🎧 21 Songs About the Universal, 3-Letter Word, SEX features Alex Angelo, George Michael, Megan Thee Stallion, Madonna & Mike Taveira.
S
ome things are universal, period. Things that are universal transcend race, ethnicity, or language. Honestly, there are few things in the world with this power. That said, one thing that is universal and doesn’t require any translation: SEX. This compendium – the fifth of 2022 – is all about that universal three letter word. Ladies and gentlemen, we unleash 🎧 21 Songs About the Universal, 3-Letter Word, SEX!Sex is everywhere – UNDERSTATEMENT. It dominates popular music, whether mentioned explicitly or dealt with more subtlety. All 21 songs on this list minimally reference the universal word with most going into more depth. Originally, featuring SEX in the title of every song was the plan but then, I opted against it. Why? There are so many great songs that DON’T feature the word in their song title but masterfully execute it nonetheless – DUH! Gracing this risqué, steamy, and titillating list are gems by 🎙 Alex Angelo, 🎙 George Michael, 🎙 Megan Thee Stallion, 🎙 Madonna, and 🎙 Mike Taveira among many others. So, without further ado, prepared to get hot and bothered by 🎧 21 Songs About the Universal, 3-Letter Word, SEX!!!
1. George Michael, “I Want Your Sex”
💿 Faith • 🏷 Sony • 🗓 1987
Long before 🎙 George Michael informed us “It’s a tits and ass world you gotta be prepared” (🎵 “Freeek! 04”), he desired HER sex. 🎵 “I Want Your Sex” appears on his iconic, 🏆 Grammy-winning, 1987 album, 💿 Faith. Although he’d eventually be outed as a gay man, at the time “I Want Your Sex” arrived, he wasn’t out. The 80s was a sexual time in music. “I Want Your Sex” fits in with the sexual liberation of the times. That said, it was still the days of Reagan here stateside, there was also the infamous AIDS epidemic, so a song that seemed to encourage sex was naturally controversial
“I want your sex
I want your love
I want your sex
I want your… sex.”
George Michael wasn’t being ‘criminal’ by promoting sex, in essence – it’s prevalent these days! “Sex is natural, sex is good / Not everybody does it / But everybody should.” Right on! Many of us enjoy pleasure, right? George was horny (“I’ve waited so long baby / Out in the cold / I can’t take much more girl / I’m losing control”), hence, he needed some relief, shoo! That said, the times were much more socially conservative compared to now, and fear ran rampant. Keeping things sexy, “I Want Your Sex” gets a sexy music video 🎶📼, but also shocks by promoting monogamy at the end – PLOT TWIST! To this day, “I Want Your Sex” is one song that defines his illustrative career.

2. Azealia Banks, “Fuck Him All Night”
🎵 “Fuck Him All Night” • 🏷 Chaos & Glory Recordings • 🗓 2021
“I was fucking him all night / I fuck him all ways / And fucking him on sight, bitch.” Woo – speechless! 🎙 Azealia Banks has never been shy – UNDERSTATEMENT! Banks is known for being outspoken and her penchant for beefs with, well, everybody, honestly. I’d argue her outspokenness has been more notable than her music career. Regardless, she does have some great records, including the blunt, unapologetic 🎵 “Fuck Him All Night”.
Sex is the modus operandi, period! The one-liners are endless, beginning with, “Yeah, I’ve been fucking him all night / I’ve been taking raw dick since 11.” Aww sugar honey iced tea! It doesn’t stop there, folks, because this guy has “Got me lock jawed, dick deep in my mouth.” Not “me” of course, but Azealia. Furthermore, over the sketchy, slinky beat, she asserts, “‘Cause we can slut, we can fuck, we can dig in the guts / And we can suck to the nut if you ready to bust.” My, my, my! Also, she throws in some cunnilingus for good measure including a reference to C U Next Tuesday, if you catch my drift: “He got a crush on me now, I got him spending his bucks / He wanna touch on my body while his tongue in my c***.”
While it’s mostly X-rated sex, Banks does take the time to make it crystal clear she’s a ‘bad chick’:
“All these bitches is zeroes, nill, nada, DeNiro
I’m high like Sharon Stone in Casino
I’m the don diva, all these bitches is small fries
When I come through, yes, all these bitches they gon’ hide.”
Banks has always had a huge personality – bigger than life! That doesn’t fade in the least on 🎵 “Fuck Him All Night,” which is, fittingly, unapologetic as For Under Consent [of the] King! There’s sex, braggadocio, and fine production work by 🎛 Galcher Lustwerk.

