â15 Boring Songs That Are Totally Excitingâ features music by AK, Ariana Grande, Tessa Violet, Tyga & Curtis Roach, and Wallows.
If you are BORED, particularly âUltra Boredâ like Zack Eckert, well, youâve come to the right place. If youâre checking this playlist out at the date of publication, you are well aware of how COVID-19 has changed lives worldwide, and definitely upped the boringness. The good news is, while all of the songs here are boring, well, theyâre not really boring. Thatâs right, this playlist may have boring songs â eight of them hailing from 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored â but ultimately, none of the 15 songs are a total bore.
Instead, we have 15 BORING SONGS THAT ARE TOTALLY EXCITING. Thatâs definitely âhell yeahâ worthy if I do say so myself! Musicians gracing this totally NOT bored affair include AK (âGot Boredâ), Ariana Grande (âBreak up with your girlfriend, Iâm boredâ), Tessa Violet (âBoredâ), Tyga & Curtis Roach (âBored in the Houseâ), and Wallows (âAre You Bored Yet?â) among others. Prepare yourself for total mind stimulation!

1. Tyga & Curtis Roach, âBored in the Houseâ
âBored in the Houseâ âąÂ Last Kings / Columbia âąÂ 2020
âOkay, Iâm bored in the house and Iâm in the house bored / Bored in the house and Iâm the house bored.â Hmm, thatâs, um, definitely enthralling stuff Curtis Roach. Hereâs the thing, though. Roach and Tyga are actually ârelatableâ on the utterly dumb, minimalist banger âBored in the Houseâ. Both rappers were bored AF, so they decided to make us all less bored with the minimalist, COVID-19 banger, âBored in the House.â Does either rapper say anything noteworthy? Absolutely not, but with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting everybody in 2020, well âBored in the Houseâ definitely has more relevance than it ordinarily might.
âBored in the Houseâ hearkens back to the skeletal bangers of old (Think âWait (The Whisper Song)â). After Roach âbrings it on homeâ with the chorus and the utterly repetitive post-chorus (âIâm bored, boredâŠâ), Tyga goes into his usual, sexed-up spill. Naturally, he âNeed [him] a thick chickâ because heâs âSittinâ on the couch⊠goinâ through Netflix.â Even if heâs âhealthy at home,â he still thinks with his penis: âAt home like Depot, ayy (Depot) / She gonâ suck it like mosquito, ayy.â Yeah, really rousing stuff thereâŠ
Roach gets his own verse to play up the effects of COVID-19, totally setting the mood: âIâm in the crib like an infant / With some Badu playinâ, burning incense.â I would argue he has the more intriguing verse, with lines like âIâma socialize at a distance / Iâm living my best life, minding my businessâ and more specific examples of epic boringness that often eludes busy celebs like âRamen noodles every night for my din-din / Hulu, binge watchinâ episodes of Ben-10.â Sure, âBored in the Houseâ goes hella dumb â but, it definitely fits the times. Transcendent itâs not, but hey, we all need something to lift our spirits.
2. Jack Bruno, âSomeday (Before U Get Bored)â
4u (EP) âą Winning Team Music âą 2020
If you havenât had the pleasure of hearing Jack Bruno, well, you need to get on that! Per his official Facebook page, heâs âAn LA based singer, rapper, multi-instrumentalist and producer who cooks up a modern punked-up style of his own.â That description (and realization of such talents), coupled with Brunoâs distinct look makes him quite intriguing. He shows backs up such intrigue on a superb, totally must hear single, âSomeday (Before U Get Bored).â Iâll assure you that you wonât be the least bit bored listening to this song!
According to Bruno (via a Hollywood Life interview), âThat whole song is about the beginning of a relationship.â He goes on to provide further insight on the relationship, saying, âItâs funny because, in this scenario of me writing that song, that relationship was wrong. I was totally wrong.â  Hey, at least heâs honest, and honesty is the best policy! But beyond that background, thereâs something else that makes âSomeday (Before U Get Bored)â pretty cool â he samples The Strokes! This helps to give the record its distinct sound while also being totally nostalgic to the band in their heyday. Nah, âSomedayâ didnât need to be remade or transformed, but Jack Bruno uses this classic and makes it special in his own way.
