“It’s Friday night, and I can feel it buzzin’ like a fever, a fever.”
Indeed, Angrybaby, indeed! “Fever,” the sixth track from his EP, HYPERMOTION, commences with a bang, specifically, a pulsating piano. Soon enough, claps provide a percussive component, intensifying the emotion and the music itself.  Meanwhile, the effects-heavy, soulful vocals are a surefire vibe in their own right:  “I’m so alive, I can’t even describe how much I need ya, I need ya (I need ya) / Fever/ Fever.” Woo! The vocal harmonies, on the titular lyric, add to the specialness.  After the core instrumental, there is an awesome build to a bigger, more rhythmic backdrop… the keyword is the DROP, of course! The result is a song, with few words, that is infectious, irresistible, and danceable to the nth degree. The dance music speaks for itself, serving as the perfect soundtrack for a party on a Friday night or the weekend in general.  Therefore, what more is there to say? “Fever” is L-I-T.  The temperature is through the roof! It’s hot in here!

2. Alex Warren, “Fever Dream”

“Somethin’ ‘bout you hit me like a freight train to the chest, uh-huh.”
D-d-damn, Alex Warren! The Grammy-nominated pop singer-songwriter continues singing in the pre-chorus of his single, “Fever Dream”, “The day we met, uh-huh / My loneliness…” Your loneliness, what, Alex? Hmm… more to come via the chorus. Warren, Adam Yaron, Mags Duval, and CAL (Cal Shapiro) wrote “Fever Dream.” Yaron produced it.

“Fever Dream” gets off to a fast start thanks to the rhythmic piano chords and drums. Alex Warren delivers lovely, refined vocals. His performance could be described as non-flashy but sound, particularly during the verses.  “Maybe it’s fate, maybe it’s late / Told you I ain’t no liar,” he sings in the second verse, and concludes, “Watching you leave’s haunting my dreams.” Warren delivers a sound performance.  He’s most locked-in during the chorus, the section to beat.

“Left the room the second that you walked in, somethin’ like a fever dream

Haven’t slept in weeks, I think I’m seeing things

Like our shadows dancing us out of our clothes

I’ll be damned if you love me, damned if you don’t.”

That last damned lyric is by far the best damned lyric of the song! The bridge section successfully contrasts the verses and chorus, once more referencing that freight train! Woo! “Fever Dream” is a pleasant, well-rounded single from Alex Warren.

“Me confunde la realidad, eh / Tanta pastilla, oh / En mi sistema ya no… / Veo la vida igual / Ya no se siente igual, noo.”
Noted, Joaicon (Joan Moreta). The handsome and talented Dominican singer-songwriter shines on “FEVER DREAMZ,” the first full-length song from his debut album, THE PARTY DIDN’T FIX ME. “FEVER DREAMZ” is performed exclusively in Spanish.  The track features Saanleo, who produces alongside uGlyintheclub. “FEVER DREAMZ” shines thanks to its dazzling, sparkling rhythmic synths, which catch the ear from the beginning. Adding to the allure,  the beat slaps. Joaicon brings plenty of energy, singing sincerely. The lyrics suggest our artist is not in the best place. Translated into English, in the final three lines, Joaicon asserts, “Like a Rubik’s Cube, I confuse reality.” Word. The melodies are incredibly tuneful.  Even if you don’t understand Spanish, “FEVER DREAMZ” is an intriguing, two-minute-and-change vibe.

4. Lucky Daye, “Fever”

“Come on, my love, and take the best, yeah, that much of me / Ooh, baby, come back to me, ooh, come back to me.”
Say that, Lucky Daye (David Brown)! Those lyrics hail from the pre-chorus of “Fever,” the 15th track from his Grammy-nominated R&B album, Candydrip.  It begins enigmatically with a lush, synth-based instrumental intro. The tempo is slow; the song never gets in a rush.  The Grammy-winner sounds beautiful and nuanced as he sings.  Matters of the heart, and the bedroom drive the narrative of the song. “Mix and match the feeling we could possibly,” he sings in the verse, and continues, “Maybe, we keep stirrin’ up the chemistry / Kissin’, huggin’, squeezin’, I just gotta have you close.” In the chorus, the centerpiece, Daye informs us, in a ripe falsetto, that “I’ve got fever.”

“‘Cause I got fever

And don’t know how to leave her

Yeah, I got fever

Ooh, I don’t know how to leave her

Think I need her

Oh, I don’t know how to leave her, yeah

I think I need her

Oh, oh, I don’t think I could leave her.”

Ooh-wee! That is a fever that is tough to get rid of! Daye continues to sing expressively, with sophisticated, soul-dipped pipes. Other things that stand out about this feverish song are the guitar solo, the robust bass line, and the pop/rock drums/groove.  In short, Lucky Daye delivers another engaging, high-flying contemporary R&B joint with “Fever”. “You should be up under me, can you take the heat?” Absolutely!  Ali P, xSDTRK, Pierre-Luc Rioux, and D’Mile produced this fever-filled excellence.

5. Adam Lambert, “Fever”

For Your Entertainment » 19 Recordings Ltd. » 2009

Adam Lambert, For Your Entertainment [📷: 19 Recordings Ltd.]Early in Adam Lambert’s career, he dropped a cover that ultimately became his song: “Fever”.  “Fever” appeared as the 10th track on his 2009 debut LP, For Your Entertainment.  Notably, one of the writers is Lady Gaga. Not only is Gaga the composer, but she originally recorded it 🤯! Lambert’s version is gay, glammy, and over the top.

“There he goes / My baby walks so slow / Sexual tic-tac-toe,”
Lambert – or should I say, Glambert – sings in the suggestive opening verse.  He maintains the sensual vibes, adding, “We’ll never get too far / Just you, me, and the bar / Silly ménage à trois, sometimes.” Holy shiitake mushrooms 😈!  The fierceness truly shines in the chorus where the F-E-V-E-R is pronounced for Adam!

“Oh baby, lights on

But your mom’s not home

I’m sick of laying down alone, hey

With this fever, fever, yeah

My one and own

I wanna get you alone

Give you fever, fever, yeah.”

Breaking down this fever, it’s lust – horniness.  The fever he’s going to give his crush is, well, a case of S meets E, and then they X 😈.  Risqué but not too risqué, “Fever” is one of many bops from the Adam Lambert collection.  For the time (2009), the fact that the pronoun was he as opposed to she was big. Embrace the “Fever” as it pushes two decades old!
