From a first listen, “boy you turn me” screams gay club. The thudding beat sets the tone – stomping right onto the dancefloor! It’s the house piano, robust bass line, and the driving, percussive, scintillating groove that propels this turning experience! The sound palette is vibrant. Besides the work that Felix and company contribute, Natalie Horler eats on vocals.  Yes, it’s been nearly two decades since Cascada’s “Everytime We Touch” days, but Nat’s vocals still slap.  She brings plenty of attitude to this fun joint. “I should know better by now,” she sings in the first verse, and adds in the second, “Baby, I’m not blind / Lovin’ you’s like rolling the dice.” Word.  Later, in the third verse, Horler admits, “Baby, it’s all fun / ‘Til you take my heart and you run / Boy, you got me spun / Don’t let go, now I’m coming up.”  Restless, in the pre-chorus, Natalie adds that she’s “Dancing on the edge / Of this chemical feeling / High heels on the ceiling.” Of course, the centerpiece is the chorus excerpted earlier.  It expands:

“Said upside down, you’re turning me

You’re giving love instinctively

‘Round and ‘round, you’re turning me

I say to thee, respectfully.”

Ooh-wee!  A banger and bop through and through, Felix Jaehn and Cascada put in work on the irresistible “boy you turn me”.

12. Grant Brett, “Games We Play”

“Games We Play” » Dark Dance Records » 2026

Grant Brett, Games We Play [📷: Dark Dance Records]

“You think about me every day / But you know I’m not here to stay / Love the games we play / But you know I’m gonna walk away.”
OKAY! Grant Brett (Grant Breitmeier) said what he said on his single, “Games We Play”. I mean, if we’re going on looks alone, Grant is a cutie 😍, so it’s easy to think about him every day. Anyway, Brett wrote this satisfying electro-pop joint while Jayden McKenzie produced it.

It should be noted that the games being played on “Games We Play” are S-E-X-U-A-L. Did we expect any less with Mr. Grant at the helm? This ‘relationship’ doesn’t appear to be that deep… or even exist, for that matter. There are some edibles, dirty pics, and dirty talk involved. That said, L-O-V-E isn’t; it’s more about horniness, lustfulness, and instant gratification.  Grant presents himself confidently.  Face it, he knows he’s the shit, and this boy eats him up… or wants to?  Anyway, there’s little substance here other than thinking with the pants. “You know my lips, they’re so kissable / Got you praying for it, Biblical,” he sings, and continues, naughtily, “Booty pics, yeah you like the bubble? / Eat it up, Eat it up, Lunchable.” Not a Lunchable, Grant 😂! Backed by a groovy, danceable electro-pop backdrop, Brett Grant gets to werk (no, not a typo)! His performance is easygoing but playful as he gets us going with these “Games We Play”. Amazingly, he does so without crossing any lines, but we can also read between the lines 😉.

13. Honey Dijon & Jacob Lusk, “Satisfied”

The Nightlife » SOS » 2026

Honey Dijon, The Nightlife [📷: SOS]

“Listen and understand / I’m listening.”
DJ, producer, and electronic musician Honey Dijon (Honey Redmond) and Jacob Lusk (he/him) cooked up something incredibly satisfying on “Satisfied”. “Satisfied” appears as the 11th track on Dijon’s 2026 album, The Nightlife.  She wrote and produced the track. It commences with a sampled, captivating spoken word introduction with applause that’s accompanied by a jazzy bass line (think jazz rap). The sample, You So Black from the 2019 Bounce Trumpet Awards, performed by Theresa Tha S.O.N.G.B.I.R.D., references being unapologetically black and proud

“I’m black like my granddaddy and my great-great-great-great-grandmother

Black is that lift every voice and sing

Black is that letting your freedom ring and resound

Black is adjective, adverb, color, and noun.”

Just as this speech did in 2019, it gets the listeners hyped up on “Satisfied,” establishing a satisfying listening experience.

With the tone set, an electrifying percussive groove.  Do you know what else kicks in? The high-flying vocals by the incredibly gifted Jacob Lusk. Did you hear the former American Idol contestant pay tribute to Elton John? Lusk’s falsetto is utterly sublime.  He marvelously performs smooth, tuneful, and rhythmic melodies. The chorus, excerpted earlier, is incredibly memorable. Beyond the chorus, I adore the unapologetic post-chorus, which features more synths and some timely f-bombs. “I ain’t the one to play with, don’t you fuck with me now,” he sings, and continues, “Don’t you play with me, don’t you fuck with me now.” There is also an entertaining spoken-word/rapped second verse, backed by the jazz-rap backdrop (“I’m in need of satisfaction, talking about word and action / Leave it all on the floor, drippin’ head to toe with hella passion”).  As “Satisfied” progresses, it only grows more satisfying.  There are additional instruments, riffs, ideas, etc. Honey Dijon, assisted by Lusk, throws the whole kitchen sink into “Satisfied”, recording a bop that NEVER fails to satisfy the ears.

14. Jenna Doe, “U-HAUL”

“U-HAUL” » JJC Records » 2026

Jenna Doe, U-HAUL [📷: JJC Records]

“I met a girl, she’s from out of town,”
alternative Canadian singer-songwriter Jenna Doe informs us on her single, “U-HAUL”. Uh-oh! She adds, “She’s been calling my number / Wants me to meet her mother / She’s a Ferrari that I want to slow down.” Oh, snap! You know what they say, lesbian relationships move fast, particularly U-Hauling. Doe captures a potential fast-moving relationship perfectly in this song. “U-HAUL” was written by Doe, Samuel Bierman, and Hannah Avison, and produced by Bierman.

Jenna Doe wants to slow things down, breaking the lesbian stereotypes. But this girl has other plans. She’s put her foot on the gas pedal. “She gets kinda possessive,” Doe sings in the second verse, and admits, “Don’t know why, but it keeps turning me on.” Ooh-wee! It’s giving mixed messages, Jenna! In the pre-chorus, she mentions “playing house,” and asserts, “She’s got our whole future planned out.” D-d-damn! Still, in the crowning achievement, the chorus, she shares her reservations about falling fast and refuses to rent the U-Haul!

