Innuendo? More like full-on sexual vibes! Welcome to After Dark 🕛 🌃, a column featuring songs that are best suited for nighttime, specifically, the bedroom.  Like Controversial Tunes 😈🎶, the records featured here raise eyebrows.  The difference between the songs of CONTROVERSY and DARK? These songs specifically focus on the universal topic of S-E-X. The dark records gracing After Dark are old and new alike, with all genres of music welcome.  On the 33rd edition of After Dark (2021), we explore the naughty, risqué & utterly sexual vibes behind, 🎵 “Rocket” by 🎙 Beyoncé.

Theme & Lyrics

“Let me sit this ass on you, show you how I feel.” Holy shit! That is a sexy way to commence any song, no cap! 🎙 Beyoncé shocked the world with her ‘visual album,’ 💿 Beyoncé, released as a total surprise in 2013.  One of the truly great contemporary R&B albums of the 2010s, the visual album didn’t receive enough Grammy love in my opinion.  Focusing on the sensual gem at hand, 🎵 “Rocket,” it exemplifies that After Dark 🕛 🌃 sh#t we’re going for.

Bitmoji ImageBeyoncé sings like an angel on “Rocket,” but as she also sings on the visual album, she’s 🎵 “No Angel” (see what I did there).  This is all about making passionate love and of course, ‘blasting off.’  “I wanna show you now, slow it down, go around,” she sings near the end of the first verse, continuing, “You rock hard, I rock steady.” Phew!  On the chorus, things only grow more titillating as Bey encourages him to “Hold me ‘til I scream for air to breathe / And wash me over until my well runs dry / Send all your sins all over me, babe, over me.”  JESUS!  Of course, it doesn’t stop, as on the second verse, Mrs. Carter asserts, “I’m proud of all this bass, when you put it in your face.”   That’s still just two of four verses, with the fourth being the most risqué  (“Punish me, please / Daddy, what you gon’ do with all this ass”).

Music Video 🎶📼

Bitmoji ImageSince Beyoncé was a visual album, there were music videos for each song.  Fittingly, “Rocket” got a titillating music video 🎶📼 that finds Yoncé doing all kinds of sexy things.  No, there’s no explicit sex scene but there’s plenty implied that you just must see for yourself.  Of course, Bey is gorgeous in the video and certainly makes many men (and women) feel some type of way.

Final Thoughts 💭

Bitmoji ImageBeyoncé saw Beyoncé become much more adult, led by songs like “Rocket.”  “Rocket” has old-school, slow-jam vibes, but felt very modern upon its arrival.  The swearing really takes it out of contention with older songs, where that certainly was a no-no.  “Rocket” is sexy to the nth degree with Queen Bey making us all reflect on our After Dark 🕛 🌃 fantasies.  This is that After Dark 🕛 🌃 shiz we heart!!!
