utting straight to the chase, this compendium is chocked-full of sugar honey iced tea. In other words, if I’m being frank, this playlist is full of $h!tNO CAP! Sure, the s-bomb isn’t the worst swear word but it’s enough to encourage censor$hit – I mean censorship – and get that Parental advisory explicit lyrics tag slapped on a single/album.  Yah, that $h!t just got real!

1. Megan Thee Stallion, “Thot Shit”

💿 Something for Thee Hotties • 🏷 1501 Certified Ent. / 300 Entertainment • 📅 2021

Megan Thee Stallion, Something for Thee Hotties [📷: 1501 Certified Ent. LLC / 300 Entertainment]“I don’t give a fuck ‘bout a blog tryna bash me / I’m the shit per the Recording Academy.” That’s true, 🎙 Megan Thee Stallion – well – the part about the Recording Art Academy.  Early in her career, Megan is already a 🏆 three-time Grammy winner – that’s amazing.  She electrifies on her banger, 🎵 “Thot Shit” (💿 Something for Thee Hotties), which marked the return of her alter ego, Tina Snow.

“Thot Shit” features production work by 🎛 OG Parker and 🎛 LilJuMadeDaBeat.  They stitch up the track for Megan, who drops a compelling flow, as always.  We get exactly what we’ve come to expect from her: explicitness, outlandishness, rawness, and surefire, unapologetic-ness, all from the jump. The chorus is repetitive, simple, yet highly effective: “Hands on my knees, shakin’ ass, on my thot shit.” Beyond those memorable lyrics, Megan delivers numerous ear catching lines. Two fine examples: “Missionary or doggystyle, I’ma top shit / Pussy-ass n*ggas hatin’ on me from the closet, ah” and “2021, finna graduate college / Goth girl shit, I’m a real hot topic.”  The former lyric is both sexual and seems to reference the closet, in reference to gay men.  Do with that whatever you will. “Thot Shit” is totally worth bumping – another enjoyable banger to add to the listening rotation.

2. Binky the Slinky, “IMMA SHIT MY PANTS”

🎵 “IMMA SHIT MY PANTS” • 🏷 FrickGang • 📅 2018

Binky the slinky, "IMMA SHIT MY PANTS" [📷: FrickGang]“Bro, I am gonna fucking shit my pants, let me go in the bathroom / I don’t care if it’s employees only! Let me the fuck in!” Well, 🎙 Binky the Slinky, that’s a little too much information! It’s amazing that a potential poop accident can be the fuel for the fire for a rap banger.  After Binky drops that grand intro, he unleashes the hook, which is about what you’d expect: “Imma shit my pants, bitch, I’m boutta shit my pants.” Woo!!!

Beyond the intro and hook, we get one verse and man, oh man, is it full of $HEE-IT! “I’mma shit my pants, diarrhea when I dance,” Binky spits, adding, “Shittin’ on the floor while I’m counting up my bands.” WTF! Basically, he runs with the sugar honey iced tea, relating everything to the “ooh poo-poo.” Nothing is appealing about a disgusting line like “Liquid when I’m sick, shittin’ really sick.” Helping solidify the banger status of this brief joint is kick a$$ production by 🎛 Toom.

3. Peter McPoland, “Shit Show”

🎵 “Shit Show” • 🏷 Columbia • 📅 2021

Peter McPoland, "Shit Show" [📷: Columbia]“If I could, I would drink my troubles down the drain / But I don’t wanna drink alone today.’ Amen, brother, Amen 👏 🙌! Want to hear some expressive, angst-filled vocals? Look no further than 🎙 Peter McPoland, who serves up a heaping dose of emotion on 🎵 “Shit Show.”  While the situation he describes is a $h!t show, there’s nothing the least bit ‘$h!tty’ about this sugar honey iced tea song!

Written by McPoland, and produced by McPoland alongside 🎛 Steve Rusch, “Shit Show” is rad. If potty-mouthed song titles aren’t your thing, don’t let the s-bomb dissuade from the excellence of the lyrics or theme.  Thematically and narratively, Peter is on the struggle bus known as life, basically.  Still a young man, these happenings in McPoland’s life are standard: falling in love, growing up, losing and finding yourself, etc. Basically, we’re all participants in this “Shit Show,” with our own respective narratives.