3. Drake, “Way 2 Sexy”
Ft. Future & Young Thug
💿 Certified Lover Boy • 🏷 OVO / Republic • 📅 2021
“I’m too sexy for this syrup / Too sexy for you girl / Too sexy for this world…” Woo! 🎵 “Way 2 Sexy” ends up being one of the bangers that stands out on 💿 Certified Lover Boy, the sixth studio album by 🏆 Grammy-winning, Canadian rapper/singer, 🎙 Drake. The fact that “Way 2 Sexy” ends up being a banger is a bit surprising considering it samples the corny 🎙 Right Said Fred classic, 🎵 “I’m Too Sexy”. Yes, you can hear the infectious “I’m too sexy for my shirt” on the intro before 🎙 Future delivers the excerpted, confident chorus.
In addition to being joined by Future, 🎙 Young Thug comes along for the ride too. Future, again, plays a sizable role on the repetitive, ‘far too sexy’ chorus, as well as dropping the second verse. As you’d expect, it’s not only ‘sexy’ but drippy and druggy. As for Young Thug, in the third verse, he’s true to self in all his idiosyncrasy: “I been kickin’ shit (Woah, woah), might need a prosthetic (Yeah).” Drake, of course, drops the first verse, which includes the ‘thoughtful’ line, “And I’m way too sexy to go unprotected.” Following chart domination, “Way 2 Sexy” earned Drake another no. 1 hit. It’s amazing what sexiness will do for you.

4. Madonna, “Justify My Love”
💿 The Immaculate Collection • 🏷 Warner • 🗓 1990
“Wanting, needing, waiting / For you to justify my love.” Reading the lyrics on the page, it doesn’t sound nearly as sexy and lustful as when 🎙 Madonna performs them. The words hail from the chorus of one of the sexiest (and most controversial) songs of her illustrious career, 🎵 “Justify My Love”. “Justify” appears on her 1990 compilation, 💿 The Immaculate Collection. Another no. 1 hit single for Madge, it stands out the first time you hear it. Notably, it was written by her, 🎼✍ Ingrid Chavez, and 🎼✍ Lenny Kravitz.
Madonna mostly provides spoken word, in an erotic, horny way. None of the lyrics are extraordinarily risqué – it was 1990 – but the personality she infuses elevates the temperature. “I want to run naked in a rainstorm,” she asserts in the first verse, adding, “Make love in a train cross-country / You put this in me / So now what, so now what?” Hmm, “You put this in me” doesn’t seem like a coincidence! Madge also makes it clear on this Controversial Tune 😈🎶 fit for After Dark 🕛 🌃, that she “Don’t want to be your mother /…sister either / I just want to be your lover.” Woo! The third verse seems the most progressive, particularly the end:
“I’m not afraid of who you are
We can fly!
Poor is the man
Whose pleasures depend
On the permissions of another
Love me, that’s right, love me
I want to be your baby.”
Those lyrics seem to match the LGBTQ 🌈 component of the music video 🎶📼, which features same-sex couples enjoying love just like Madge does.

