“I touch MYSELF just thinkin’ about you.”
👀 No explanation necessary, kwn! Oklahoman country singer-songwriter Wyatt Flores is not happy… with himself: “Baby, I wish I could hate you like I hate MYSELF for lettin’ you go.” And what about the late 😢 Oliver Tree? “No, no way / Myself included / I don’t really wanna be that way.” The common thread: MYSELF! 13 MYSELF and MYSELF Only Songs is exactly what it says it is – about MYSELF, duh! In addition to the three musicians mentioned earlier, this 13-song musical compendium features songs by Artemas, Céline Dion, and Divinyls. So, without further ado, let’s dive into these ultra-selfish MYSELF songs, shall we?!

“I touch myself just thinkin’ about you.”
Kwn said, rather, sang, what she said on “touch myself”, PERIODT! It is the fourth track from her 2026 album, and all pride aside. Kwn and producers FaxOnly and Zeek wrote it. “Touch myself” shines for a variety of reasons. The shine begins with the lush, sensual contemporary R&B backdrop. Early on, beyond the keys and synths, there are stormy sound effects. I love the use of pitched-down vocals, which recur within the accompaniment. Kwn delivers beautiful vocals. You can hear the authenticity and sincerity in her vocal performance. I adore her rich, low register, as well as the ad-libs and runs. Beyond her lead vocals and the pitch-shifted vocals, I love the background vocals that appear throughout the song.  The theme and lyrics encompass desire. “Oh, I’ve been fiendin’ for your body / It’s concernin’ how much I’m invested,” she sings in the first verse, and continues, “Girl, I’m yearnin’ and it’s hurtin’ / Knowin’ you not up in my bed.” Ooh-wee! In the second, she admits to being “sexually frustrated” and asks her to “Come and take a tour of this bedroom floor / On all fours.”  The chorus, excerpted earlier, is the crème de la crème. The bridge distinguishes itself from everything else.  Notably, it features a starkly different harmonic progression.  Still, the lyrics are related to everything else (“So come right on and touch me, girl / I am not, not no pillow princess / I can’t wait up no more”).  Post-bridge, the listener is treated to a timely modulation that ups the ante. All told, “touch myself” is not only a superb bedroom cut but also ranks among the best songs of 2026.

2. Lancing Ruel, “MYSELF”

“Said, I got big dog status / Fuck if you heard something else / I need Rick Ross money / I want Bezos typa wealth.”
Woo! Independent Mississippi rapper Lancing Ruel said what he said on “MYSELF,” the 15th track on his 2026 album, MR. NYCE GUY. “MYSELF” features simple but highly effective production (keys, drum programming) set in a minor key. The melodic rapped chorus, excerpted earlier, is buttery smooth.  He continues, “Can’t depend on nobody / Ain’t nobody good for help / If I got it, get it done, then I do that shit myself.” Lancing Ruel drops a compelling, easygoing cadence and flow initially. He goes H.A.M. as the record progresses in the second verse:

“Yeah, big body spinnin’ in the Benz

Glock tucked in designer fit

Real with it all I do is win

Been a dog in and out the pen

Bad body bitch fuck her til’ she piss or til’ she gives me kids

Is what it is, Ima buy the whip

I don’t ever rent, box outta state

Ima leave a tip.”

Do you know what else is intriguing about “MYSELF?” After failing to secure a feature from Kevin Gates, he does his best Gates impression, and it’s spot on –  you can’t unhear it!

3. Céline Dion, “All By Myself”

Falling Into You » Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. » 1996

Céline Dion, Falling Into You [📷: Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc.]

“When I was young / I never needed anyone / And making love was just for fun / Those days are gone.”
When everybody and his brother cover your song, you know you have something special on your hands.  The late, great Eric Carmen (1949 – 2024) created an epic, epic song in “All By Myself”. One of the best covers of this gem comes from one of the greatest singers of all time, Céline Dion. “All By Myself” appears as the sixth track on her Grammy-winning, multiplatinum, 1996 LP, Falling Into You. Released as the fourth single from the album, “All By Myself” peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA.

So, what makes “All By Myself” by Céline Dion a winner? It’s the voice, DUH! Dion sings Carmen’s tuneful melodies with incredible poise in the first and second verses, barely breaking a sweat.  She rises to the occasion in the initial chorus that follows without dare over-singing:

“All by myself

Don’t wanna be

All by myself

Anymore.”

