Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion Top Hot 100: Scanning the Charts [Photo Credits: Atlantic, Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Pexels, Pixabay]Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Billboard Hot 100 (8/22/20) – Taylor Swift & Harry Styles top the Billboard 200 & Hot 100 respectively.Β

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β  To reiterate what I said last week (Taylor Swift & Harry Styles Reign Supreme), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that πŸ’© moving.Β  This week, I picked out six notable observations from the Billboard 200, and four observations from the Billboard Hot 100, highlighting Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, who debut at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their raunchy single, β€œWAP” . Check out my takeaways!

Billboard 200

Taylor Swift, folklore [Photo Credit: Taylor Swift]πŸ’ Taylor Swift spends her third week at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her eighth studio album, Β folklore.

πŸ’ Juice WRLD moves up from no. 3 to no. 2 as Legends Never Die sees an increase in support this week. The addition of another single, β€œSmile” (featuring The Weeknd), certainly had a hand in the boost experienced by the set. β€œSmile” debuts at no. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.Β Β

πŸ’ Luke Bryan earns the highest debut on the Billboard 200 with Born Here Live Here Die Here.Β  His numbers aren’t the best of his career. Furthermore, Luke starts modestly (for him) at no. 5.

πŸ’ Glass Animals launches at no. 7 with Dreamland. Where Luke Bryan had a disappointing debut, this start for the alternative collective is pretty sweet.

πŸ’ NLE Choppa sees his proper debut studio album, Top Shotta, debut at no. 10.

πŸ’Β  While the top 10 dominates the chart activity on the Billboard 200, there are some other notable happenings. Amine earns a top-20 debut with Limbo, which lands at no. 16. Victoria Monet launches much quieter at no. 174 with Jaguar.

Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion, "WAP" [Photo Credit: Atlantic]πŸ’ Cardi B, assisted by Megan Thee Stallion, both add another no. 1 hit under their belts with β€œWAP” which definitely dominated the week.

πŸ’ One week after Harry Styles earned his first no. 1 single with β€œWatermelon Sugar” he slips from no. 1 to no. 5. Β At least he was on top for a week, right? Right!

πŸ’ β€œCardigan” gave Taylor Swift another no. 1 single just three weeks ago.Β  That said, the popularity has waned week after week.Β  This week, β€œcardigan” slips from no. 8 to no. 24. Β Likewise, β€œExile,” one of the very best songs from folklore, slides from no. 36 to no. 61 in its third week.Β

πŸ’ Well, the hype surrounding β€œMove Ya Hips” sure didn’t last long. A$AP Ferg launched at no. 19 last week – assisted by Nicki Minaj and MadeinTYO – only to free fall to no. 99 in week two.