5. ur pretty, “Keep Riding Me”
🎵 “Keep Riding Me” • 🏷 ur pretty • 📅 2021
Four words: “Just keep riding me.” How about six words: “Just keep on fucking me deep.” Now that is sexual AF, NO CAP! 🎙 ur pretty (🎙 Jake Hill) intended the lyrics to involve those private parts. Furthermore, 🎵 “Keep Riding Me” doesn’t go straight – it’s G-A-Y. “I can’t think straight when I look into your eyes,” Hill sings on the first verse, later adding, “Yeah, your mustache tickles my nut sack, baby.” Wow – TMI! It doesn’t stop there, folks, on this sub-two-and-a-half-minute joint! “You got a way with your words and a big fat cock.”
“Flip me over, beat my meat up while you pound it.” Holy sugar honey iced tea! The lyrics are ‘something else’ to say the least – UNDERSTATEMENT. That said, in this case, they should be taken with a grain of salt. “Keep Riding Me” feels less an ode to male-on-male love than, say, pop-punk humor. Regardless, Hill serves up some compelling vocals. His best moment comes by way of the risqué chorus, which is sexed-up to the nth degree but also, entertaining:
“He spreads my cheeks, and he makes me scream
He’s my number one daddy, gotta make him cream inside of me
Just keep riding me
When I’m slurping him down, it’s my favorite sound
You let out a little moan, what a beautiful tone
So softly, just keep riding me.”

6. Rihanna, “Sex with Me”
💿 Anti • 🏷 Roc Nation • 📅 2016
“Sex with me, so amazing / All this all hard work, no vacation / Stay up off my Instagram, pure temptation / Sex with me, sex with me, sex with me.” Sigh, there are plenty of men who have fantasized about hooking up with 🎙 Rihanna – just keeping it 100. On 🎵 “Sex with Me” from her 2016 album, 💿 Anti, she’s explicit about the sexual experience.
A prime example is the first verse, in which she sings, “Five fingers on it / Hit it like you own it, I’ma hit it like I’m on it.” She later closes the verse asserting, “I’ma get it wet like jacuzzi, ah-yea.” Hmm, wonder where she’s going with that… Rihanna’s confidence only soars on the second verse:
“Sex with me is amazing, with her it’ll feel alright
The sex doesn’t get any better, make it long, let it be all night.”

7. Alex Angelo, “Four Letter Words”
🎵 “Four Letter Words” • 🏷 IGAG Productions LLC • 📅 2022
Cleveland-bred, Nashville-based pop singer, songwriter, and producer 🎙 Alex Angelo brings more maturity and edge to his entertaining, well-rounded single, 🎵 “Four Letter Words”. Not only does “Four Letter Words” encompass the universal three-letter word sex, it also adds a couple of f-bombs 💣 💥! If I had to characterize Angelo’s performance on “Four Letter Words” using four-letter words, it’s damn good. Also, I’d go a step further and say this gifted 21-year-old is serving up some excellent sugar honey iced tea – WOO!
What makes “Four Letter Words” fire 🔥 is the vocals, the production, and theme and lyrics. Vocally, Angelo sings well, serving up a cool but soulful brand of pop vocals. He dips into the contemporary R&B playbook – an awesome sound for him. Likewise, his production embraces this R&B vibe –lush, slick, sleek, and modern. There’s no question that Angelo has the 2020s sound on lock. The theme and lyrics solidify the excellence. There are blurred lines between two related four-letter words – love and fuck. Alex seems to struggle to differentiate between the two. What is clear, however, is that he’s into her something fierce. My favorite section is the chorus, where we get that f-bomb in all its naughty glory! “Four Letter Words” = #LIT 🔥!!!
8. Megan Thee Stallion, “Eat It”
💿 Something for Thee Hotties • 🏷 1501 Certified Ent. LLC / 300 Entertainment • 🗓 2021
“Bitch, it’s Young Tina Snow, the nastiest freak you know!” 🏆 Grammy-winning rapper 🎙 Megan Thee Stallion keeps it real on banger, 🎵 “Eat It” (💿 Something for Thee Hotties, 2021). Face it – Tina Snow doesn’t know anything other than being unapologetic. On “Eat It,” her flows are agile, edgy, and profane to the nth degree – sexed-TF-up!
From the jump, we get a heaping dose of private parts and WAYYY TOO MUCH INFORMATION! “Bust through the walls, break-in and enter / How many licks ‘til you get to the center?” she asks, continuing, “How many times have I heard that a nigga a dog but scared when he play with the kitten? / How many times have I heard that somebody last long? These niggas ain’t lastin’ a minute.” Wow! A lack of profundity when it comes to sex! Megan makes it clear, “I don’t want just one nut / Daddy, I’ma need the whole tree.” Day-ummm!
In the second verse, Megan doesn’t cease her unapologetic nature, but she does move beyond sex for sex’s sake. “And I feel like, aw, shit, y’all should eat my pussy how much y’all mention me.” See what I’m saying! That said, on the chorus, it’s all about cunnilingus!
“Yeah, yeah
Eat it, eat it, eat it ‘til I faint
… Eat it, eat it ‘til you break a sweat
Lick it all, give your all ‘til you outta breath
Eat it, eat it, eat it ‘til I cum
Gimme some, gimme some ‘til I’m goin’ dumb.”
JESUS – well – he has no part in this carnal act! “Legs on the headboard, pussy in his mouth.” 😬😮 Nasty, unapologetic, totally-not-family-friendly Megan Thee Stallion? We wouldn’t have it any other way – we’re “Eat It” up!

