Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (3/13/21): Morgan Wallen spends his 8th consecutive week atop the Billboard 200.
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β To reiterate what I said last week (π Wallen & Rodrigo are Unstoppable: Scanning the Charts π No. 9), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that π© moving.Β This week, I picked out SIX Β notable observations π from the Billboard 200 π, Β and FOUR observations π from the Billboard Hot 100 π, with π Morgan Wallen spending his 8th consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with πΏ Dangerous: The Double Album.

Billboard 200 πΒ
π Yeah, at this point, the first thought bubble on Scanning the Charts is pretty much βrinse and repeat.β π Morgan Wallen spends an eighth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with πΏ Dangerous: The Double Album.Β This is definitely a dominant chart performance (controversy aside), and honestly, Mr. Wallen has had little βchart pressureβ on him to relinquish that π΅ βNumber One Spotβ #Ludacris.
π As Keith Caulfield pointed out on his weekly write-up, there are no new albums in the top 10.Β Itβs not surprising, hence, Wallen, who has the hottest album out, has continued to capitalize given no resistance.Β The sole new album in top 40 arrives courtesy of π Julien Baker (πΏ Little Oblivions, no. 39).
π Shock rock icon π Alice Cooper sneaks into the top 50 with πΏ Detroit Stories, which launches at no 47.
π Country music icon π Willie Nelson debuts at no. 58 with πΏ Thatβs Life.
π π Madison Beer only dents the Billboard 200.Β Her proper debut album, πΏ Life Support, debuts modestly at no. 65.
π Hard rocking, British metalcore collective π Architects donβt exactly set the charts on fire themselves. πΏ For Those That Wish to Exist, the follow-up to πΏ Holy Hell (2018), debuts at no. 80.
Billboard Hot 100 πΒ
π π Olivia Rodrigo spends an eighth consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with π΅ βDrivers Licenseβ. Β Honestly, this is the biggest headline of the Hot 100.
π π Pop Smoke debuts posthumously at no. 64 with π΅ βAP.β
π π Post Malone charts another Hot 100 single with π΅ βOnly Wanna Be With Youβ at no. 74.
π π Elle King and π Miranda Lambert debut at no. 90 with the fantastic βDrunk (And I Donβt Wanna Go Home)β.