3. Tiagz, âBored in My House (Quarantine)â
âBored in My House (Quarantine)â âą 736948 Records DK âąÂ 2020
If you couldnât gather it from the title, Tiagz is bored â very bored. âIâm so bored in my house tiktoking with their friends at that big nice house.â âBored in My House (Quarantine)â is one of many products of the âspawn of Satanâ otherwise known as the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadian rapper keeps it short on this anthem of utter boredom â under two minutes to be precise. His un-energetic approach certainly doesnât make it a rousing effort but thatâs actually the point â the man is bored out of his mind!
What does make âBored in My Houseâ compelling is the production; itâs certainly colorful sounding. And, even if Tiagz isnât exactly thrilled to perform, itâs still, um, a âcharmingâ performance you might say. A deadpan approach works out pretty well for some â looking at you 21 Savage. Iâll leave you with one last âgemâ from Tiagz:
âAnyway, anyway you Did not know what I been through How could you have a clue You are not Scooby-Doo.â

4. Jeff Bernat, âBoredâ
âBoredâ âąÂ Jeff Bernat âą 2020
Guess what happened to Jeff Bernat? He got totally â wait for it â âBored.â Even so, the R&B singer asserts, âIâd rather be bored / Bored doing nothing with you.â Thatâs so stinking sweet, especially when thereâs so much boredom in 2020 to float a totally bored boat. In case you are unfamiliar with Bernat, heâs a Filipino-American singer/songwriter.  The vibes are smooth and chill AF on âBored.â
The boredom has been real to the nth degree for some of musicians on this list. Thatâs not the case for Jeff Bernat. He sounds amazing â quite smooth, soulful, and dedicated. While âBoredâ is a contemporary R&B cut, it has âthrowbackâ vibes written all over it. This is that âgrown and sexyâ brand of R&B â the type that âmakes you feel some type of way.â That type of way, my friends, is NOT boredom. Behold, the chorus in all of its glory, accompanied by guitar, keyboards, and drum programming:
âIâd rather be bored Bored doing nothing with you Iâd rather be up in my bed, watching some Netflix Girl, if thereâs nothing to do Iâma do it with you.â
5. AK, âGot Boredâ
âGot Boredâ âąÂ AK Music âą 2020
âSlow it down / Slow it down, a second though / Hold it down, for my roots seven thirty dos / I donât want, ever be on a pedestal / You and I, weâre the same, donât forget it, no.â If you need a banger in your life, look no further than âGot Boredâ by my man, AK! If you havenât become hip to the New Jersey rapper, well, the time is now. Mark my words, there is nothing the least bit boring about AK nor the song at hand. The aforementioned chorus is just one of many selling points about this totally NOT bored gem.
The biggest thing that stands out about âGot Boredâ is AK himself. His confidence is through the roof, and his flow â top-notch!
âWant me trapped inside my bedroom where this started Well I feel a little differently Went from remixing beats and now we here Rapping over beats, I made my fucking self But Iâma chill, let meâŠâ
The energy is absolutely infectious â you can tell he loves what heâs doing. Furthermore, the production is epic. AK certainly has fuel for the fire.
âEverything Iâm scared to say is why I write so many songs Different flow sand melodies, a lot of them donât have any Types of bars I know yâall want, so I be scared to let âem see The light of day, âcause thatâs the vibe that probably wonât really hit But fuck that, I get itâs business but my gut ainât feelin itâŠâ
6. Ariana Grande, âBreak up with your girlfriend, Iâm boredâ
Thank u, next âą Republic âą 2019
âYou got me some type of way / Ainât used to feelinâ this way / I do not know what to say / But I know I shouldnât think about it.â Hmm, yield not to temptation! In the context of thank u, next, the fifth studio album by Ariana Grande, âBreak up with Your Girlfriend, Iâm Boredâ has the monstrous task of following number one hits â7 Ringsâ and âThank U, Nextâ. Nonetheless, this girlfriend-driven single is another worthwhile moment from thank u, next in all respects.
Grande continues to shine with stunning vocals, while the production remains slick, and the songwriting entertaining and ultimately, sound. The theme and point of the record is pretty obvious, right? Right.
