Taylor Swift Returns to No. 1 with Evermore: Scanning the Charts ๐Ÿ“‰ No. 23 [๐Ÿ“ท : Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Taylor Swift]Scanning the Charts (6/12/21): Taylor Swift returns to no. 1 with Evermore, while BTS spend a second week at no. 1 with โ€œButter.โ€ ย

Well, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.ย  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isnโ€™t extensive, but rather short and sweet.ย  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations from the Billboard 200 ๐Ÿ“‰, ย and FIVE observations from the Billboard Hot 100 ๐Ÿ“‰, with ๐ŸŽ™ Taylor Swift returning to no. 1 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Evermore, while BTS spend a second week at no. 1 with the buttery smooth, ๐ŸŽต โ€œButterโ€.

Billboard 200 ๐Ÿ“‰

Taylor Swift, evermore [๐Ÿ“ท : Taylor Swift]๐Ÿ’ญย  Move over ๐ŸŽ™ย  Olivia Rodrigo (๐Ÿ’ฟ ย SOUR )! Taylor Swift returns to the top of the Billboard 200 (ascending all the way from no. 74 to no. 1) with her critically acclaimed second surprise LP of 2020, ๐Ÿ’ฟ ย Evermore.ย  Worth noting, the return to no. 1 comes in Evermoreโ€™s 25th week on the charts.ย  Also, it didnโ€™t do puny numbers โ€“ it moved 202,000 units according to Keith Caulfield! As for Rodrigo, she still has a sizable second week with SOUR in the runner-up spot.

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ย  DMX sees his posthumous album, ๐Ÿ’ฟ ย Exodus launch at no. 8.ย  Exodus is the sole debut in the top-50 of the Billboard 200.ย  Yikes!ย  The next debut comes from ๐ŸŽ™ Blackberry Smoke courtesy of ๐Ÿ’ฟ You Hear Georgia at no. 55.ย

๐Ÿ’ญ While ๐Ÿ’ฟย  Evermore may be โ€˜getting itโ€™s shine onโ€™ on the Billboard 200, Swiftโ€™s 2021 album, ๐Ÿ’ฟย  Fearless (Taylorโ€™s Version), isnโ€™t experiencing the same degree of love. The rerecorded version of her 2008 Grammy-winning album slides from no. 45 to no. 57 in only its 8th week on the charts.ย  Of course, Fearless (Taylorโ€™s Version) debuted at no. 1.ย

๐Ÿ’ญ Continuing on a lackadaisical Billboard 200, ๐ŸŽ™ย  Sleepy Hallow secures a top-150 debut with ๐Ÿ’ฟย  Still Sleep? at no. 144.ย  Ugh โ€“ totally NOT sexy, I know.ย  Furthermore, itโ€™s the final debut on the entirety of the 200-spot chart.ย

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ย  The Black Keys released a solid, enjoyable blues album with ๐Ÿ’ฟ ย Delta Kream.ย  Unfortunately, it hasnโ€™t been a commercial success.ย  Delta Kream, which has spent a mere three weeks on the charts, started at no. 6, slipped to no. 102, and this week, slides to no. 187.ย  Ouch!

Billboard Hot 100 ๐Ÿ“‰

BTS, "Butter" [๐Ÿ“ท : BIGHIT / HYBE]๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ BTS lockdown the no. 1 spot on the Hot 100 for the second consecutive week. ย Safe to say ๐ŸŽต โ€œButterโ€ is a hit baby! Interestingly, like on the Billboard 200, ๐ŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo finds herself in the runner-up spot as ๐ŸŽต โ€œgood 4 uโ€ spends its second consecutive week stuck behind the K-Pop band after debuting at no. 1.

๐Ÿ’ญ Like the Billboard 200, the Hot 100 is a bore for the most part this week.ย  The highest charting debut (no. 62 mind you) comes from ๐ŸŽ™ Eminem featuring ๐ŸŽ™ Jack Harlow and ๐ŸŽ™ Cordae on ๐ŸŽต โ€œKiller.โ€ ย Not exactly igniting the chartsโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ’ญ Following Eminemโ€™s debut, there are two more debuts in the 60s on the Hot 100.ย  ๐ŸŽ™ Cochise and $NOT launch at no. 64 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œTell Emโ€ while ๐ŸŽ™ Rauw Alejandro starts at no. 66 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œTodo de Ti.โ€

๐Ÿ’ญ Country musician ๐ŸŽ™ Chase Rice gets some love at no. 75 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œDrinkinโ€™ Beer. Talkinโ€™ God. Amenโ€ which features ๐ŸŽ™ Florida Georgia Line.

๐Ÿ’ญ At no. 81, ๐ŸŽ™ Lil Baby and ๐ŸŽ™ Lil Durk see the title track of their collaborative album, ๐Ÿ’ฟ Voice of the Heroes bow.