9. Mike Taveira, “Sex for Breakfast”
Ft. Allie X
🎵 “Sex for Breakfast” • 🏷 Mike Taveira • 📅 2021
🎙 Mike Taveira delivers a delicious, titillating pop single with 🎵 “Sex for Breakfast”. While he does awesome getting us ‘hot and bothered,’ so does his partner in crime, featured guest 🎙 Allie X (Alexandra Hughes). “Sex for Breakfast” is as good as advertised featuring slick production by 🎛 Sky Cocco and 🎛 Jordan Palmer ‘put in work.’ Cocco is also credited as a writer alongside Taveira, Hughes, and 🎼✍ Paul Mauer.
Vocally, Mike sings smoothly, showcasing a marvelous tone. Even so, that doesn’t keep him from delivering a bite, early on, mind you: “How the fuck can we be friends when all we wanna do is / Fuck it if it happens, we already do it.” Woo! Following those eyebrow raising bombs, Taveira backs off the profanity, but keeps it sexy (we wouldn’t have it any other way). I like the way Allie X both complements and contrasts on the second verse. She gets her ear-catching lyrics in too, even if she’s not as ‘salty’ as Mike: “It’s a physically sadistic state, I feel so manic / And this body talk, it got so rude.” Of course, the crème de la crème – the centerpiece – is the chorus:
“Sex for breakfast
Aah
If you want it, if you want it, if you want it like that
You can’t wait for a second
Aah
Got you coming, got you coming, got you coming right back.”
Coming, huh? Gotta love sexual innuendo! Mike Taveira delivers a surefire bop with “Sex for Breakfast.”

10. The Pointer Sisters, “I’m So Excited”
💿 So Excited! • 🏷 RCA • 🗓 1982
“I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it / I’m about to lose control, and I think I like it!” Woo!
Sometimes, as listeners, we turn a blind eye to things that are sketchy and at times, inappropriate. With legendary, 🏆 Grammy-winning, R&B sister group 🎙 The Pointer Sisters, there’s nothing horrible that we turned that blind eye to, but it should be noted that we seemed to ignore the sexual nature of their 1982 pop hit, 🎵 “I’m So Excited” (💿 So Excited!)
“Tonight’s the night we’re gonna make it happen
Tonight, we’ll put all other things aside
Give in this time and show some affection
We’re going for those pleasures in the night.”
NSA! Amazingly, The Pointer Sisters had us all fooled with “I’m So Excited!” I mean, the plan is clear – to fool around!!! I suppose because “I’m So Excited” is so catchy, fun, and infectious, we didn’t pay close attention to the theme. Clearly, the sisters are excited about having hot, passionate sex, so much so that they are unconcerned with the happenings of the next day. “We shouldn’t even think about tomorrow / Sweet memories will last a long, long time,” lead vocalist 🎙 Anita Pointer sings, later adding, “And if we’re still playing ‘round, boy, that’s just fine.” Wow!

