Ariana Grande Holds Down No. 1: Scanning the Charts No. 22 [πŸ“· : Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Republic, Pixabay]Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Billboard Hot 100 (11/21/20): Ariana Grande holds serve at no. 1 with Positions.Β

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β  To reiterate what I said last week (Ariana Grande Lands Fifth No. 1 Album), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that πŸ’© moving.Β

This week, I picked out SIX notable observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard 200, and FOUR observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard Hot 100, with πŸŽ™ Ariana Grande holding down the no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, πŸ’Ώ Positions.

Billboard 200

Ariana Grande, Positions [πŸ“·: Republic]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Ariana Grande remains ↔ no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with πŸ’Ώ Positions, moving an additional 83,000 units per Billboard.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ The Kid LAROI gets a big boost following the release of the deluxe edition of his debut mixtape, πŸ’Ώ F*CK LOVE (SAVAGE).Β  It reaches a new peak on the Billboard 200 (⬆ from no. 81 to no. 3).

Β

πŸ’ Rapper πŸŽ™ King Von, who was shot and killed on Friday, November 6 sees πŸ’Ώ Welcome to O’Block ascend ⬆ from no. 13 (where it debuted) to no. 5.Β  Also, worth noting, his projects, πŸ’Ώ Levon James and πŸ’Ώ Grandson, Vol. 1 reenter the chart at nos. 40 and 53 respectively.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ NAV earns the highest debut in the top 10.Β  πŸ’Ώ Emergency Tsunami launches at no. 6.

πŸ’ So, how did some of the second charting weeks go for acts that debuted on the Billboard 200 dated 11/14/20 besides Ariana Grande and King Von? πŸŽ™ Trippie Redd sees πŸ’Ώ Pegasus ⬇ from no. 2 to no. 14. πŸŽ™ Sam Smith sees a similar 12-spot ⬇ for πŸ’Ώ Love Goes (no. 5 to no. 17). πŸŽ™ Queen Naija’s πŸ’Ώ Missunderstood nosedives from no. 9 to no. 40 (⬇ 31 spots). πŸŽ™ Busta Rhymes sees his comeback album, πŸ’Ώ ELE 2: The Wrath of God, fall from no. 7 to no. 55 (⬇ 48 spots).

Β

πŸ’ There were some newbies who didn’t get the same β€˜fame’ as NAV, who earned the only top-10 debut this week.Β  Second in line was K-pop collective πŸŽ™ TOMORROW X TOGETHER with πŸ’Ώ Minisode1: Blue Hour (EP), which launched at no. 25. πŸŽ™ Kylie Minogue brought πŸ’Ώ Disco to the charts at no. 25. πŸŽ™ Kodak Black makes a lackluster return with πŸ’Ώ Bill Israel at no. 52.Β  The same can be said of πŸŽ™ Lil Mix and a tepid start at no. 85 with πŸ’Ώ Confetti or πŸŽ™ NLE Choppa’s πŸ’Ώ From Dark to Light quiet start at no. 115.Β  Not much to celebrate there!

Billboard Hot 100Β

24kgoldn, "Mood" [πŸ“· : Records Label / Columbia]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ After returning to no. 1 last week, πŸŽ™ 24kGoldn and πŸŽ™ Iann Dior hold serve ↔ with 🎡 β€œMood.”  Per Billboard, β€œMood” became the most-streamed song for the first time.

πŸ’ After slipping to no. 2 on the Hot 100 last week, πŸŽ™ Ariana Grande, like 24kGoldn and Iann Dior, is also a non-mover ↔ with 🎡 β€œPositions”.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Gabby Barrett has been steadily climbing up the Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œI Hope,” featuring Charlie Puth.Β  It ascends ⬆ two spots from no. 5 to no. 3, a whopping 46 weeks in.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Maluma has a hit on his hands! Thanks to a remix with πŸŽ™ The Weeknd, 🎡 β€œHawΓ‘i” ascends ⬆ from no. 60 to no. 12.