“I just wanna kiss girls on the weekend

So caught up in other expectations

Couple bottles then she wanna

Be the one to take me home

But I know it’s too soon for me to fall

I’m not renting the U-Haul.”

The question is, will she ultimately end up renting that U-Haul 🤔? Whether she does or does not, Jenna Doe delivers an entertaining lesbian alternative gem with “U-HAUL”. She sings expressively with sincerity, debunking the stereotype… for the most part.  Doe wants to have fun with girls, but she’s not ready to move in just yet, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  Commitment is hard, and you must be ready for it.  Supported by a rocking backdrop, she puts in work 🤘.

15. JJ, “Shapeshifter”

JJ, Into the Unknown (EP) [📷: Warner Music Group Germany Holding GmbH / Manifester Music]

“Like a blood red sky, I’ve been bleeding emotions / You’re the parasite cutting me open.”
Oh, my! Now those are some incredibly dramatic lyrics, JJ (Johannes Pietsch, he/him). 2025 was a big year for the queer Austrian singer-songwriter, who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with his debut single, “Wasted Love”. In 2026, he wowed once again with his single, “Shapeshifter”, the opener from his EP, Into the Unknown. “Shapeshifter” was written by Pietsch, Cecil Remmler, Ferras Alqaisi, Marek Pompetzki, and Jaro Omar. FNSHRS produced it.

It’s not only the first verse of  “Shapeshifter” that features descriptive, dramatic lyrics.  These ear-catching, poetic, and vivid lines continue throughout. It’s genius how ritual and metaphysical are incorporated and rhymed in the second verse.  In the pre-chorus, JJ sings about trying to figure this person out. “Twisted and cryptic, but baby, look at me now,” he asserts. The chorus is the crème de la crème, with its shapeshifting references:

“Turn my tears into burning flames

Turn my fears into golden rays

Throw me in the river, I’m a shapeshifter…”

Ooh-wee! The bridge marks another captivating moment from “Shapeshifter.” Despite adversity, JJ proclaims, “Whatever you can throw my way / I’m always gonna break these chains.” His resilience and resolve are admirable.  Even more admirable are the vocals! JJ possesses a truly beautiful instrument, which he showcases at a high level. His upper register sounds flawless.  The melodies crafted perfectly match the thoughtful lyricism. The accompaniment and production are exceptional as well, supporting JJ like the champ he is.  The sounds are lush, warm, and picturesque. “Shapeshifter” marks another illustrious chapter in JJ’s quickly ascending musical career. He ate and left no crumbs.

16. JORDY, “GOD COMPLEX”

GOD COMPLEX (EP) » JORDY / EMPIRE » 2026

JORDY, GOD COMPLEX [📷: JORDY / EMPIRE]

“I know you like it when I’m down on my knees.”
Are you praying, JORDY (Jordy Shulman), or are you doing something else? Listening to the next line in “GOD COMPLEX”, Shulman sings, “Asking forgiveness over something I didn’t do / Got me thinking that you’re some kind of priest / Confessing over something you know that isn’t true.” Early on, in the first verse of “GOD COMPLEX,” the religious and spiritual references run rampant.  Down on my knees, forgiveness, priest, and confessing are all key words. Shulman composed the two-and-a-half-minute song with Perrin Xthona and producer mattisnotfamous (Matthew Roy Ferree).

The second verse of “GOD COMPLEX” moves beyond religion, well, sort of.  JORDY shares his plans to become friends with his ex’s ex – an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth! In the pre-choruses, Shulman discusses losing and eventually finding himself following this shitty experience. That, my friends, leads to the Chorus, the centerpiece of the record.  “You were a bad decision, bad religion, can’t believe that I committed / To a normal guy, with a god complex,” he sings, and adds, “Rather be a sinner, pull the trigger, altogether / Couldn’t tell you why, I was so obsessed.” Once more, religious and spiritual references rear their head, with JORDY singing them like a champ.  His voice is terrific as he rocks out over the pop/rock, pop-punk-infused music accompaniment.  The theme and lyrics are entertaining and honest, while the melodies are tuneful. All in all, “GOD COMPLEX” is another bop in the hands of JORDY.  Rock on!

17. kwn, “hopeless romantic”

“hopeless romantic” » RCA Records » 2026

kwn, hopeless romantic [📷: RCA Records]

“I’m a hopeless romantic.”
The first step is admitting it, kwn (Khyra Wilson).  The British musician has a knack for releasing sensual songs. “Hopeless romantic” is no exception, where love, and, unsurprisingly, sex, are part of the equation.  The passion is real early on, with kwn keeping her foot on the gas. Kwn wrote “hopeless romantic” with David Marcus, and producer, Compass. “Hopeless romantic” features a unique sound.  It’s firmly planted in R&B, but also has some 80s, Prince-like, pop/rock vibes. Sounds that catch the ear include the pummeling drums and the guitar.  It’s not only the instruments that make the ears perk up.  Kwn’s sultry vocals compel early on.  I love the lushness and sensual sound of the background vocals, performing the recurring titular lyric.  Also, the non-lyrical singing voice heard throughout, mixed in the background, is a great touch. Focusing on the star, Kwn drops the deets of this romance. “I want side-by-side chairs / Chocolate we can share,” she signs in the first verse, and continues, “Sex up on the stairs / ‘Cause we can’t make it to the bed.” Ooh-wee!  In the chorus, she asserts, “I think / I wanna fall in love with my best friend / I think / I want forever ‘cause forever never ends.” Aww! Love is universal, and kwn’s pursuit of her forever love is so, so sweet! Listening to “Hopeless romantic” makes you want to embrace your forever love or continue looking for and pursuing your life-long ride or die.

18. Kyle Alessandro, “Rosary”

AURA » Warner Music Norway AS » 2026

Kyle Alessandro, Rosary [📷: Warner Music Norway AS]

“I’m repeating all my prayers / Repeating all my, my prayers,”
Norwegian pop singer-songwriter Kyle Alessandro (Kyle Alessandro Helgesen Villalobos) asserts in the pre-chorus of “Rosary”. Kyle gets all spiritual on us on “Rosary,” with bang-up results! As they say, prayer is the key of heaven.  “Rosary” is a brief but superbly written, performed, and produced song from the talented 20-year-old.  He wrote the ninth track from his debut album, AURA, with Stian Gunby, Trygve Løkka Wølner, and Emilia Ora.

