Welcome to Music Lifts, featuring songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs that exude fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity.  Featured songs aren’t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights!  In the 39th edition of Music Lifts (2026), we highlight “Heaven had a phone (release em)” as performed by Neace Robinson.

“Only wished that Heaven had a phone.”
Louisiana singer-songwriter Neace Robinson (Melissa Robinson), aka the Funeral Stud, earned a viral moment in 2025 with “Heaven had a phone (release em).”  The song dates back to 2018, but the TikTok videos of her performing it ‘blew up’ seven years later.  In the videos, Robinson’s performance is authentic and emotional, even when her pitch faltered.  Regardless, a re-recorded, studio version of her viral single packs a mean punch, with better pitch! Robinson wrote “Heaven had a phone (release em).” Lakino Henderson produced it, while Jeremy Minor co-produced it.

“I wish that Heaven had a phone to call you up

To hold a conversation about problems gettin’ tough

It’s never enough for my mistakes

‘Cause my body’s shutting down and my spirits gettin’ drained

…It’s over, cover me now ’cause the Devil is trying, tryna tear me down.”

The melodies are tuneful, the lyrics are memorable, and the message is thoughtful.  Neace follows up with an emotional verse, where she petitions for strength and needs to be freed from the pain: “All through the night I dream every sweat and fear away / And through the night I hear my heart cry this melody.” Other moments catch the ear when it comes to “Heaven had a phone,” including the balloon release: “1,2, 1-2-3 release ‘em.” Neace’s vocals soar at the end, particularly in the studio version; her upper register is sick and filled with power 💪 (“It ain’t over, it ain’t over, no / Devil, you can’t win”).  An entertaining viral moment with an incredibly positive, relatable message, Neace Robinson ‘did her big one’ with “Heaven had a phone (release em).”