4. Doja Cat, “Ain’t Shit”

💿 Planet Her • 🏷 Kemosabe / RCA • 📅 2021

Doja Cat, Planet Her [📷: Kemosabe / RCA]“I’m a freak not a masochist / Shoulda known you had the baddest bitch.” Say that 🎙 Doja Cat – say that! “Left on read and can’t give head / really, you ain’t shit, need a laxative.” BURNNN – OH SNAPPP! So, who ain’t $h!t on 🎵 “Ain’t Shit” according to Doja?  I quote, “These dumb-ass n*ggas.” Woo!  As you might imagine, Dlamini drags the living [BLEEP] out of them, exuding ample toughness.  “Ain’t Shit” graces her fantastic 2021 album, from 💿 Planet Her, as the 11th track.

“N*ggas ain’t shit, come up in your crib / All up in your fridge, can’t pay rent.” Woo, gurl, those lame-o’s are worthless! “N*ggas is square like Madison!” Of course, Doja Cat doesn’t stop there – NO, NO! She goes on to say, “I can’t even really get made at them.” Well, why, Doja? “They fall, then I gotta facepalm.” 🤦 Mercy!

5. Bo Burnham, “Shit”

💿 Inside (The Songs) • 🏷 Bo Burnham • 📅 2021

Bo Burnham, Inside [📷: Bo Burnham]One thing is clear: 🎙 Bo Burnham is “Not feeling good.” Basically, he’s feeling like a four-letter-word: 🎵 “Shit.” This brief, comical, and brutally honest record appears on the talented comedian/singer’s 2021 album/soundtrack, 💿 Inside (The Songs). So, what’s got Bo “Feeling like a bag of shit?”

According to him, “All my clothes are dirty, so I’m smelling like a bag of shit.”  Furthermore, “Go to pour my coffee and I miss my cup.” Yeah, that sucks.  Then, he characterizes himself as a “useless fuck.” Wow! Of course, everything that Bo Burnham asserts is relatable, something he addresses on the pre-chorus.  The best moment, aside from his self-deprecation, is the chorus, where he’s “Feeling like a saggy, massive sack of shit (Oh, shit) / Big ol’ motherfuckin’ duffel bag of shit (Oh, shit).” Indeed!  Bo Burnham – a true gift!

6. Tate McRae, “Feel Like Shit”

🎵 “Feel Like Shit” 🏷 RCA • 📅 2021

Tate McRae, "Feel Like Shit" [📷: RCA]“Usually never cry at all /… But it’s been a couple weeks now and I still feel stuck in my lungs.” Uh-oh! Like comedian 🎙 Bo Burnham on 🎵 “Shit”, 🎙 Tate McRae feels like a four-letter word on her 2021 single, 🎵 “Feel Like Shit.”  The question is, why does she feel like sugar honey iced tea?  Well, the lyrics, “Usually go out on nights / And not think of you once / But if they start playin’ that song / I can’t help but to think about us…” As you’d expect, it’s because of a boy!

On this heartbroken ballad penned by McRae, 🎼✍ Jacob Kasher Hindlin, 🎼✍ Russell Chell, and 🎼✍ Victoria Zaro, the pop star is struggling to get over him. Right now, she just feels awful.  In the second verse, she attempts to atone for the breakup – losing him: “So, I kissed somebody else / Just to see how it felt.” Unfortunately, the kiss did nothing to rid of the great memories she had while she was with him. She simply can’t forget about him, something crystal clear on the chorus, where she hopes eventually to “get used to it.”  Giving her a lift on “Feel Like Shit” is the warm, modern production work by Russell Chell and 🎛 Jasper Harris.

7. Brian Robert Jones, “Shit on My Ass (Pop Version)”

🎵 “Shit on my Ass” • 🏷 LXIX • 📅 2021

Brian Robert Jones, "Shit on my Ass" [📷: LXIX]“I gotta bunch of shit on my ass / How did I get all of this shit on my ass?” I ‘SHIT’ YOU NOT, 🎵 “Shit on My Ass” is about exactly what you think it is! *Cues 💩 Emoji* 🎙 Brian Robert Jones unleashed an utterly absurd single, right before 2022.  What a way to ring in the new year – with $H!T ON [YOUR] MY A$$ !  Sigh, it just sorta rolls right off the tongue! This dumb record features bright, exuberant production, and is set in the ripe key of B major – five sharps y’all!