Kyle Alessandro, AURA [📷: Warner Music Norway AS]“Rosary” begins with a striking instrumental introduction.  The record thrives on its vibrant production, including gorgeous, lush strings, keys, synths, and programming.  Kyle Alessandro is the star of the show.  His vocals are incredibly sweet from the opening to the closing note.  Alessandro sings with ease during the verse.  Notably, spiritual references run rampant.  “Looking for salvation in the same place,” he sings in the first verse, and continues, “Counting beads by the day.” In the second verse, he asks, “Am I worthy enough? / Not sure if I deserve it / Maybe it’s all too much / Just tell me how to earn it.” He ups the ante during the chorus, the section to beat.  In the big, unforgettable chorus, Kyle shows off the robustness and power of his instrument. He matches the dynamic nature of the accompaniment.

“For what I’ve done

It’s making me bleed, yet I just keep on going ‘round

Whatever you need, whenever I please, Lord, help me out

I’m counting the beads on this rosary, forever, forever

I’m counting the beads on this rosary.”

Beyond the chorus, the post-chorus is delightful, too, showcasing how bright Alessandro’s star is (“Perdóname, perdóname [Forgive me, forgive me]”).  Adding to the magnificence of “Rosary” are the harmonic progression (the musical underpinnings), which gives off a dash of gospel.  No, this isn’t a song intended for church, but there is a hint of gospel-pop flavor.  All told, Kyle Alessandro ate and left no crumbs on this brief but high-flying, potent pop single. Slay, King!

“No matter what, no matter what / You got to strut.”
Woo! Hell yeah! And so begins “RUNWAY” by Grammy Award-winning artists Lady Gaga and Doechii. “RUNWAY” graces The Devil Wears Prada 2 soundtrack.  This fashionably fierce model-driven cut was written by Lady Gaga, Doechii, Bruno Mars, D’Mile, watt, Cirkut, and Jayda Love. It was produced by watt, Cirkut, Bruno Mars, and D’Mile. Sure, there are lots of cooks in the kitchen, but the song is well worth a loaded credit list!

Following the striking, low-pitched spoken-word intro excerpted above, a sickening beat and a vintage, electronic, house backdrop enter.  Lady Gaga wastes no time putting in work.  “Walk, I’m feeling fab / I’m feeling free, I feel exceptionally.” Get it, LG! She concludes the verse, asserting, “This paparazzi routine / Bitch, I came to be seen.” We see you, gurl! Doechii drops a bangin’ pre-chorus, where “Yes, serve a little sass / Yes, with a little side of ass…” The chorus, performed by both, eats! “Turn it up, turn around,” Gaga proclaims, with Doechii responding, “Bitch, Monday through Sunday / I can turn a dance floor into a runway.” Doechii gets her time to shine in the second verse, chock-full of confidence, dropping a compelling cadence and flow. “Cameras, flashing, lights on, fuck it up,” she asserts, and adds, “Click, click, click, click, everywhere I go / Get it, can’t get me, face card froze.” D-d-damn, gurl! There’s even more C-U-Next-Tuesday served on the bridge and the outro. “Pose / I ain’t scared of no cameras / Born for the runway / Sashay, Doech-ay.” All in all, Lady Gaga and Doechii ate and left no crumbs on the irresistibly delicious “RUNWAY”.

20. LUKAS OSCAR, “Cereals”

Everything’s Built To Last » LUKAS OSCAR » 2026

LUKAS OSCAR, Everything's Built To Last [📷: LUKAS OSCAR]

“As I’m going under / Don’t need one to feed me my cereals.”
That is a unique lyric, isn’t it? Well, LUKAS OSCAR is a unique, queer pop artist, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! “Cereals” is the name of the song, though the breakfast food has little to do with the song. “Cereals” is the second track on OSCAR’s 2026 album, Everything’s Built To Last.  It should be noted, OSCAR asserts, “I’m irresponsibly serious…” Let that set in!

“Cereals” features a unique, minimalist sound.  This is alternative pop that finds the Filipino Austrian musician flexing his creative muscles.  OSCAR sings subtly but potently, reflecting on love and sex.  The sex is good, though temporary, while the love is questionable. Beyond the cereals lyric excerpted earlier, there are plenty of memorable, eyebrow-raising lines. The lyric from the chorus that earns the song the parental advisory, explicit lyrics sticker contains a sexual f-bomb: “Don’t need one who loves me / Want someone who fucks me right.” 😶 Or is the line really 100% sexual 🤔?  OSCAR provides more context as he continues singing, “Over when I least expect it / And therefore I’ll / Give my heart to someone who’ll break it.” Clever, seems like he’s fucked either way… Later, the recurring lyrics feature more unique vocal effects. “Cereals” is thought-provoking, a characteristic that LUKAS OSCAR’s music always seems to reflect.

21. Mad Tsai, “DIET”

“DIET” » Mad Tsai / Rebellion Records » 2026

Mad Tsai, DIET [📷: Mad Tsai / Rebellion Records]

“Voulez-vous, mama told me I should not / Play with my food / But baby, can you hit the spot?”
👀 Oh, snap! Mad Tsai (Jonathan Tsai, he/him) is not really talking about food on his single, “DIET”.  Instead, our handsome (understatement), talented bisexual musician is talking about a B-O-Y.  I know what you’re thinking.  Since he’s bi, could he be referencing a girl? Nope! Context clues, my friends, specifically, the pre-chorus:

“Oral fixation

Need an escape in your muscular frame

It makes me a cannibal

You’re my religion

Pray ‘til my mouth is full

Hips syncopating

Boy, I wanna make you my.”

You heard/read it, folks: BOY! “DIET” was written by Tsai, Drew Polovick, David Balshaw, and Maria Landi. Balshaw and Polovick produced it.