11. Cigarettes After Sex, “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby”
💿 I. (EP) • 🏷 Cigarettes After Sex • 🗓 2012
“Whispered something in your ear / It was a perverted thing to say.” Perverted, huh? 🎙 Greg Gonzalez, the frontman of dream/ ambient pop 🎙 Cigarettes After Sex continues, “But I said it anyway / Made you smile and look away.” While saying something perverted could be a potential problem, in the case of 🎵 “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby”, the vibe is these are two people who like/love one another. On this highlight from 💿 I. (EP) released in 2012, Gonzalez makes it clear he won’t do anything to hurt her; he’ll protect her at all costs!
“Nothing’s gonna hurt you baby
As long as you’re with me you’ll be just fine
Nothing’s gonna hurt you baby
Nothing’s gonna take you from my side.”
Considering its status as ambient, dream pop, “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You” has a calming, chill, and smooth vibe. Greg Gonzalez sings with ease, never forcing things. This approach amplifies the sexiness as well as the pureness of this romance. In the second verse, things end freakily – “always ends in a hazy shower scene.” But there are also lighter moments, such as listening “To that silly 90’s R&B” and simply “laughing in the microphone and singing / With our sunglasses on to our favorite songs.” Ah, to be in love!
Cigarettes After Sex deliver the perfect romantic and sexy After Dark 🕛 🌃 joint with 🎵 “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby”. There’s a hint of risqué – that perverted whisper or that “hazy shower scene” – but Gonzalez and company don’t cross the lines like some of our other After Dark entries. Maybe characterizing it as classy is an overstatement, but there’s lots to like about this decade-old (!) gem.

12. Christina Aguilera, “Sex for Breakfast”
💿 Bionic • 🏷 RCA • 📅 2010
“Tossin’ and turnin’ makes my appetite keep growing stronger / All night long.” Yes, many of us wake up in the morning hungry. In this case, 🏆 Grammy-winning pop singer 🎙 Christina Aguilera wakes up horny – lustful. She’s anticipating a nutritious breakfast comprised of passionate sex. 🎵 “Sex for Breakfast” is an underrated gem in her catalog, appearing on her 2010 album, 💿 Bionic. Aguilera delivers some of her best vocals, giving a balanced performance. Compared to her usual performances, she’s cooler, embracing the jazzy, soulful sensibilities of this R&B ballad.
“Our bodies touchin’, I just can’t get enough,” she sings on the bridge, later adding, “Won’t let you sleep, I gotta satisfy my needs.” Woo! The centerpiece is none other than the chorus, which informs us that Aguilera plans to have another session with her lover, this time in the morning:
“And when the sun rises, there’s one thing on my mind
I want sex for breakfast, stay inside
And even though we made sweet love all night
I need sex for breakfast, it feels so right.”
That “stay inside” lyrics is hot… if your mind is as dirty as mind is! Further confirmation that the breakfast isn’t pancakes, eggs, sausage, etc.: “So hungry for you, taste me and I’ll taste you.” Ultimately, “Sex for Breakfast” is marvelous. Yes, Aguilera needs to ensure she’s eating food too, but can you knock her for wanting the fun to continue? As she stated, they’ve already got it in during the night, so, why not go for another round?

13. Anuel AA & KAROL G, “Secreto”
💿 Emmanuel • 🏷 Sony • 📅 2020
“Lo de nosotro’ e’ un secreto, que nadie se entere / Baby, yo siempre me vengo contigo cuando tú te viene.” No, not everyone reds or understands Spanish, but what is clear on 🎵 “Secreto” is that there is a secret, sexually charged relationship. Puerto Rican rapper/singer 🎙 Anuel AA and Colombian singer 🎙 KAROL G (former boyfriend and girlfriend) shine on “Secreto,” which appears on AA’s 2020 album, 💿 Emmanuel.
Exclusively in Spanish, the steamy factor is elevated something fierce! Anuel constantly thinks with his pants, at one point asserting, he can’t live without her sex. Wow, what horn devil! The thing is, the feeling is mutual, as KAROL G echoes the sentiment! Of course, these two were once an item, so, makes sense. And, in the context of the song, and this compendium, important to remember that this relationship is SECRET!

