love, brandon, partyfavor → Song Review

Former PRETTYMUCH member Brandon Arreaga returns as love, brandon on his delightful debut pop solo single, “partyfavor.”

“Party favor, wrap me up nice / Just to feel more alive.” We love you, Brandon! Or rather, love, brandon is his name. Perhaps Brandon Arreaga is more familiar. Brandon was a member of the now-defunct Simon Cowell-assembled boy band, PRETTYMUCH. PRETTYMUCH may be done, but love, brandon has ‘only just begun.’ “Partyfavor” marks a gorgeous debut solo single. Arreaga composed “partyfavor.” He produced it with Malay.

“Partyfavor” is striking the first time you hear it.  Love, brandon’s artistry is clear early on. He sounds incredibly mature. His voice sounds silky-smooth; simply beautiful.  Brandon sounds authentic as he sings.  Every line, note, and nuance matters. Melodically, it’s quite tuneful.  The lyrics are heartfelt, sincere, and thoughtful. “I hope you find what you’re looking for somewhere inside of you,” he sings with care, in the second verse. “I feel at home when I’m with you / It’s when I’m alone is the issue,” he admits in the third and final verse, and concludes, “But it’s not my place to keep holding you back / So, I’m letting go.” The chorus is the crème de la crème, arriving after the first two verses and once more at the end:

“Call me later

I’m just your silhouette waiting to shine

Party favor, wrap me up nice

Just to feel more alive.”

Ultimately, “partyfavor” is a decadent pop ballad by a talented singer, songwriter, and producer.  Hearing the potential of love, brandon, I hope he strikes gold.  Great vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and gorgeous production (led by piano) make this a surefire winner.  The music video is a vibe, too!