Mad Tsai’s lust is at an all-time high on “DIET.” He admits in the second verse that he’s “Feral and it’s primal / I’m a different breed.” And that’s after he asserted, “On my knees.” 😈 The chorus is the crème de la crème, where his diet is something else: “I’m a fiend for tongue and teeth, not a want but a need.” And, on the bridge, he’s really wild: “Fuck like an animal.” Mad Tsai brings the heat, performing with plenty of attitude.  He sings well, serving up a beautiful tone, bringing the melodies and naughty lyrics alive like a champ.  Adding to the ear-catching experience, “DIET” is well-produced.  The musical backdrop is vibrant, thanks to striking keys and synths, guitar, and a strong beat.  Too bad Tsai’s “DIET” won’t actually help with weight loss 😢.  BUT, it feels, dare I say, fucking good 🤭! And, I’ll leave you with one memorable lyric: “I’m gonna eat you whole.” Woo!

22. Melanie Martinez, “IS THIS A CULT?”

HADES » Atlantic Recording Corporation » 2026

Melanie Martinez, HADES [📷: Atlantic Recording Corporation]

“What a fine fellow, said his name was Hades / Picked me up in the back of his Mercedes…”
👀 Uh-oh, Melanie Martinez… smells like trouble. Hades, a fine fellow? Methinks not! Perhaps the attraction is the long hair resembling Jesus, which makes this cult leader appealing.  These lyrics appear in the verse of the marvelous song, “IS THIS A CULT?” “IS THIS A CULT?” appears as the second track from Martinez’s fourth studio album, HADES.  Conceptually, Martinez paints a picture of a situation where she and other women have been tricked and mistreated by men.   Of course, she and a squad of powerful women aren’t going to stand for that!  Martinez wrote “IS THIS A CULT” with producers CJ Baran and Halo Boy.

“IS THIS A CULT?” is a Melanie Martinez track through and through, and we ain’t mad about it! It commences with an enigmatic, dark instrumental, set in a minor key.  Given the mention of “cult” in the song title, this is fitting. Martinez sings beautifully as always; her tone is haunting.  She brings those dark, rhythmic, tuneful melodies to life. The lyrics are striking and… hellish, unsettling… After discovering Hades was a bad, abusive fella with all kinds of women, Martinez asserts in the first pre-chorus, “He doesn’t know I’m the jealous type / His face made me wet when I pulled out a knife.” Oh, snap! The chorus is the crème de la crème, varied each iteration.  It adds more instrumentation, including a banging, syncopated beat. Most importantly, Martinez and her squad of girls kick ass and take names against this no-good cult leader. Memorably, in the first iteration, Martinez sings, “Is this a cult? Can we revolt? / I don’t play nice, and you’re not listening / I’ll be the first one to steal all your bitches.” Woo! In the second iteration, “We see the future and get what we want / We killed the leader, and now we’re on top.” Mic drop! Before Hades is killed, the second verse adds more dark goodness, including the memorable coda: “Cracked some eggs on his bruised-up tummy / Let him cook, yeah, let him cook, yeah.” The outro is delightful, yet unsettling with the effects-laden “la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la.” “IS THIS A CULT?” is a jam-packed, dark alternative pop song. Martinez and the women mistreated, disrespected, and underestimated get their lick back on this undisputed, unbelieving asshole.

23. MUNA, “Dancing On The Wall”

Dancing On The Wall » Saddest Factory Records » 2026

MUNA, Dancing On The Wall [📷: Saddest Factory Records]

“Bought your favorite ice cream (Oh-oh), left it in the backseat (Oh-oh) / Just another sweet thing you let go bad.”
Uh-oh! That doesn’t sound sweet at all, MUNA (Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson). In fact, it sounds pretty shitty! “Dancing On The Wall” is the promo single and second track from the queer indie-pop band’s fourth studio album of the same name. Gavin, Maskin, and McPherson penned this dancing single.  McPherson produced it with marvelous results!

“Dancing On The Wall” commences with tension thanks to the agitated strings.  Soon enough, the song settles into an irresistible, danceable groove.  Katie Gavin shines with her lovely lead vocals. The verses feature incredibly tuneful melodies and memorable lyrics. “I should’ve told you not to waste my time,” she sings, but of course, foolishly, she adds, “I would wait forever as long as I’m waiting for you.” Additionally, the background vocal riffs are a colorful, thoughtful musical touch. The chorus is the crème de la crème – it’s sugary sweet to the nth degree.  Well, maybe not-so-sweet, actually…

“You’re the wall that I keep banging my head against

I’m always saying, ‘This time, I’ll get through.’

I end up with a bruise as a consequence

I know how to hurt myself on you…”

I adore the falsetto vocals during the post-chorus, which reinforce the chorus’s lyrics (“I’m dancing on the wall when I’m with you (When I’m with you, I’m on the wall”).  There is a great contrast during the bridge section.  The contrast is not only melodic but also in the groove. “I’m dancing on the wall, and I see / Lovers dancing in the light,” Gavin sings, and continues, “Shadows dance across my eyes / Watching as the second hand / Turns and turns around again.” The song’s ending returns to the familiar with the chorus and post-chorus. All in all, MUNA brings the heat on “Dancing On The Wall”.  There is no way you listen to this fun (the music and sound, not the situation itself) indie-pop bop and don’t move your body!

“Dick Pics” » Myylo » 2026

Myylo, Dick Pics [📷: Myylo]

“Everyone is makin’ porn and posting it online / …Best friend, and the preacher, and the lady down the drive.”
Myylo (Michael Lewis), you’re not wrong! I have a question, though? Where have you been? Your absence left our ears void with your entertaining, unapologetic gay pop music, sigh.  Sure, others have made us beam with pride while you were on hiatus, but we’re glad our handsome, Dad-kisser is back! Just ‘how back’ is he? “Dick Pics” are involved! No indecent exposure on the cover art by Nick Delisi. Myylo is shirtless (rawr!), rocking a mean pair of boxer shorts, with a camera in hand! He wrote “Dick Picks” with Travis Heidelman. Louie Diller produced it.