Soon enough, she brings things back down in the third verse, only to rise once more in the following chorus, continuing the ebb and flow.  Afterwards, a marvelous instrumental section keeps things engaging, going in a different direction from the verses and chorus.  She then returns, repeating the first verse (and why not, it’s awesome), and delivers the most powerful chorus yet which leads to an epic modulation.  At this point, Dion riffs and sings her face off against a thrilling pop/rock backdrop that includes gorgeous strings (David Foster arranged and produced). Simply put, Dion’s rendition of the beloved Eric Carmen classic was adult contemporary gold in the 1990s. Her take on “All By Myself” still sends those chills.

4. Artemas, “myself”

getting up to no good » Artemas » 2026

Artemas, getting up to no good [📷: Artemas]

“Each night that I spiral thinkin’ ‘bout you / ‘Cause I hate to see you happier than me.”
English singer, songwriter, and producer Artemas (Artemas Diamandis) has himself in mind on “myself”. Now that’s plain selfish! “Myself” is the 10th track from his 2026 mixtape, getting up to no good.  Artemas wrote and produced it himself. “Myself” begins abruptly, with Artemas singing the first verse.  Once more, he gives us a minor key that amplifies the dark vibes.  The tempo is slower, with Artemas delivering an expressive, well-rounded vocal. His falsetto, which appears during the chorus, is delightful – incredibly ripe. Fittingly, he gives us the f-bombs we deserve during the chorus. Those bombs only accentuate his emotions, as he sings about wanting this girl for himself, and how he feels jealous when she fucks somebody else.

“Even if it hurts, I want you to myself

I want you to myself

I want you to myself

Even though you fucked me up, I want you to myself…

Did you know you broke my heart

When you fucked somebody else?”

… I want you to myself.”

Ooh-wee! That’s deep.  Even with the edge, the melodies are tuneful, while the lyrics are memorable. The second verse continues Artemas’ spiral: “Maybe I’ll just hook up with your best friend / She was always for the taking anyways.” Charming. All told, “Myself” marks another winning, dark pop record for Artemas.  Never change, A.D.

5. The Beaches, “Touch Myself”

No Hard Feelings » The Beaches / AWAL Recordings America, Inc » 2025

The Beaches, No Hard Feelings [📷: The Beaches / AWAL Recordings America, Inc]

“You said I should / Try to come again / But when I do / Dark thoughts creep on in.”
Come, huh? Is that the right form of the word? Anyways, the innuendo is ripe from Canadian alternative rock band The Beaches (Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl, and Eliza Enman-McDaniel). Unfortunately for lead singer Jordan Miller, no action goes down on “Touch Myself”.  Why? Per the chorus of the fourth track from the collective’s 2025 album, No Hard Feelings, “But I’m scared to even touch myself / ‘Cause when I do, I think of you, oh-oh.” Uh-oh – it’s giving a heaping dose of heartbreak 💔. Per Stereo Gum, in a press release, The Beaches stated the following about “Touch Myself”:

‘Touch Myself’ is a song about being so heartbroken you can’t even masturbate, because when you do, it just makes you think of your ex. It’s about how grief can sneak into the most private parts of your life and leave you feeling totally wrecked.”

You know it’s bad when you can’t enjoy solo time. Jordan penned “Touch Myself” with her bandmates, Kylie, Leandra, and Eliza, as well as with Justin Tranter and Ryland Blackinton.

“I’m okay in the sunlight,” Miller sings in the first verse, and continues, “The memories are wasted in the nighttime.” Yep, because that’s a great time to… you, know. Interestingly, she asserts in the second verse, “Up my insurance.” Why, Jordan? “Got therapy bills in the millions.” The need for therapy is the result of heartbreak.  She gets even more personal about private matters in the third verse, mentioning her toys. But, again, they aren’t being used: “‘Cause everything waist down is broken /… ‘Cause the strap’s in the trash with my self-esteem.” To sum things up, the heartbreak 💔 on “Touch Myself” is a serious bummer.  The musicianship, however, is not a bummer in the least.  The driving alternative pop/rock backdrop is #winning, particularly given the pace – a nice, medium tempo. Jordan brings the heat, delivering a commanding, expressive, and striking vocal performance.  You might say, The Beaches ate and left no crumbs on this alluring, non-masturbatory heartbreak anthem.

6. Joey Valence & Brae, “MYSELF”

HYPERYOUTH (afterparty) » RCA Records » 2026

Joey Valence & Brae, HYPERYOUTH (afterparty)[📷: RCA Records]

“Put your hands up, put your hands up (Can’t do it like me).”
Easy enough to do, Joey Valence & Brae. The duo dropped a banger with “MYSELF,” the 12th track from their 2026 album, HYPERYOUTH (afterparty). It was written by Joey Valence (Joseph Bertolino) and Brae (Braedan Lugue). Valence produced it. Notably, “MYSELF” samples multiple elements from “Fairy Tale” by Kevin I. and “Year of the 7” by Bijan, Dom Bailey, and LaRussell.