💿 Beyoncé • 🏷 Sony • 🗓 2013
“Let me sit this ass on you, show you how I feel.” 🎙 Beyoncé shocked the world with her ‘visual album,’ 💿 Beyoncé, released in 2013. Beyoncé was of the truly great contemporary R&B albums of the 2010s. The sensual 🎵 “Rocket”, is all about making passionate love and of course, ‘blasting off.’ “I wanna show you now, slow it down, go around,” she sings near the end of the first verse, continuing, “You rock hard, I rock steady.” Phew!
On the chorus, things only grow more titillating as Bey encourages him to “Hold me ‘til I scream for air to breathe / And wash me over until my well runs dry / Send all your sins all over me, babe, over me.” JESUS! It doesn’t stop there, folks! On the second verse, Mrs. Carter asserts, “I’m proud of all this bass, when you put it in your face.” That’s still just two of four verses, with the fourth being the most risqué:
“Punish me, please
Daddy, what you gon’ do with all this ass.”

15. The Offspring, “We Never Have Sex Anymore”
💿 Let the Bad Times Roll • 🏷 Wabi Sabi Worldwide LLC / Concord • 📅 2021
“We never have sex anymore / We never roll around on the floor like we did so long ago.” Hmm, intimacy issues, 🎙 The Offspring? 🎵 “We Never Have Sex Anymore”, appearing on their 2021 album, 💿 Let the Bad Times Roll, continues with more things that have changed within the relationship beyond the bedroom: “You never yell at me anymore / You never want to even the score like you did so long ago / But you’re still with me so I guess I’m not complaining / And you always leave my dinner on the stove.”
Basically, it sounds as if the singer (or his character) and his wife are in a rut. It’s not that they don’t love and care for each other, but even the good and bad times have sort of just become neutral. I mean, 🎙 Dexter Holland go so far as to sing, “Baby please! / If you won’t love me, will you hate me? / If you won’t violate me, well, will you just at least aggravate me?” He’s not seeking out abuse but rather desires more oomph, life, and within the relationship, like they once had. Of course, as couples get older, one of the first things that falls by the wayside is sex, hence why The Offspring key-in on this.
“We used to do it constantly
We used to have a ball
We use to do it everywhere
We never do it at all.”
Besides he fun, sexless lyrics, the sound of the record is rad, with colorful sounds courtesy of horns and piano in addition to standard rock instrumentation.

💿 Love to Love You Baby • 🏷 UMG Recordings, Inc. • 🗓 1975
“Ah, I love to love you baby.” One of the sexiest records of all time belongs to the late, great 🎙 Donna Summer. Keeping it real, 🎵 “Love to Love You Baby” (💿 Love to Love You Baby, 1975) is the musical equivalent of an orgasm. Affirming the musical orgasm are prevalent sensual moans by Summer, sure to turn anyone on. Couple those moans with that killer, rhythmic hi-hat and “Love to Love You Baby” is the perfect soundtrack to a lit sexual encounter.
While “Love to Love You Baby” avoids explicitness lyrically, it remains risqué to date. Again, it’s those moans where Summer perfectly stimulates superb ‘love making.’ Lyrically, there aren’t many words, but Summer makes them worthwhile, painting a lustful picture. “When you’re laying so close to me / There’s no place I’d rather you be / Than with me,” she sings calmly and coolly on the first verse. She turns up the heat on the second, asserting, “Do it to me again and again / You put me in such an awful spin.” Oh, the power of the D… Again, Donna sings nothing offensive, but with those signature moans, she’d make anybody blush!

💿 Only by the Night • 🏷 RCA • 📅 2008
“You! / Your sex is on fire / Consumed! / With what’s just transpired!” Hmm, doesn’t take deep thought to interpret what front man 🎙 Caleb Followill is singing about. While it took 🎙 Kings of Leon a while, they finally managed to get wider recognition beginning with their 2008 album, 💿 Only by the Night. While “Use Somebody” is the most decorated record from the LP, winning two 🏆 Grammys (including Record of the Year), 🎵 “Sex on Fire” won a Grammy a year earlier for Best Rock Performance.