“Dick Pics” opens with a satisfying groove. Even more satisfying are the vocals and compelling, spicy lyrics. Myylo captures the prevalence of online adult entertainment in pitch-perfect fashion.  He acknowledges the art, singing: “Many Michelangelos addicted to the flesh / The medium has changed, but the art is still undressed.” What a banger of a line! It reminds me why I loved Myylo’s music so much the first time I heard it.  Later, he drops other gems like “Invented a language with emoji hieroglyphs,” and admits, “Got a lot of urges that I’m not trying to suppress / So reach out when you’re lonely for that digital caress.” In the chorus, Myylo admits his own NSFW activities. All, the while, he teaches us how to spell important anatomy: D-I-C-K, and C-O-C-K. D-d-damn! The chorus, which is big, bold, and tuneful, is the crème de la crème:

“D-I-C-K

Dick pics on your phone today

I hope you like the way I shoot the instrument (Do you like it?)

…Are you into my body, on the screen

Cause this one’s between you and me.”

True art, those D pics! IYKYK! Anyways, it’s great to have the handsome, talented Myylo back making new music. Clearly, with the quality of this comeback gem, he’s no grower – he’s a shower!

“Saw an animal in your eyes, I believe it / Tore my clothes off with your smile, I could feel it.”
So, would we describe that as smile fucking? Just curious, Nick Hissom 🤭. On “Hot Boy Things”, he exemplifies his hot boy era. The song was written by Hissom, Elyon, Midian (Midian Mathers), Timothy Skyler, Sam Solomon, and Devyn Kelly. Hissom and Elyon produced it. “Hot Boy Things” is enticing.  A better word is horny or lustful.  In the pre-chorus, Nick is fantasizing about what’s going to go down later… *Hint* it’s sex!  And if that wasn’t enough of a hint, see the second verse: “Slide up in it, make it mine.”  Hmm… In the chorus, he gets nasty with it… without profanity or slang:

“Love it when you talk like that (That)

Tell me all the hot boy things

Crazy how you look like that (That)

Love what’s underneath your jeans

Love it when you talk like that (That)

Tell me all the hot boy things

Never met a boy so bad (Bad)

Love it how you make me scream.”

You love what’s underneath his jeans, Nick? You love it how he makes you scream, Nick? Ooh-wee! In the bridge, he has questions for this purported hot boy.  “Have you got what it takes?” He asks, and continues, “Are you ‘workin’ round the clock,’ boy? / Am I keeping you late?” Fueled by a dark,  minor-key electronic/urban-sounding backdrop, Nick Hissom gets down and dirty.  The bedroom is front and center, and that, my friends, is pretty doggone hot! Serving up playful, breathy vocals, sometimes talk-sung, “Hot Boy Things” is a surefire queer pop bop!

26. Peaches, “No Lube So Rude”

No Lube So Rude » Kill Rock Stars » 2026

Peaches, No Lube So Rude [📷: Kill Rock Stars]

“Make you scream / Spritz it like a wet dream.”
Now that is quite the lyric! Bisexual Canadian feminist musician, producer, director, and performance artist Peaches (Merrill Nisker, b. 1966) never fails to bring the heat.  She remains potent to the nth degree on her bold, unapologetic single, “No Lube So Rude”. There is no shortage of eyebrow-raising lyrics. “No Lube So Rude” is the third track from her seventh studio album of the same name. Peaches wrote and produced this striking no-lube gem.

“No Lube So Rude” begins with a thudding kick. Eventually, there are some pummeling, jungle-like drums, which match the rawness of this record. Additionally, rhythmic, colorful synths shine within the initial minimalist accompaniment.  But it’s Peaches and those unapologetic lyrics that draw the most attention. “If you wanna tug / We can rub right here / Bring the strap right here / All caps right here.” Oh, snap, Peaches!  It doesn’t stop there: “In the back / In the front / In the cunt / Juicy plump / Take a sip / We can stuff / We can fluff.” Wow! Expectedly, the titular lyrics get some love before even more sexual lyrics arrive.  “Bag of nuts / Bag of tricks / Suck my bits,” she asserts, and continues, “Do you like to bottom / Like to top / Like to switch / Like to flop.” Well, she has it all covered, doesn’t she?! Later, she informs us she ran out of lube, hence, “No lube, so rude.” Rude indeed… like, painful…  Peaches gives no fucks in her performance – she’s all business with her primarily un-pitched performance.  However, on the word “Lube,” she is pitched.  As the record progresses, it adds more instruments (synths, additional programming). Also, Peaches provides even more oomph. Truly a piece of work, “No Lube So Rude” is entertaining, and of course, not safe for work (“When you show up dry / Lube is smoothin’ out the ride”). Never change, Peaches!

“Held you till the quiet / Came back to your heart.”
Perfume Genius (Mike Hadreas) never fails to compel. “It’s a Mirror” from his 2025 album, Glory, earned a spot on my 60 Best Songs of 2025 list. “Jamie”, which appears on Glory (Extended), released in 2026, proves to be another intriguing song from Hadreas.  Perfume Genius wrote and produced it.

“Jamie” features an intense, enigmatic instrumental introduction.  The sound is quite distinct: atmospheric, nebulous, and spacey. Mike Hadreas begins singing about 47 seconds in. “Left a note for Jamie / Tucked inside his coat,” he sings in the first verse, and continues, “‘Nobody will be here / When you get back home.’” Intriguing. There are two other verses, composed thoughtfully but sparely.  “I know you have a secret / Burning you up,” Hadreas sings, and adds, “But the more you need me / The less it feels like love.” Word. Hadreas’ vocals are radiant yet mysterious, much like the musical accompaniment.  His vocals are mixed in the background and restrained.  “Jamie” features very few lyrics, with many of Hadreas’ vocal lines followed by instrumental lines.  All told, “Jamie” is another stellar song by Perfume Genius.  This is alternative/indie/singer-songwriter/art-pop at its best.

