Dillon Francis, Look at that Butt [Photo Credit: IDGAFOS]DJ/EDM producer Dillon Francis enlists eclectic dance artist Jarina De Marco for one of the most ‘refined’ singles of the year, “Look at that Butt.”

“Con mi bombón tú sí eres lambón.” Say what?  Assets have no shortage of popularity in popular music – understatement to the nth degree.  In 2015, country artist Thomas Rhett urged people, “All around the world, shake your south side.” 11 years prior, iconic rapper Eminem informed the world, “I ain’t never seen an ass like that.” Johnnie Taylor gave us an Eargasm for sure in 1976 when he sung, “Shake it up, shake it down / Move it in, move it round, disco lady.” All those examples to introduce the collaboration between DJ/EDM producer Dillon Francis and dance artist Jarina De Marco on “Look at that Butt.”

“Look at that Butt” is expectedly a banger – in the EDM sense.  Musically, Dillon Francis assembles a production that is a mix of dance, Latin-pop, and world music.  The sound is incredibly sleek, characterized by its aggressive, harder synths, intense rhythm, and the international flavor. Lyrically, De Marco sings exclusively in Spanish, save for a couple of instances where the titular lyric appears.  Fluent in Spanish or totally inept, it doesn’t matter in the case of “Look at that Butt.” This song clearly embodies the same principle as the aforementioned examples in the introductory paragraph.  Sir Mix-A-Lot put it best: “I like big butts and I cannot lie.”

Final Thoughts

Will “Look at that Butt” change your life? Absolutely not, but it’s fun and definitely sexy.  Both Francis and De Marco excel in their respective lanes making this record worthwhile.  At just two-and-a-half minutes, it’s just the right length without going overboard.