The sampling gives the song chill, soulful vibes early on. Joey Valence encourages those hands to the sky, which eventually appear in the centerpiece, the chorus. “MYSELF” is anchored by a hard-hitting, boom-bap old-school hip-hop beat. Both artists deliver agile, confident, and entertaining rhymes. Brae delivers a strong performance during the first verse. “I am limited edition / One of one, you can keep wishing,” he raps, and continues, “That you could be like Brae / You can wish, you can pray, it’ll never be your day.” Beyond his chorus, Joey Valence brings the goods in the second verse, keeping the same energy as Brae. “Life moving too fast, can’t stop me / Up on two wheels like I’m Drake in Degrassi,” he spits, and continues, “Made a couple millies off a hobby / And I still live with my mama.” Noted. A sampled Kevin I. gets his moment during the interlude (“It’s just a fairytale that won’t come true / It’s just a fairytale and I think about”). The outro is interesting, too. “My life ain’t so bad / You drive so fast / To the silence, baby.” “MYSELF” = quite a listening experience.

7. Wyatt Flores, “Hate Myself”

Scared of Heights » OEG Records, LLC / Island Records » 2026

“I can’t get mad, I can’t get even / I’m the one who did the leavin’.”
Uh-oh! Those pesky matters of the heart have reared their head, Wyatt Flores! The Oklahoman country singer confesses in the pre-chorus of “Hate Myself” that he’s the one who ended things, hence where the self-hate comes into play. “Hate Myself” is the opener from Flores’ 2026 album, Scared of Heights. Flores, Dark Waves, Grady Block, and Jacob Kasher composed it; Charlie Handsome and Jacob Kasher produced it.

“Hate Myself” commences with bright rhythmic guitars. Wyatt Flores delivers lovely, easygoing vocals. He doesn’t do too much during the first verse, even though he wishes “Wish you woulda cheated / Wish you woulda stabbed me in my back.” Flores adds a bit more punch to the chorus, with more twang. Melodic throughout, the chorus is the crème de la crème; it’s incredibly tuneful and memorable lyrically:

“Baby, I wish I could hate you like I hate myself for lettin’ you go

I hope that you’re losin’ sleep and dealin’ with the same kinda lonely nights

I’m drinkin’ through these bottles of memories

I know it ain’t your fault, so I take it out on me

Baby, I wish I could hate you like I hate myself for lettin’ you go.”

As the record progresses, it grows more dynamic, including more assertive vocals by Flores.  In the second verse, he continues to regret leaving her and can’t get her off his mind (“But I know you’re down in Dallas staying far away from me / I swear I’m seeing things”).  Heartbroken songs never get old. Wyatt Flores delivers a good one with “Hate Myself”.

8. JORDY, “SEX WITH MYSELF”

SEX WITH MYSELF » JORDY » 2024

JORDY, SEX WITH MYSELF AND IT LASTS LONGER [📷: JORDY / EMPIRE]

“It’s better alone ‘cause I know / Just what to do more than you.”
The sex, I mean, that line ‘hits different,’ JORDY (Jordy Shulman)! Rather than rely on the stimulation of a boy who isn’t coming to the party, Shulman has decided to have sex with himself on “SEX WITH MYSELF”.  The boldly titled “SEX WITH MYSELF” is the seventh track of his sophomore album, fittingly titled Sex with Myself.  Yes, the song is quite, um, masturbatory, but it goes beyond the physical stimulation of solo touch.  “Put on a show of my own / And I’ll follow through,” the sexy, talented artist continues singing in the pre-chorus. “I’ll just have sex with myself / I’m obsessed with myself / I’ll keep my hands to myself…” This ode to self-pleasure and acknowledging, ‘I don’t have to have a man to fulfill me’ was written by JORDY and Perry Xthona alongside producers Alex Borel and Colin Foote.  The sound is danceable, flirty, and, of course, sexy.  Upping the ante are the playful vocals by JORDY. He seems unbothered that it’s just him and his body. “Think I’m catching feels / Fall in love, think I might be the one,” he sings in the second verse, concluding, “Me myself and I’m getting closer.” Hmm, getting closer to what, handsome 🥵 😮‍💨? Anyways, if the audio titillates, watch the music video. Not only does JORDY have a blast, all alone, the way he simulates the sex with himself, tastefully, mind you, is hawt… On the sleek, sexy “SEX WITH MYSELF”, Jordy makes ‘self-sex’ sexy… or sexier… You catch my drift.