28. Reiley, “Feeling”

Feeling” » Reiley » 2026

Reiley, Feeling [📷: Reiley]

“Something about you makes it go away / And I’m desperate, so I’m willing to settle.”
Uh-oh, Reiley (Rani Johann Petersen).  While it’s great that this person makes you feel better, desperation and willingness to settle might not be ideal 😬.  Admittedly, via the pre-chorus of “Feeling”, Petersen asserts, “I don’t know what is real or what I’m making up / And maybe that’s the price of falling in love.” Maybe, my guy, maybe. Reiley wrote “Feeling” with Sesilia Jacobsen and producer Sakaris Emil Joensen.  The feels are real!

“Feeling” is not only emotional, but it’s a surefire vibe. Joensen puts in work behind the boards, crafting a warm, vibrant backdrop that supports Reiley.  Some of the sounds that catch the ear are the keys, synths, and the hard-hitting groove.  Of course, the star of the show is our confused Faroese pop star.  Reiley delivers the goods in the vocal department.  He is powerful, when fitting, while he is good for an incredibly ripe falsetto.  What is indisputable is the passion he brings as he sings about “only chasing a feeling.” He eats in the chorus, admitting, “And it’s the way you make me feel like I need it / Always there, always there on my mind.” Yeah, crushes, particularly if we perceive them to be fine shyt, will have that effect.  In the refrain, post-chorus, Reiley gives us more personal intel: “‘Cause it’s the emptiness that I find appealing / Oh, it’s a feeling.” True, but what kind of feeling is it, really? Food for thought.  Of course, see the second verse, and this savior is no good, standing Reiley up. How could you stand up this handsome, talented fella? By the bridge, Petersen confirms what we were all thinking – this is a no good, very bad feeling.  We’ve all had ‘em, buddy.  The good news is, Reiley’s confusion and pain are our listening pleasure.  No, we don’t wish bad feelings or vibes on this gifted artist, but “Feeling” is a must-have on the listening rotation.  That boy doesn’t only sing, he SANGS!

(Rhian Guerrero) shines on “Up & Down”, which exemplifies the soundtrack of the gay club.  I’m pretty sure that Rhian!, who is 🏳️‍🌈, intended it that way! While the lyrics aren’t explicit, Rhian! There is some innuendo. “Up and down,” huh? Hmm… “Up & Down” was written and produced by Rhian! and Massimo Braghieri.

Capturing the gay club, The synths on “Up & Down” are synth-tastic – assertive, thriving off their bite and rhythmic nature.  The stomping beat is the perfect catalyst to hit the dancefloor. Listening to such a mean, driving, in-your-face backdrop, there is no way your booty isn’t dancing. Beyond the backdrop, Rhian! brings ample attitude and personality to the track.  There aren’t a lot of lyrics, but day-um does he make them worthwhile. Thematically, Rhian! seems put off by the ride that this fella is taking him on. “Always changing your mind / Why’re you wasting my time,” he sings, and continues, “Telling me lies / Why can’t you / Make up your mind.” Literally, this man has my boi’s head spinning like mad! An up-and-down experience, he gives his all on the track. His tenor rides electro-centric instrumental like a champ, serving C-U-Next-Tuesday from the first notes and lyrics sung. Woo! A brief dance cut, “Up & Down” packs a mean punch. And, if the radio edit isn’t enough sexiness on the track, Rhian! gives us an extended mix to keep us dancing!

30. Ryan Cassata & The Taxpayers, “We Don’t F*** With Cops”

“We Don’t F*** With Cops” » Kill Rock Stars » 2026

Ryan Cassata & The Taxpayers, We Don't Fuck With Cops [📷: Kill Rock Stars]

“If you wanna call the law / I’ll have to tie down your paws / And not let you in at the door.”
Oh, snap! Five words: “We Don’t Fuck With Cops”.  Oh, boy! That is a bold statement made by Ryan Cassata and The Taxpayers, isn’t it? The brief single packs a sizable punch, particularly in a tense climate where, frankly, too much bad shit is going down.  Interestingly, Cassata isn’t only referring to police officers.  In the caption for the video, he asserts:

There are cops everywhere these days, even beyond those with badges, vests, and donuts. There are cops inside our own queer communities! Yuck! Sadly, we police each other. We mimic the behavior of the oppressor. To fit into cis society? Why bother? Be authentic. Get free. The “you’re not trans enough” rhetoric has got to end… K!ll the cop in your head…

Now that is some serious food for thought! Furthermore, this is an important and incredibly relevant conversation to be had in multiple communities.

While the musical accompaniment is relatively mellow and rhythmic, the theme and lyrics are not the least bit subtle.  Those words are blunt and honest to the nth degree.  “Ain’t you bored of being righteous? / Your language is violence / You come down with your list of sins,” Ryan Cassata sings passionately, with no shortage of sincerity. He adds, accurately, “I hear it all the time from the right wing, honey / And queer cops feel worse than them.” The thought-provoking lyrics are paired with quick-paced, rhythmic melodies, for the win! Cassata raises more issues within the trans community as well, speaking to policing one’s own, essentially: “To the transphobic trans guys tell me to be more mas and look cis / Not all trans people pass like that, and not all queers blend in.” Fittingly, the titular lyrics are shouted, with Cassata and company ensuring the message is loud and, dare I say, fucking clear. All told, the spirit of protest, via song, is alive and well on “We Don’t Fuck With Cops”Ryan Cassata and The Taxpayers said what they said – ate and left no crumbs!

31. RYANN, “Dear Mother of My Ex…”

Dear Mother of My Ex…” » RYANN » 2026

RYANN, Dear Mother of My Ex... [📷: RYANN]

“Dear mother of my ex / You probably wonder why I don’t visit anymore / We didn’t say goodbye / And I think your son didn’t tell you why.”
That is quite the situation, RYANN (Ryan Adriaens). The Queer Netherlands pop singer/songwriter needs to tell his ex’s mom about what went down between him and her son. This suggests that the relationship that RYANN had with his ex-boyfriend was substantial since Mom is involved. On the enjoyable and honest “Dear Mother of My Ex…”, RYANN unveils his truth. Adriaens composed and produced the track.