âBreak up with your girlfriend Yeah, yeah, âcause Iâm bored You could hit it in the morninâ Yeah, yeah, like itâs yours I know it ainât right But I donât care Break up with your girlfriend Yeah, yeah, âcause Iâm bored.â
âBreak up with you Girlfriend, Iâm Boredâ has previously appeared on 10 Alluring Boyfriend or Girlfriend Songs, 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored, and the most prestigious of the bunch, 51 Best Songs of 2019.

7. Carlie Hanson, âBored with Youâ
Junk (EP) âąÂ Warner âąÂ 2019
âEven if thereâs something to do / Iâd rather be bored with you.â I couldnât agree more Carlie Hanson, as long as heâs totally worth the time girl! âBored with Youâ appears as the spirited opener of Hansonâs 2019 EP, Junk. Thatâs certainly a title with a negative connotation, but I wouldnât characterize the song at hand as junky in the least!
Early on, Hanson shows her hand. The aforementioned lyrics are not only the chorus, but also appear at the beginning of âBored with You.â Then, she drops the bomb â but not the f-bomb. âShit, where you at? / Iâve been laying alone in my room / And Iâm out of my mind.â That portion of the first verse certainly speaks to a couple of things â boredom and, well, loneliness, horniness⊠For those who were sad she didnât drop the f-bomb, well, she comes through on the pre-chorus:
âI want your company out on this balcony Donât fuck around with me, come and smoke out with me Yeah, come and smoke out with me âCause the truth isâŠâ
Hmm, so sheâs more interested in smoking than⊠To each his or her own, I suppose. Regardless, âBored with Youâ is a great pop song. Hanson has plenty of attitude and energy, plus she sings pretty well. Furthermore, House of Wolf and Skylar Mones do a damn good job with the production.
8. Wallows, âAre You Bored Yet?â
Ft. Clairo
Nothing Happens âą Atlantic âąÂ 2019
âIâm still thinking, letâs pretend to fall asleep now / When we get old, will we regret this? / Too young to think about all that shit / And stalling only goes so far when youâve got a head start.â Dylan Minnette serves as the front man of alternative rock band Wallows. The actor and singer probably best known for his role portraying Clay Jensen on the polarizing Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why. Minnette, along with fellow members Cole Preston and Braeden Lemasters dropped their debut album, Nothing Happens, 2019. âAre You Bored Yet?â featuring Clairo, previously appeared on the playlist, 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored, and the question-based list, 13 Splendid Songs Where the Men Ask Questions.
âAre You Bored Yet?â is alluring from start to finish. The record keeps things short, sweet, chill, and enigmatic among other things. Minnette and Clairo have excellent vocal chemistry, never losing their poise. You could say that both deliver performances that âfloat alongâ as opposed to being incredibly assertive or commanding. Likewise, the production maintains similar composure, with its gentle, but totally fitting palette of sounds: piano, warm synths, and light, rhythmic drums. Just to reiterate, the chill is real on âAre You Bored Yet?â
ââCause we could stay at home and watch the sunset But I canât help from asking, âAre you bored yet?â And if youâre feeling lonely you should tell me Before this ends up as another memory Will you tell the truth, so I donât have to lie? Will you tell the truth, so I donât have to lie?â
Well, will you?
9. Tessa Violet, âBoredâ
Bad Ideas âąÂ TâG Music âąÂ 2019
âIâm so bored of wakinâ up, Iâm so bored / Bored of whatâs inside my cup, Iâm so bored / Iâm exhausted by my heart / Iâd feel good if only I could finish what I start.â Like most of the musicians on this playlist, Tessa Violet is bored AF. The bigger picture though is that the indie pop singer/songwriter and vlogger is depressed. Itâs certainly deceptive, given how exuberant and spirited âBoredâ is. That, of course, is part of the genius of this standout from Bad Ideas, released in 2019.
