Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops served up. All genres are welcome, and both classics and new songs are recognized. So, without further ado, in the 35th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “black glitter” performed by wavvyboi.

“You hate me just ‘cause I was born this way.”
Unfortunately, this happens far too often.  Liechtenstein singer-songwriter wavvyboi (Simon Vogt, he/she/they) nails it on their powerful song, “black glitter”. Haters are gonna hate, but wavvyboi is going to stay true to who they are. “The person I’ve become is here to stay,” they sing, and add, “You can hang me high, shoot me down / Burn me at the stake alive / I’m goin’ out in style.”  Absolutely! Wavvyboi, HARLEE, and Cameron Warren wrote “black glitter.” Wavvyboi and Cameron Warren produced it.

The production and sounds are sleek, striking, and vibrant.  There is a satisfying blend of pop and rock music cues – synths and guitars. Wavvyboi steals the show, delivering expressive and nuanced vocals. They show the full range of their abilities, with calm, cool, and collected moments, as well as high-flying, powerful, belted moments, performed in their upper register.  The melodies are tuneful, with the true-to-self theme and lyrics garnering the most attention. Wavvyboi is unwilling to compromise themself.  And guess what, you shouldn’t either! In the second verse, they assert, “I won’t stay in my lane / Gonna wear that dress / Put lipstick on my face /… I’ll die before I bow my head to you.”  Amen! The crème de la crème is the chorus, which beams with pride.

“I’m gonna wear black glitter tonight

Drag me up one more time

I’ll give you the show of your life

You can take me dead or alive

You can’t kill my pride

I’ll be wearin’ black glitter till the end of time.”

Bust out the black glitter and never cower to the haters or skeptics! Wavvyboi does the damn thing on black glitter”, PERIODT!