As previously excerpted, “Shit on my Ass” features utterly ridiculous, outlandish lyrics. Take the first verse for example:

“I saw you under a willow tree

You were reading a book about slavery

I sat down in the grass

And asked you, ‘Can you see if I have some shit on my ass?’”

Jesus! The second verse is no better, as Brian is concerned the reason his lover left him is, “‘cause my ass has some shit on it.” And let’s not leave out the third verse, where he’s thrown out of the grocery store because of the poo! And for good measure, he informs us on the outro of the “Feces on my rear end feces on my butt / I couldn’t handle it, it’s so much.” Disgusting! Worth noting, Jones has a nice vocal tone, but he also gets ample help from those vocal effects.  You might say, there’s a lot of $h!t on those vocals making them sound that way! I’m sorry, but I had to!

8. Madison Beer, “BOYSHIT”

💿 Life Support 🏷 Madison Beer / Access • 📅 2021

Madison Beer, Life Support [📷: Madison Beer / Access]“I don’t speak boy-shit.” 🎙 Madison Beer changes traditional bull$hit in favor of 🎵 “BOYSHIT”. “BOYSHIT” appears on Beer’s 2021 debut album, 💿 Life Support. Despite the title with the mighty ‘s-bomb,’ “BOYSHIT” conceptually is familiar territory.  Beer gets a slick, electro-pop fueled backdrop from 🎛 Big Taste and 🎛 Pete Nappi. Beyond the music, the theme and lyrics are also familiar.  Basically, boys can be total buttheads, something that she clearly executes when it comes to this particular ex.

Madison gives her best while he totally messes things up.  She’s tempted to try to make things work again but knows it’s not worth it.  Hence, the centerpiece – the chorus – sums up this poo-poo:

“I don’t speak boy-shit

You’re always coming back but your love’s poison

So, I think that I would rather just avoid it

I can’t understand ya cause I don’t speak boy, no

I don’t speak, I don’t speak, I don’t speak boy-shit.”

Again, that “BOYSHIT” is the new bull$hit… I suppose 🤷.

9. Morgan Wallen, “Country A$$ Shit”

💿 Dangerous: The Double Album • 🏷 Big Loud / Republic • 📅 2021

Morgan Wallen, Dangerous: The Double Album [📷 : Big Loud / Republic]🎙 Morgan Wallen had a successful run with his sophomore album, 💿 Dangerous: The Double Album.  Of course, he’d screwed up the ‘victory lap,’ drunkenly uttering racial slurs. It didn’t hurt his sales but eliminated him from contention for awards.  That said, maybe it was more the dumb $h!t he served up on 🎵 “Country A$$ Shit” as opposed to the n-word…  I mean, “Country A$$ Shit” is, indeed, some sugar honey iced tea.

Ultimately, “Country A$$ Shit” is funny DUMB – and unapologetically country. Being unapologetically country can work adversely – it has for many country musicians – and that’s the case on this dumb-A$$ song! At least Wallen sounds loose and fittingly, doesn’t give a sugar honey iced tea! That said, perhaps he should’ve because ultimately, this song lacks any semblance of depth and does nothing to move the needle for country music.

“I just wanna do country-ass shit

… But wait a minute, the whole world can kiss it

‘Cause me and my country ass gone fishin’.”

10. Migos, “Type Shit”

Ft. Cardi B

💿 Culture III 🏷 Quality Control Music • 🗓 2021

Migos, Culture III [📷: Quality Control Music]“Look up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane / Bitch, it’s the rocket with all of these chains.” Woo! Ah, those 🎙 Migos – they do it for the 💿 Culture! The original Culture was one of the better rap albums of the 10s.  🎙 Offset, 🎙 Quavo, and 🎙 Takeoff were in sync and in top-notch form on the 🏆 Grammy-nominated affair. As for 💿 Culture III (2021), where our sugar honey iced tea song at hand, 🎵 “Type Shit,” hails from, has its moments but doesn’t capture the glory of the original.

“Type shit (Type shit), this the type shit (Let’s roll)

This the type shit that get yo’ bitch hit (Smash).”

Is “Type Shit” an elite moment from Culture III? That would be pushing it – NO CAP. I mean, a record named “Type Shit” doesn’t lend itself to depth. IT’S NOT DEEP PEOPLE! That said, it does bang, at least moderately. Joining the trio is 🎙 Cardi B who brings ample attitude if nothing else.