9. MKSM, “Loving Myself”

Last One (EP) » Milch Musik » 2023

MKSM, Last One [📷: Milch Musik]

“I could spend more time on loving myself.”
So many of us could, MKSM, particularly if you are a member of a marginalized community.  The openly gay, Berlin-based singer, songwriter, and violinist delivers an authentic, honest, and uplifting song with “Loving Myself”.  “Loving Myself” appears as the fourth and final track from MKSM’s 2023 EP, Last One (EP).  He’s potent on this track of self-acceptance and loving oneself.

“Loving Myself” was written by MKSM alongside Linda Stark, Maxi Schulze, and producer Thilo Wehrmann.  Both the music and lyrics are terrific. Beginning with the music – the production – Wehrmann puts in superb work behind the boards. The sound exemplifies modern pop, in all its slickness. Also, what about those strings 🎻?  Beyond that shimmering backdrop, MKSM compels with gorgeous vocals. He gets a lift (positively) with colorful vocal production and effects, which play into this fresh, fresh vibe. More important than the production is the songwriting – the theme and lyrics. MKSM is authentic and sincere from the onset. “All the double tapping on my phone / So I would never feel alone / On my own in my illusionary home,” he sings in the first verse, being transparent about his struggles. You can infer struggles are multilayered – body image, sexuality, etc. By the second verse, the lyrics suggest he (the character in the song) is learning to love himself sans an illusory home: “Hey, there’s no need to be ashamed / It takes some time to feel this way / And that’s okay, it doesn’t have to be today.” Man, oh man, does that hit home! Rome wasn’t built in a day, particularly when it comes to hard, painful issues. The chorus is the crème de la crème, where the love is pronounced!

“I could spend more time on loving myself

No need for explanations when I’m loving myself

Could be chasing dreams of somebody else

But I’d rather spend more time on loving myself.”

MKSM shines on “Loving Myself”, a perfect song about accepting who you are and ultimately, loving who you are.  MKSM says it best: you don’t have to explain anything when you love yourself. The pop bop not only the LGBTQ+ community needs, but the entire world.

10. Alx Luke, “i fuck with myself”

“i fuck with myself” » SaintX » 2023

Alx Luke, i fvck with myself [📷: SaintX]

“I fuck with myself, I’m driving me crazy.”
Wow, Alx Luke (Aleksandr Lukanov), that’s being ultra-transparent – and potty-mouthed! The buff 💪, handsome 😍 (see his IG) singer/songwriter and cirque aerialist doesn’t hold back on the explicit pop joint, “i fuck with myself”.  What’s interesting about f-bomb 💣 – the art of fuckery, if you will (🤣) – is the context.  Is Alx Luke giving us TMI in terms of self-pleasure because he’s lonely and missing this guy (an ex) or is he fucking with himself in the head? While it’s hard to resist sexual innuendo, particularly if you can sneak a masturbatory reference into a pop song 😏, the latter seems to be the case.

“I fuck with myself, I guess I’m just crazy

I need you out of my head, yeah, yeah, yeah

Can’t get you out of my head, yeah, yeah.”

“I fuck with myself” focuses on the emotional toil that Alx Luke is experiencing, making the song title a bit deceptive. He is trying to cope with the absence of this man but he’s getting deeper and deeper down this rabbit hole of heartbrokenness 💔. You hate to see it, but then again, when the voice is as sweet as Luke’s, particularly that falsetto, and the production is #GIVING, you totally love to hear it 😜.  Admit it, you’re a little disappointed “i fuck with myself” isn’t sexual, aren’t ya? Also, worth noting, there’s “i fuck with myself… (Dj Break Remix)”.

11. Oliver Tree, “Me, Myself & I”

Ugly is Beautiful » Atlantic Recording Corporation » 2020

Oliver Tree, Ugly is Beautiful [📷: Atlantic Recording Corporation]

“Wait, it’s me / What you thought it’d be? / Something else is / But it’s not your fault, it’s mine.”
It’s still hard to believe that ‘late’ must precede Oliver Tree (Oliver Tree Nickell). While the unique singer-songwriter is no longer with us, he left some captivating music, including songs like “Me, Myself & I”. “Me, Myself & I” is the opener from his 2020 debut album, Ugly Is Beautiful. Tree composed and produced this song with DJ/producer Whethan (Ethan Snoreck).

