Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Billboard Hot 100 (12/12/20): Bad Bunny earns his first no. 1 album on the Billboard 200.Β
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β To reiterate what I said last week (BTS Tops Album & Song Charts), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that π© moving.Β This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations π from the Billboard 200 π, Β and FOUR observations π from the Billboard Hot 100 π, with π Bad Bunny earning his first no. 1 album with πΏ El Ultimo Tour del Mundo.Β
Billboard 200 πΒ
π π Bad Bunny has finally done it! Heβs earned his first no. 1 album with πΏ El Ultimo Tour del Mundo, moving 116,000 units according to Keith Caulfield of Billboard.Β El Ultimo Tour del Mundo becomes the βfirst all-Spanish no. 1 album.β
π π Miley Cyrus earns the runner up spot on the Billboard 200 with πΏ Plastic Hearts.Β Plastic Hearts performs better than Cyrusβ previous album, πΏ Younger Now, which settled for a no. 5 start with fewer units.
π π BTS sees πΏ BE slip from no. 1 to no. 3 in its second week on Billboard 200. Hey, one week at no. 1 is better than none at all, right? Right!
π Following π Miley Cyrusβ πΏ Plastic Hearts, the next highest debut on the chart hails from π Rylo Rodriguez.Β Rodriguezβs πΏ G.I.H.F. (Goat in Human Form) launches at no. 37. Β Itβs the final debut in the top quarter of the Billboard 200.
π π Juicy J didnβt have the best week as far as chart success is concerned.Β πΏ The Hustle Continues but does so only to the tune of a tepid no. 68 start.
Billboard Hot 100 πΒ
π π 24kGoldn and π Iann Dior reclaim the no. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with π΅ βMood.β
π π Mariah Carey ascends from no. 14 to no. 2 with her former no. 1 Christmas gem, π΅ βAll I Want for Christmas is You.β Also, worth noting, π Bobby Helms reenters the top 10 with his beloved holiday classic, π΅ βJingle Bell Rockβ (ascends from no. 31 to no. 9).
π π Bad Bunny and π Jhay Cortez ascend from no. 15 to no. 5 with their hit, π΅ βDakiti,β which appears on Bunnyβs aforementioned no. 1 album, πΏ El Ultimo Tour del Mundo.
π My favorite new country song (and sure to be your new favorite too), π΅ βDicked Down in Dallasβ by π Trey Lewis, debuts at no. 65 on the Hot 100. Β Thatβs βbig.β
