In the spirited column Wacky Wednesday, we analyze and explore unique, unusual, or wacky songs from different genres.  These songs can be new or old; the only requirement is that they ‘catch the ears’ because of their distinctiveness.  With the background established, in the 38^th edition of Wacky Wednesday (2026), we break down the unique “Me, Myself & I”, performed by Oliver Tree. It’s still hard to believe that ‘late’ must precede Oliver Tree (Oliver Tree Nickell). While the unique singer-songwriter is no longer with us, he left some captivating music, including songs like “Me, Myself & I.” “Me, Myself & I” is the opener from his 2020 debut album, Ugly Is Beautiful. Tree composed and produced this song with DJ/producer Whethan (Ethan Snoreck).

The form of “Me, Myself & I” is interesting: Verse one/pre-chorus/chorus/refrain/verse two/bridge/pre-chorus/ chorus.  The sound is ear-catching, led by the driving, lively rhythmic guitar synth and a syncopated, hip-hop-like groove that recurs at different times. The song begins abruptly with the first verse. Oliver Tree’s vocals are heavily processed – distortion, baby! The lyrics are also intriguing, as Tree seems to be conversing with himself. “No way, I thought it’s great / What the hell was some kind of mistake?” he sings in the second verse, and adds, “That’s you, what you thought it’d be?” Um, sure… The chorus stands out:

“You know I don’t speak out

I’m feeling fairly weak, and I can barely speak

I started to freak out

‘Cause I can barely talk, I feel too weak to walk

I’m trying to leave now

I’m feeling fairly weak, and I can barely speak

A refrain precedes the second verse. A bridge follows the second verse. Both mention the keyword: MYSELF. “No, no way / Myself included / I don’t really wanna be that way.” Noted. Ultimately, “Me, Myself & I” is a captivating listening experience. RIP Oliver Tree.
