In the 87th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Digital Girl,” performed by Atlanta-based soft, sapphic soul musician D’Leesa.
Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops served up. All music genres are welcome. Songs, old and new, are welcome as well. So, without further ado, in the 87th edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Digital Girl” performed by D’Leesa (Cassidy D’Leesa Dzoole)!
D’Leesa has plenty of enticing things to sing in “Digital Girl.” She’s cool, calm, and collected. The backdrop ‘keeps the same energy.’ Both pack a punch. “Butterflies flutter as you make your way / Over to invade my space,” she sings poetically in the first verse. She barely breaks a sweat. She adds, “Oh, earnest eyes annihilate our masquerade / Screaming all we cannot say.” Those lyrics are piping hot despite being performed so coolly! In the chorus, D’Leesa wants to experience love in person – “She’s not a digital girl.” She does have a point when she sings, “I don’t want no text bubbles / No square pixels / They just can’t replace / The chemistry / When you’re here with me.” In the second verse, she states, “But nothing beats the real thing / ‘Cause what we have is somatic / And you know I’m an addict.” D’Leesa needs her girl, fully present, on PERIODT! Love continues to drive D’Leesa on the bridge where digital just won’t cut it – “Nothing compares to the rush / I get when I’m WITH you.” Once more, D’Leesa ate and left no crumbs on “Digital Girl.” It’s incredibly cool, but also incredibly potent.
