Jackson Chant, U Can Touch | Song Review

Jackson Chant taps David Archuleta for the hella cute, ear-catching dance-pop bop, “U Can Touch.”

 

 

What happens when two attractive, talented fellas like Jackson Chant and David Archuleta collaborate? Magic… and also, “U Can Touch.” Both these LGBTQ+ musicians ‘bring it’ on a summery pop bop that is perfect for any time of the year. Chant, Archuleta, Tyler Redman, and Jillian Harper Allen wrote “U Can Touch.” LEVÉ produced it.

“U Can Touch” is set in a major key and features bright-sounding production.  The sound is firmly planted in dance/electro-pop. A light, thudding kick drum anchors initially.  As the song progresses, the beat digs in more and packs more punch. Jackson Chant draws first blood with his light, sensual vocals during the first verse.  Chant barely breaks a sweat; he’s cool as a cucumber.  “We should put on a show, don’t you know that we’re magic?” he sings, and adds, “Pull me in, get me close, I get so automatic.” Following his verse, the chorus is the crème de la crème – quite memorable:

“… Gonna suck out all my blood in the back of the car

You got me acting like a, like a slut

I’m a sucker for a love that you can’t touch…”

David Archuleta contrasts Chant with fuller vocals during the second verse. “If you touch me in a sweet way,” he sings, and continues, “I’ll do anything that you say.” Ooh-la-la!  Archuleta enhances “U Can Touch,” including adding to the cuteness of the collaboration.  Both handsome men showcase their talent on this fun song.  A bonus: the music video is a blast! “U Can Touch” is a surefire vibe: great singing, memorable lyrics, and sleek, colorful production.  A bop, a bop, a BOP!
