Make it 8 Straight for Morgan: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 10 [πŸ“·: Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Pexels, Pixabay, Republic]Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (3/13/21): Morgan Wallen spends his 8th consecutive week atop the Billboard 200.

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.  To reiterate what I said last week (πŸ“‰ Wallen & Rodrigo are Unstoppable: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 9), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that πŸ’© moving.  This week, I picked out SIX  notable observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰,  and FOUR observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Morgan Wallen spending his 8th consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with πŸ’Ώ Dangerous: The Double Album.

Morgan Wallen, Dangerous: The Double Album [πŸ“· : Big Loud / Republic]πŸ’ Yeah, at this point, the first thought bubble on Scanning the Charts is pretty much β€˜rinse and repeat.’ πŸŽ™ Morgan Wallen spends an eighth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with πŸ’Ώ Dangerous: The Double Album.  This is definitely a dominant chart performance (controversy aside), and honestly, Mr. Wallen has had little β€˜chart pressure’ on him to relinquish that 🎡 β€œNumber One Spot” #Ludacris.

πŸ’ As Keith Caulfield pointed out on his weekly write-up, there are no new albums in the top 10.  It’s not surprising, hence, Wallen, who has the hottest album out, has continued to capitalize given no resistance.  The sole new album in top 40 arrives courtesy of πŸŽ™ Julien Baker (πŸ’Ώ Little Oblivions, no. 39).

πŸ’ Shock rock icon πŸŽ™ Alice Cooper sneaks into the top 50 with πŸ’Ώ Detroit Stories, which launches at no 47.

πŸ’ Country music icon πŸŽ™ Willie Nelson debuts at no. 58 with πŸ’Ώ That’s Life.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Madison Beer only dents the Billboard 200.  Her proper debut album, πŸ’Ώ Life Support, debuts modestly at no. 65.

πŸ’ Hard rocking, British metalcore collective πŸŽ™ Architects don’t exactly set the charts on fire themselves. πŸ’Ώ For Those That Wish to Exist, the follow-up to πŸ’Ώ Holy Hell (2018), debuts at no. 80.

Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰

Olivia Rodrigo, "Drivers License" [πŸ“· : Olivia Rodrigo / Geffen]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo spends an eighth consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œDrivers License”.  Honestly, this is the biggest headline of the Hot 100.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Pop Smoke debuts posthumously at no. 64 with 🎡 β€œAP.”

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Post Malone charts another Hot 100 single with 🎡 β€œOnly Wanna Be With You” at no. 74.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Elle King and πŸŽ™ Miranda Lambert debut at no. 90 with the fantastic β€œDrunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)”.
