Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter DESTIN CONRAD taps into his Jamaican roots on his entertaining and infectious reggae single, “NERVOUS.”
There is no reason to be nervous while listening to “NERVOUS.” As always, DESTIN CONRAD brings it. It starts with an infectious groove and loop that sets the tone. The reggae vibes rear their head early on, making it impossible not to move your body while listening. With the musical accompaniment kicking ass and taking names, DESTIN does the same. He brings ample swagger, with a heaping dose of Jamaican Patois. Exhibit A: “Boy ah vex cause him girl want itch up / I spend cash every time I get up.” Ad from the second verse, exhibit B: “My girl walk in and she cute, she do batty and breast / She say it with her chest, she nuh shield / Every man a watch and every gyal wan’ vex / But she nuh business, she know seh she.” While delivering the delicious Patois, CONRAD also brings those sweet vocals to the mix. Adding to the allure, “NERVOUS” benefits from tuneful melodies, even when some of the lyrics are less decipherable. Besides the verses, there is a refrain and a bridge. That said, the section that takes the cake is the chorus:
“I got things that fulfill my needs
I got one who gon’ roll my trees
I got one I might go and see next week
Got one when I go, I won’t leave
They can’t be too close in my reach
Got a blasian one we speak Chinese…
Him seh.”
All told, DESTIN CONRAD does the damn thing, once again, on “NERVOUS”. He never fails to impress.
