In the 59th edition of Bangerz N Bopz (2026), we highlight “Inferno,” performed by Finnish singer-songwriter Samuel Shipway.
Bring on the bold, fierce songs! Bangerz N Bopz serves up background info and insights into songs across various styles, especially those that raise eyebrows and/or stir the pot. Featured records can be classic or brand new. In the 59th edition of Bangerz N Bopz (2026), we break down “Inferno” performed by Samuel Shipway.
“Inferno” begins with Shipway singing the titular lyric. He brings plenty of swagger to his performance. After the initial “Inferno,” Shipway sings in his native Finnish, excerpted earlier. Sleek, colorful production work supports him. The keys, synths, and grooves are electrifying! Samuel doesn’t just sing, either. He delivers an intriguing, rapped verse that contrasts those high-flying, pitched moments.
“Odotin että aika parataan, musta tuntuu että se otti musta palan vaan
[I waited for time to heal things, but it feels like it just took a piece of me]
Lähdin nytti kunnes etänytin tavallaan, silti ootan että pääsen sua halamaan
[I walked away until I drifted apart, yet I’m still waiting to hold you again]
Odotin että sä nousit jälleen tuhkaasta, odotin että huutamalla tää on puhdasta
[I waited for you to rise from the ashes, waited for the screaming to clear the air]
Joka ylämäki käytyy aina mutkaaks ja mä mietin et, mietin et
[Every uphill climb always turns into a winding road, and I wonder… I wonder…].”
Speaking of pitch, more like pitches, the chorus represents the most tuneful, memorable moment of the song.
“Inferno
Sä viet mut helvettiin ja sieltä kaisin, sieltä kaisin
[You take me to hell and back again, back again]
Inferno
Tumen läpi vaa putsu luoppalaisiin, luoppalaisiin
[Straight through the darkness to the other side, the other side]
Kun vuoden juoksui ja kas kulkee tunnu ei ku lieskaan tule
[As the year rolls on, it doesn’t feel like a mere flame]
Se vaan lämmittää’
[It just warms us up]
Mä tunnen, kuinka liekit meitä niille, te tiedät
[I can feel the flames around us—you know].”
Not only is it hellish, but those matters of the heart are intertwined! A bridge section distinguishes itself from the verses and chorus, also bringing ‘the heat,’ if you will (“Miten voisin sulle ikinä riittää [How could I ever be enough for you?] Nyt liikit meitä niille, ne niille, ne niille [Now you’re comparing us to them, them, them]”). “Inferno” is hot! The good news is that this track won’t damn you to Hell itself. Instead, it is a welcome bop that is damn sure to amplify the listening rotation!