💿 Friends & Lovers • 🏷 RCA • 📅 2014
“Now get a taste of my flavour, I’ll return the favour.” Holy moly! British R&B singer/songwriter 🎙 Marsha Ambrosius doesn’t hold back on 🎵 “69”, a titillating standout from her 2014 album, 💿 Friends & Lovers. Clearly, Marsha and her partner are going to please each other simultaneously… Prior to those highlights from the pre-chorus, Marsha sets the mood, and it’s a sexed-up, NSFW vibe, referencing undressing and Stiletto heels. On the second verse, she gets nasty: “Take your clothes off / Fuck me till you forget, then I blackout, blow my back out.” Da-yum!
On the chorus, she lays out the sex, with some help courtesy of a 🎙 Luke / 🎙 2 Live Crew sample (🎵 “Face Down, Ass Up”). “Sixty-nine / I stay on your mind, you stay on my mind,” she sings, adding, “You know you put it down / Face down, ass up, that’s the way we like to fuck.” For good measure, the bridge is steamy AF: “I might not come at all, but you do.” This lustful gem was produced by 🎛 DaInternz, perfectly capturing excellent S-E-X.

🎵 “Sexual Vibe” • 🏷 Arista • 📅 2018

There is another musical member of the Puth family, just in case you weren’t aware! In late 2018, 🎙 Stephen Puth dived into sexual matters on 🎵 “Sexual Vibe”.
Stephen clearly separates himself from his older bro, Charlie. His vocals are noticeably deeper, characterized by more bass – a more masculine quality. His approach is rather chill and effortless, never over-singing or over-indulging. Sure, “Sexual Vibe” is a vibe, but a bit more lyrical contrast could’ve really ‘sealed the deal’ – Haha!

💿 Nightclubbing • 🏷 UMG Recordings, Inc. • 🗓 1981
“Now in the parking lot garage, I found the proper place / Just follow all the written rules, you’ll fit into the space.” Hmm, 🎙 Grace Jones, doesn’t seem like you’re really talking about parking a car. Though Jones has suggested that 🎵 “Pull Up to the Bumper” wasn’t necessarily intended to reference anal sex, it’s hard not to read into that way.
“Pull up to my bumper baby
In your long black limousine
Pull up to my bumper baby
And drive it in between.”
Hmm, a “long, black limousine” huh? Sure sounds like a reference to size, as well as ethnicity. The post-chorus is also dirty, as Ms. Jones sings, “Pull up to it / Don’t drive through it / Back it up twice / Now that fits nice.” Mercy! In the second verse, Jones goes on to say, “I’ve got to blow your horn.” Not so subtle there. There’s also the bridge, where she encourages to “Grease it, spray it / Let me lubricate it.” My oh my! Grace Jones really wants us to believe “Pull Up to the Bumper” isn’t sexual AF? Please! This record screams sex and the fact that she mentions her ‘bumper,’ well, sure sounds like anal. The good news is, “Pull Up to the Bumper” is rad.

21. Marvin Gaye, “Sexual Healing”
💿 Midnight Love • 🏷 Sony Music Entertainment• 📅 1982
“Baby, I’m hot just like an oven / I need some lovin’.” What more can you say but da-yum, that’s hot! Okay, two words: 🎵 “Sexual Healing”! Enough said! The title expresses all the listener needs to know. Clearly, sex is therapeutic, particularly in the hands of iconic soul artist 🎙 Marvin Gaye. This comeback effort by Mr. Gaye is lit to the nth degree – groovy, marvelously performed, and of course S-E-X-Y!
“And when I get that feeling
I want sexual healing
Sexual healing is good for me
Makes me feel so fine, it’s such a rush
Helps to relieve the mind, and it’s good for us.”
Agreed! If “Sexual Healing” itself isn’t enough to stimulate you by itself, just listen to the entirety of 💿 Midnight Love. Gaye is totally fueled by the universal three-letter word.
