Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops served up. All genres are welcome, and both classics and new songs are recognized. So, without further ado, in the 42nd  edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “DIET” performed by Mad Tsai.

“Voulez-vous, mama told me I should not / Play with my food / But baby, can you hit the spot?”
👀 Oh, snap! Mad Tsai (Jonathan Tsai, he/him) is not really talking about food on his single, “DIET”.  Instead, our handsome (understatement), talented bisexual musician is talking about a B-O-Y.  I know what you’re thinking.  Since he’s bi, could he be referencing a girl? Nope! Context clues, my friends, specifically, the pre-chorus:

“Oral fixation

Need an escape in your muscular frame

It makes me a cannibal

You’re my religion

Pray ‘til my mouth is full

Hips syncopating

Boy, I wanna make you my.”

You heard/read it, folks: BOY! “DIET” was written by Tsai, Drew Polovick, David Balshaw, and Maria Landi. Balshaw and Polovick produced it.

Mad Tsai, DIET [📷: Mad Tsai / Rebellion Records]Mad Tsai’s lust is at an all-time high on “DIET.” He admits in the second verse that he’s “Feral and it’s primal / I’m a different breed.” And that’s after he asserted, “On my knees.” 😈 The chorus is the crème de la crème, where his diet is something else: “I’m a fiend for tongue and teeth, not a want but a need.” And, on the bridge, he’s really wild: “Fuck like an animal.” Mad Tsai brings the heat, performing with plenty of attitude.  He sings well, serving up a beautiful tone, bringing the melodies and naughty lyrics alive like a champ.  Adding to the ear-catching experience, “DIET” is well-produced.  The musical backdrop is vibrant, thanks to striking keys and synths, guitar, and a strong beat.  Too bad Tsai’s “DIET” won’t actually help with weight loss 😢.  BUT, it feels, dare I say, fucking good 🤭! And, I’ll leave you with one memorable lyric: “I’m gonna eat you whole.” Woo!
