Ezra Michel, I’m a F****t I’m a D*ke | Beaming with Pride

In the 78^th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “I’m a Faggot I’m a Dyke” performed by Ezra Michel.

All genres are welcome, and both classics and new songs are recognized. So, without further ado, in the 78^th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “I’m a Faggot I’m a Dyke” performed by Ezra Michel.

👀 Noted, Ezra Michel (Ezra Deran Michel, he/him). Also, worth noting: “I’m a Faggot I’m a Dyke” predates his band, The Pussyboys. Give Ezra ample credit for being true to himself and fearlessly unapologetic in his musical approach.  Faggot and dyke, both originally derogatory slurs, have been reclaimed, respectively, by the LGBTQ+ community.  Michel wrote and produced the two-and-a-half-minute, eyebrow-raising queer alternative cut.

“I’m a Faggot I’m a Dyke” is infectious from the get-go.  The groove plays a crucial role.  The guitar riffs and robust bass line are sweet, too.  The star of the show, however, is Ezra Michel, who brings plenty of personality.  He doesn’t have to force things, either.  The lyrics and playful spoken and sung vocals carry weight. Nothing beats the chorus, excerpted earlier.  How can you top that? But the verses are memorable in their short, sweet, and repetitive glory. “Try to hold me down / Put me in your pocket,” Ezra sings, and continues, “My head is like a crown / My heart is like a rocket.” The second verse is patterned similarly: “Your daddy wants me / Your brother’s getting lucky / Your sister would do anything / Your mother’s tryna fuck me.” Holy fuck, Ezra! In the bridge, he has lots of questions, with “You wanna be like me” recurring thrice.  The third and final verse combines the first verse and the chorus, with some tweaking.  He concludes, boldly, “Cause my head is a fucking crown / And my heart is a fucking faggot.” Ooh-wee! Ultimately, “I’m a Faggot I’m a Dyke” is an in-your-face cut that embraces gender and sexuality fearlessly.