“My accountant think I’m gay, all I do is buy shit

From the projects to the private jets, I’ve been a fly bitch.”

The beat hits hard, even if it’s ultimately, “Type Shit” is nothing ‘brand new.’

11. Cmoney2423, “She Shitted on My Dick (Freestyle)”

💿 Wake Up • 🏷 DistroKid • 📅 2017

CMoney2423, Wake Up [📷: DistroKid]When you make the decision to compile a playlist of songs literally comprised of Sugar Honey Iced Tea – aka $h!t – well, you can expect $h!t in return.  Still, even with the bar set low, I must ask myself why 🎵 “She Shitted on My Dick (Freestyle)” was recorded and released. 🎙 Cmoney2423 delivers that sugar honey iced tea none of us asked for.  That said, if you listen to this poorly recorded freestyle, he’s outraged about the sugar honey iced tea he receives on his joystick… Wow 😮!

There is nothing transcendent or ‘bigger picture’ regarding “She Shitted on My Dick (Freestyle).” Cmoney2423 is working with an ultra-specific situation – one I’m not exactly sure why he’s sharing.  “Damn, why she shit up on my shit?” He asks on the chorus, adding, “Damn, she shitted on my dick / Damn, why she shit up on my shit?” My, my, my! Of course, Cmoney milks it for all its worth, confronting her farting – rather sharting – and what literally led to this 💩.  Obviously, they were ‘doing it’ when this nastiness went down and prompts the rapper to assert, “I’m never fucking with her again.” Mercy!

12. Valley, “Oh shit…are we in love?”

💿 Last Birthday • 🏷 Universal Music Canada, Inc. • 📅 2021

Valley, Last Birthday [📷: Universal Music Canada, Inc.]Sometimes, sugar honey iced tea is delightful.  That’s the case on 🎵 “Oh shit… are we in love?” a gem courtesy of Canadian indie-pop collective, 🎙 Valley.  This feel-good, well-rounded record appears as the opener on the collective’s 2021 album, 💿 Last Birthday.  Basically, it’s about a budding romance where the participants realize the titular statement is reality – they’ve fallen in love.

It should be noted that Valley doesn’t serve up any bad sugar honey iced tea.  “Oh shit…” is well-produced (Valley and 🎛 Jorgen Odegard).  The lyrics and narrative are thoughtful – sort of a romantic way of imagining a budding romance.  The centerpiece of “Oh shit…are we in love?” is the chorus, where the big realization occurs.

“Wait, slow down, don’t think too much

Back up, you’ve been here for months

Oh, shit, are we in love?

Slow down, no need to rush

Back up, you’ve been here for months

Oh, shit, are we in love?

I only fell when I gave up.”

Also, shout out those sweet vocals by 🎙 Rob Laska. Nothing $h!✝️✝️y about this song right hurr!

13. Juice WRLD & Benny Blanco, “Real Shit”

🎵 “Real Shit” • 🏷 Grade A Productions / Interscope• 📅 2020

Juice WRLD (with benny blanco), "Real Shit" [📷 : Grade A Productions / Interscope]“Real shit, real shit, never tell a lie.” It’s honestly a good philosophy that the late 🎙 Juice WRLD expresses on 🎵 “Real Shit”, a single released on what would’ve been his 22nd birthday (December 2).  On the melodic single, he’s assisted by the pen and production of 🎙 benny blanco.  In addition to blanco, “Real Shit” is also produced by 🎛 Cashmere Cat, 🎛 Henry Kwapis, 🎛 Jack Karaszewski, and 🎛 Dylan Brady.

“Real Shit” is characteristic of Juice WRLD.  It’s melodic, finding the deceased artist embracing the emo side of the genre.  The chorus is ear catching.  Beyond the chorus, the post-chorus continues the goodness (“Life’s good so I’m living great”), even before we get a single verse.  Early on, it’s clear, Juice is all about positive vibes.  On the second verse, he enthusiastically asserts:

“I’m eatin’ too damn good

Goddamn, tryna gain weight

Workin’ on my demons, they in better shape

Demons on my back, get them away from me.”

Sadly, Juice was unable to make the positive attitude and progress on this single a reality.
