Each album also receives a star rating, on a scale of 0 – 5 (½ stars are used as well), that is visible at the beginning and ending of the review. = MASTERPIECE = NEAR MASTERPIECE = EXCELLENT = VERY GOOD = AVERAGE / GOOD = BELOW AVERAGE = MEDIOCRE , , , = BAD

The columns on The Musical Hype encompass a variety of articles.  Some of these articles have a shelf life, while others are more evergreen (content maintains its relevance sans a set expiration date).  Even though some columns are evergreen, they don’t necessarily fit the more expansive Evergreen category, which features bigger posts such as playlists.  Columns include the “less finessed” blog Beyond the Hype, The Chart Scoop, Critics Weigh In, Guests Posts, Op Ed (opinion editorials), and Press Releases & Shopping.

    Scanning the Charts

    Scanning the Charts, a subcategory of the Columns on The Musical Hype, is the place where albums sales, albums sales trends, and various Billboard chart trends are analyzed in a variety of lists and articles.  This column has included numerous Billboard-fueled articles throughout the life span of the site.  Former articles include BB Grooves, centered around the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Hot 100 Jewels, centered around the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, and simply, Billboard 200.  Throughout much of 2017, The Chart Scoop article covered sales and happenings on both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100.  Moving forward, the column will be more specific to a variety of chart trends.
