ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isnβt extensive, but rather short and sweet.Β This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations from the Billboard 200 π, Β and EIGHT observations from the Billboard Hot 100 π, with π Polo G and π Migos debuting at nos. 1 and 2 respectively on the Billboard 200./otw_shortcode_dropcap]Billboard 200 πΒ
π We always knew it was going to be competitive β or at least, I thought so. Ultimately, π Polo G earned his first no. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with πΏ Hall of Fame.Β The album moved a respectable 143,000 units.
π π Migos settle for the runner up slot on the Billboard 200.Β πΏ Culture III still moved a respectable number of units as well with 130,500 per Keith Caulfield of Billboard.
π Two more albums debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.Β K-popβs π TWICE starts at no. 6 with πΏ Taste of Love: The 10th Mini Album.Β Also, π Maroon 5 launch at no. 8 with πΏ JORDI. Of course, the charts have been kinder to π Adam Levine and company in the past.Β 37,000 units isnβt the sexiest number everβ¦
π Missing the top 10, π Mammoth WVH, which features π Wolfgang Van Halen (son of the late, great π Eddie Van Halen), debuts at no. 12 with β wait for it β πΏ Mammoth WVH.
π Several more albums debut in the top-50.Β π Garbage bows at no. 33 with πΏ No Gods No Masters.Β π Piβerre Bourne debuts t no. 35 with πΏ The Life of Piβere 5.Β πΏ In The Heights soundtrack lifts off at no. 45.
Billboard Hot 100 πΒ
π π BTS spends a fourth consecutive week on top of the Billboard Hot 100 with π΅ βButterβ while former chart topper π Olivia Rodrigo remains in the runner-up slot with π΅ βgood 4 uβ.
π π Migos earn the highest debut on the Hot 100 with π΅ βHaving Our Wayβ featuring π Drake.Β βHaving Our Wayβ appears as the second track from πΏ Culture III. Β As to be expected, Migos earn multiple debuts on the Hot 100.
π π Megan Thee Stallion secures another respectable debut as π΅ βThot Shitβ β I βshitβ you not, thatβs the name of the track β launches at no. 16.
π π Polo G already secured at huge hit with former no. 1 π΅ βRapstarβ which sits at no. 11 this week.Β The highest debuting track from πΏ Hall of Fame arrives at no. 26 courtesy of π΅ βNo Returnβ featuring π The Kid LAROI and π Lil Durk.
π π Doja Cat debuts at no. 38 with her latest bop, π΅ βNeed to Knowβ.
π Following a four-year-hiatus, π Lorde returns to the Hot 100 with π΅ βSolar Powerβ which launches at no. 64.
π π Willow β as in Willow Smith β debuts at no. 87 with her single π΅ βtransparentsoulβ alongside Travis Barker.
π Despite being released for a while now, π Regard, π Troye Sivan, and π Tate McRae see their collaborative single π΅ βYouβ debut at no. 100.
