Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E! Beaming with Pride celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  Here, we provide background and insight into musicians, analyze, plus go gaga over the decadent bops served up.  When songs dictate deeper and more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is fully articulated.  All styles of music are welcome, whether the songs are classics or brand-new. So, without further ado, in the 33rd edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Up & Down” performed by Rhian!.

“Spinning my head around /… You take me / Up and down and up and down.”
Yass! Yass! Yass! Trinidad 🇹🇹 is in the house… based in London. First things first, though. Rhian! (Rhian Guerrero), you look fierce as fuh on the cover art for “Up & Down” – no cap! Those biceps are bicep-ing 💪, while the glimpse of his pecs is hot 🥵. The face card is #GIVING, too. Don’t judge me for looking 👀.  Now that that is out of the way, let’s focus on the music. “Up & Down” exemplifies the soundtrack of the gay club, PERIODT.  I’m pretty sure that Rhian!, who is 🏳️‍🌈, intended it that way! While the lyrics aren’t explicit, Rhian! There is some innuendo. “Up and down,” huh? Hmm… “Up & Down” was written and produced by Rhian! and Massimo Braghieri.

Capturing the gay club, The synths on “Up & Down” are synth-tastic – assertive, thriving off their bite and rhythmic nature.  The stomping beat is the perfect catalyst to hit the dancefloor. Listening to such a mean, driving, in-your-face backdrop, there is no way your booty isn’t dancing. Beyond the backdrop, Rhian! brings ample attitude and personality to the track.  There aren’t a lot of lyrics, but day-um does he make them worthwhile. Thematically, Rhian! seems put off by the ride that this fella is taking him on. “Always changing your mind / Why’re you wasting my time,” he sings, and continues, “Telling me lies / Why can’t you / Make up your mind.” Literally, this man has my boi’s head spinning like mad! An up-and-down experience, he gives his all on the track. His tenor rides electro-centric instrumental like a champ, serving C-U-Next-Tuesday from the first notes and lyrics sung. Woo! A brief dance cut, “Up & Down” packs a mean punch. And, if the radio edit isn’t enough sexiness on the track, Rhian! gives us an extended mix to keep us dancing!