The form of “Me, Myself & I” is interesting: Verse one/pre-chorus/chorus/refrain/verse two/bridge/pre-chorus/ chorus.  The sound is ear-catching, led by the driving, lively rhythmic guitar synth and a syncopated, hip-hop-like groove that recurs at different times. The song begins abruptly with the first verse. Oliver Tree’s vocals are heavily processed – distortion, baby! The lyrics are also intriguing, as Tree seems to be conversing with himself. “No way, I thought it’s great / What the hell was some kind of mistake?” he sings in the second verse, and adds, “That’s you, what you thought it’d be?” Um, sure… The chorus stands out:

“You know I don’t speak out

I’m feeling fairly weak, and I can barely speak

I started to freak out

‘Cause I can barely talk, I feel too weak to walk

I’m trying to leave now

I’m feeling fairly weak, and I can barely speak

I started to freak out

‘Cause I can barely talk, I feel too weak to walk.”

A refrain precedes the second verse. A bridge follows the second verse. Both mention the keyword: MYSELF. “No, no way / Myself included / I don’t really wanna be that way.” Noted. Ultimately, “Me, Myself & I” is a captivating listening experience. RIP Oliver Tree.

12. Divinyls, “I Touch Myself”

Divinyls » Virgin Records America, Inc. » 1991

Divinyls » Divinyls [📷: Virgin Records America, Inc.]

“I love myself / I want you to love me,”
Christina Amphlett (1959 – 2013), the lead singer of the Australian rock band Divinyls, sings in the first verse of “I Touch Myself”. Amphlett continues, “When I’m feelin’ down / I want you above me.” Oh, snap! “I Touch Myself” is the second track from Divinyls’ self-titled, gold-certified 1991 album. Amphlett, Billy Steinberg, Mark McEntee, and Tom Kelly penned “I Touch Myself.” Amphlett, McEntee, and David Tickle produced it.  A pop hit, “Touch” peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.

“I Touch Myself” begins with an enigmatic instrumental intro. The intro establishes a great build-up that sets the tone for this fun, risqué classic.  The melodies are tuneful from the beginning.  Interestingly, the song is written in F major.  That said, the verses treat C as the key center.  This adds to the distinctness of the sound (the B-flat in F major’s key signature would be a lowered 7th in C). Amphlett’s vocals are distinct, marvelously capturing self-pleasure and a strong desire for him.  The sexual innuendo is spot on.  “You’re the one who makes me come running,” she sings in the second verse, and adds, “You’re the sun who makes me shine.”  In the third verse, she informs us, “I get down on my knees / I’d do anything for you.” Oh, that spotless innuendo!  Of course, the section to beat is the ultra-memorable chorus, firmly planted in F major without complications:

“I don’t want anybody else

When I think about you, I touch myself, oh-oh.”

No explanation necessary there.  She’s done it, I’ve done it, you’ve done it… “I Touch Myself” is one of the great, inescapable gems of the 1990s.  Divinyls dropped a pleasure-filled, un-touchable classic!

13. Eric Carmen, “All By Myself”

Eric Carmen » Arista » 1975

Eric Carmen, Eric Carmen [📷: Arista]

“All by myself / Don’t want to be all by myself anymore.”
On March 11, 2024, the world lost a talented musician in Eric Carmen (1949 – 2024). Throughout the course of his career, Carmen charted 13 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including three top-five hits. The song to beat, however is the beloved and timeless “All By Myself”, which peaked at no. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976. Written solely by Carmen, the gold-certified single samples (interpolates) the gorgeous,  Piano Concert No. 2 in C Minor, Opus 18, 2nd Movement by Russian Romantic composer, Sergei Rachmaninoff.  Oft covered, “All By Myself” is one of the great soft rock classics of the 1970s, appearing as the fourth track on Eric Carmen (1975).

Eric Carmen spares no length on “All By Myself.” The classic runs more than seven minutes in duration.  Of course, it is a magnificent, worthwhile seven minutes! First and foremost, Carmen sings wonderfully. His tone is superb, with no shortage of expression throughout the course of his performance. The melodies he composed are tuneful in the verses, and of course, the centerpiece, the chorus (excerpted above).  Thematically, Carmen feels lonely, hence why he doesn’t “want to live all by myself anymore.”  In the third verse, he sings, “Had to be sure / Sometimes I feel so insecure / And love so distant and obscure / Remains the cure.” Besides strong vocals, relatable and memorable lyrics, and tuneful melodies, the production and arrangement are top-notch.  The brilliance of Rachmaninoff shines through, repurposed masterfully by Carmen.  Combine Russian Romanticism, lush strings, and 70s soft rock cues, and the vibe is epic.  The epic extended instrumental section deserves acknowledgement too! Post-instrumental, Carmen knocks the ending of “All By Myself” out of the park.