“Dear Mother of My Ex…” is a vibe from the get-go.  It thrives on an infectious beat where the groove is grooving! Adding to the musical excellence are lovely keyboards, pads, and synths.  Although it is an emotional experience he sings about, RYANN keeps his performance cool, calm, and collected.  He informs his ex’s mom that she doesn’t know the full story.  In the second verse, he tells the mom that her son found someone new, said false things about him, and probably thought he was too gay. In the utterly infectious chorus, the centerpiece, he expresses that her son (his ex) cheated on him.  He doesn’t mince his words:

“Your son put his lips on someone else

He put his dick in someone else

Curious what he said to you, about this

I am not to blame; he made the mistake.”

That is transparency at its finest. If you are a gay man who is in a monogamous relationship (which can be rare, unfortunately), having sex with someone not your boyfriend is a no-no. The bridge contrasts the verses and chorus, adding some colorful pads.  Thematically, it relates to everything else. Even if he is heartbroken regarding his ex and sad that he no longer sees his ex’s mom, whom he admires, RYANN keeps his composure.  “Dear Mother of My Ex…” is another fabulous pop cut from this handsome, talented young man’s catalog.  He continues to keep things unapologetically queer, and who would have it any other way?

32. Sander Sanchez, “Two Spirits”

“Two Spirits” » The Arrangement » 2026

Sander Sanchez, Two Spirits [📷: The Arrangement]

“I’ve got two spirits in one.”
That is a mic-drop worthy line, Sander Sanchez (Sander Eagleroad Sanchez). Sanchez hails from Denmark.  However, he’s half Native American (South Dakota) and half Dane. His Native American heritage is integral to his single, “Two Spirits”. In an intriguing article, Point of Pride describes Two-Spirit as “Identifying as Two-Spirit is a term and concept rooted in Indigenous cultures in North America, primarily among Native American, First Nations, and Indigenous peoples.” They go on to describe Two-Spirit persons as being both masculine and feminine. “Two Spirits” was written by Sanchez, Lise Cabble, and Marcus Winther-John, and produced by Rasmus Rex.

“Went dancing in the spotlight of a ritual / Learning to be my own individual.” 💯! Sander Sanchez’s Native American heritage is exhibited throughout “Two Spirits.” So is his individualism that won’t be threatened or derailed. Beyond the ritual mentioned in the introduction, he references the significance of nature.  Fearless, in the pre-chorus, Sanchez asserts, “I’ve got no shame to face my demons / Shame to show my love / I’ve got no shame, I taste the freedom / When I kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss my love.” He should be free and feel no shame whatsoever.  Kiss who you want, you handsome fella! Shame is a killer in the LGBTQ+ community that needs to be eradicated. In the chorus, he swears by “the rhythm of my drum,” and confirms his two-spiritedness 👏. Our talented Native American/Danish pop artist ate and left no crumbs on “Two Spirits.” He sings beautifully and expressively with incredible sincerity; you buy what he’s selling. The lyrics are poetic, meaningful, and uplifting (“They can shoot you down, try to kill the spark /… But they can never break my eagle heart”).  The musical backdrop is striking, with colorful keys, synths, and ample rhythm – the rhythm of HIS drum, after all! Big and grand, “Two Spirits” is nothing short of triumphant.

33. Sasha Keable, “tell me what you want”

“Tell me what you want from me / Is it my hands all over your body? / Or should I touch myself?”
Ooh-la-la, it’s getting “Hot In Herre”, Sasha Keable! The queer British/Colombian R&B singer-songwriter brings the heat without question on her steamy single, tell me what you want”, which appears on her 2026 album ACT II.  Who has Keable hot and bothered? Whoever this lady is that Sasha sings about throughout the record. Keable penned “tell me what you want” alongside P90pope and producers Eddie Lopes, Charlie Pitts, and Kent Azares.

Sasha Keable doesn’t hold back on “tell me what you want.” At the end of the first verse, she asserts, “Got me bitin’ harder on your necklace / Girl, just wanna thank you for your service.” Day-um! Sasha is more overt in the second verse, singing, “Fuck is a break when I’m on all fours for you? / Told me you ate, well, here I got some more for you.” 😈 😈 😈 Keable keeps it risqué in the pre-chorus following each verse, including the likes of “Your fingers so deep inside my body 👀,” and “Break it down, do your little dance on my body / Couple grand keep it real nasty for me.” That, of course, leads to the centerpiece, the chorus, in all its glory. Sasha praises this girl something fierce, given her inspired sexual performance:

“Ain’t gotta keep countin’

Stay down there till you’re drownin’

Still got endless rounds left

Girl, you make me the proudest

You done made me up a plateful

On my knees, I’m so grateful

Feels so good inside, I could die.”

Oh, and the sex doesn’t stop there, extending in the post-chorus.  All the while, Keable impresses with her commanding and soulful pipes.  She sings about sex expressively, and it’s easy to buy what she’s selling! Beyond her fabulous voice, tuneful melodies, and risqué lyrics, the production and sound of “tell me what you want” is impressive (keys, programming, etc.).  All in all, Sasha Keable ate and left no crumbs on this queer, contemporary R&B gem.

34. Slayyyter, “CRANK”

WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA » RECORDS Label LLC / Columbia Records » 2026

“I’m getting tweaky, I’m headin’ out, bitch I’m on to somethin’ / I stray just like a dog, addicted to that heavy fucking.”
Excuse me, Slayyyter?! She doesn’t mince her words on the unapologetic, sexed-up single, “CRANK”.  “I wanna get on it, jump on him, ride it until the mornin’,” she adds in the eyebrow-raising first verse. “CRANK” is the fifth track on her 2026 album, WOT$T GIRL IN AMERICA. She co-wrote this fierce, spicy banger with producers Austin Corona and Wyatt Bernard.

“CRANK” starts with a fucking bang 🤭.  It thrives on a sickening groove and hard-hitting beat.  That rhythm hits! Adding to the ear candy are noisy, vibrant synths.  Slayyyter keeps the same energy as the musical backdrop.  She delivers aggressive, distorted, and loud rapped vocals. She gets in your face with that sugar, honey, iced tea. The chorus is badass and unapologetic as fizzuck!

“I stay straight, I stay bad, I keep my finger on the trigger

I’m so wet, my hoes bad, if I get drunk, might have to ring her

She pick up, then we fuck, I get so gay off that tequila

I need some dick for Tuesday, let me go put out some feelers.”

Woo! Slayyyter embraces her bisexuality throughout, evidenced by the chorus.  The second verse continues to be unhinged – in the most sex-positive way possible!  A prime example of the outlandishness: “He wanna fuck Slayyyter, Richard, we should link later / Get to my hotel and suck him off in the elevator.” Yeah, let that sink in, Richard Linklater! All the while, she encourages, “crank it,” whether it’s pre-chorus or post-chorus. The bass-heavy instrumental ending is EVERYTHING! Bad to the bone, and infectious as ForUnderConsentoftheKing, there is no way you listen to “CRANK” and don’t move your body.

35. Spilata, “The Cuntiest”

“The Cuntiest” » Spilata » 2026

Spilata, The Cuntiest [📷: Spilata]

“I’m the cuntiest / And when it comes to jazz, I’m the one to this.”
Hold on a minute, Spilata.  I’m still gagged that you uttered C U Next Tuesday and added an -iest to it! Cuntiest? Wow! From the jump, Spilata is fearless as fuck on “The Cuntiest”, which he wrote and produced himself. Still, he’s quite sophisticated with his slick mouth: “The dandiest, the classiest, the fanciest / The only nonchalantly bon vivant to this…” Accompanied by Jon Thomas (piano), Liany Mateo (bass), and Charles Goold (drums), Spilata rejuvenates jazz for a brand-new generation of listeners.

The combo is locked-in, ‘in the pocket,’ accompanying Spilata show exhibits incredible musicianship.  He sings with ease yet packs a mean punch with every eyebrow-raising lyric.  The songwriting is poetic, in a shocking, dare I say, cunty sort of way, over the course of four verses. “I’m the cuntiest / The only Primadonna, I’m upfront with this,” he asserts in the second verse, and continues, “The business and the show, I’m the sum to this / So watch me while I blow and make you come to this.” Come, or, cum… Other standout moments include “The whole enchilada, I’m the fun to this / So many often try, but darling they’re too cis.” He’s not lying there! The chorus is also a whole vibe:

“I’m the cuntiest

The stuntiest

The one to this

The sum to this

That’s why you come to this

I’m the cuntiest.”

PERIOD! Spilata ate and left no crumbs on “The Cuntiest”.  For anyone skeptical about how fresh or innovative jazz music is in the 2020s, look no further than this bold, daring, and unapologetic bop.

36. Tsatsamis, “Recreational”

Tsycophant » Listen Generously » 2026

Tsatsamis, Tsycophant [📷: Listen Generously]

“It’s hard to believe / That someone so divine, a peach / Can cut me down so easily.”
Oh snap, Tsatsamis (Peter Tsatsamis-Cooper, he/him). The London-based artist and producer has a knack for creating some of the most intriguing, queer music your ears will ever hear.  What I’m saying is, Tsatamis deserves every bit of sweet praise – it’s giving, hallelujah!  While the excerpted lyric from “Recreational” makes it interesting, the most engrossing moments from the song are steamier – spicier. Tsatsamis and SAKIMA composed “Recreational.” Tsatsamis, SAKIMA, and Clarence Clarity produced it.

Tsatsamis’ desires are striking on “Recreational.” Soundtracking his desires is a vibrant, ultra-sleek backdrop. Propelled by a quick tempo readymade for the club, the musical accompaniment is comprised of driving, rhythmic synths and a relentless, danceable groove.  Meanwhile, Tsatsamis blesses and impresses with his sweet, yearning voice. With the guy shying away (no, no, no!), Tsatsamis must be honest and express himself.  “Want you to / Make my eyes roll back / Keep going till I’m folding / It brings me closer to you,” he sings in the pre-chorus, and adds, “I wanna take it how you take it / Go right to the edge, baby…” What more can you say but, DAMN?!  S meets E, and then they X! Of course, the recreational enters the picture next via, “Recreational drugs… sex… fantasy…” Self-explanatory and quite edgy, risqué, etc.  In the second verse, there’s some enemies-to-lover type shit, at least judging by the final confessional line.  Tsatsamis keeps it steamy, painting quite the intimate portrait. “I feel the heat / It’s rising from your body / When you’re next to me.” Ooh-wee, that needs no further explanation or unpacking! The handsome, talented, and horny Tsatsamis eats on “Recreational”. These recreational activities are giving no strings attached, PERIOD!

37. wavvyboi, “black glitter”

“You hate me just ‘cause I was born this way.”
Unfortunately, this happens far too often.  Liechtenstein singer-songwriter wavvyboi (Simon Vogt, he/she/they) nails it on their powerful song, “black glitter”. Haters are gonna hate, but wavvyboi is going to stay true to who they are. “The person I’ve become is here to stay,” they sing, and add, “You can hang me high, shoot me down / Burn me at the stake alive / I’m goin’ out in style.”  Absolutely! Wavvyboi, HARLEE, and Cameron Warren wrote “black glitter.” Wavvyboi and Cameron Warren produced it.

“Black glitter” shines from the opening notes. The production and sounds are sleek, striking, and vibrant.  There is a satisfying blend of pop and rock music cues – synths and guitars. Wavvyboi steals the show, delivering expressive and nuanced vocals. They show the full range of their abilities, with calm, cool, and collected moments, as well as high-flying, powerful, belted moments, performed in their upper register.  The melodies are tuneful, with the true-to-self theme and lyrics garnering the most attention. Wavvyboi is unwilling to compromise themself.  And guess what, you shouldn’t either! In the second verse, they assert, “I won’t stay in my lane / Gonna wear that dress / Put lipstick on my face /… I’ll die before I bow my head to you.”  Amen! The crème de la crème is the chorus, which beams with pride.

“I’m gonna wear black glitter tonight

Drag me up one more time

I’ll give you the show of your life

You can take me dead or alive

You can’t kill my pride

I’ll be wearin’ black glitter till the end of time.”

Bust out the black glitter and never cower to the haters or skeptics! Wavvyboi does the damn thing on “black glitter”, PERIODT!