Part of the exuberance and spirited nature of âBoredâ comes from its colorful production.  The pummeling drums definitely liven things up, while the layers of sounds (guitar, horn, keyboards, etc.) further sweeten things. Of course, the centerpiece is none other than Tessa Violet, her huge personality, and some tongue-n-cheek ad-libs (âBored, hey!â). Of course, on the verses, we really see Violet being self-critical, self-deprecating, and clearly highlighting how mental health can affect us all. âWish I werenât so self-obsessed,â she sings on the first verse, continuing, âWish that I could be the best / Excited with my words, but Iâm nervous and Iâm bored.â

10. Matt Fishel, âBored of Straight Boysâ
M/F âą Young Lust âą 2018
âAnd he canât help himself from explaining / All the things he does to girls during sex.â Uh oh⊠We have an anti-straight boy anthem on our hands â nothing boring about that, right? Right!  Matt Fishel isnât feeling the actions and despicable attitude of straight guys on the standout from his 2018 album, M/F. On the infectious chorus, he proclaims, âAnd Iâm so bored of straight boys / Who only wanna talk football, down alcohol, and hassle women.â
Fishel also incorporates same-sex references, including, âSomebody didnât get enough bromance in as a teen, I suppose / Finally getting your chance to enjoy some same sex action with all of your bros.â And to all the straight boys out there, heâs ââŠNot calling all hetero boys out/âŠBut we all know those bros who act like dickheads.â Colorful joint to say the least⊠maybe not for straight boys though. âBored of Straight Boysâ previously appeared on the playlists 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored, 14 Songs That Are About Boys or Girls, 100 Best Songs of 2018, and A Compendium Comprised of 100 Notable LGBTQ+ Songs.
11. Bea Miller, âboredâ
Aurora âą Hollywood âąÂ 2018
âBut you donât satisfy the hunger in my mind / âCause our bodies are predictable.â Wow⊠Although Aurora, the 2018 LP by actress and pop artist Bea Miller wasnât reviewed on The Musical Hype, several songs landed on our playlists including âcrash&burnâ (11 Songs Where the âCrashâ is Real) and âgirlfriendâ (10 Alluring Boyfriend or Girlfriend Songs). Also, the song at hand, âBored,â appeared on the original bored-themed list, 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored. Now, it reappears on the re-up!
On the slick âbored,â the relationship seems to be utterly predictable â boring in effect. Throughout the verses, Bea Miller highlights a connection that transcends beyond the bedroom. On the second verse she sings, âI just want some company / When Iâm not between your sheets.â Unfortunately, the chorus finds Miller and her âboyfriendâ essentially âgoing through the motionsâ again â hooking up ultimately.
âKnow Iâm gonna call you on the phone Know Iâm gonna ask when you get home I already know whatâs next I end up in your bed Then you gonna put back on your clothes Then Iâm gonna wish I was alone But we never change a step And do it all again Iâm bored.â
12. Tyler, the Creator, âBoredomâ
Ft. Rex Orange County & Anna of the North
Flower Boy âą Columbia âąÂ 2017
âBoredom got a new best friend / Cause boredom got a new best friend.â Rex Orange County, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Anna of the North handle vocal duties at the beginning of âBoredomâ, one of many highlights from Flower Boy, the critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated 2017 album by rapper/producer Tyler the Creator. The bulk of the vocals are handled by Rex Orange County. Over the course of an intro, hook, and verse, they set up âboredomâ as a contradiction: âFind some time / Find some time to do something.â
âBoy, my bedroom floor is a cereal burial, Iâm serious / I ate âem all, dry boxes, bodies, yeah, I caught âemâŠâ Hmm, interesting. Tyler, the Creator enters the picture on the second verse, getting down to business as usual. He is, indeed, bored, by his own admission, followed by the aforementioned play on words, as well as exaggerated lyrics such as, âIâve been in this fuckinâ room so long / My eyes are turning to drywall.â Eventually, Tyler, joined by the supporting cast close things out. Itâs no rush, as the jazzy, lush, production work isnât shortchanged over the course of its five-and-a-half-minute duration. âBoredomâ appeared on the original bored playlist, 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored.
[/nextpage][nextpage title=”13-15″ ]
13. Billie Eilish, âBoredâ
13 Reasons Why (A Netflix Original Series Soundtrack) âąÂ Paramount / Interscope âąÂ 2017
âThe games you played were never fun / Youâd say youâd stay but then youâd run.â Thatâs the brief first verse, and the âsecond is like unto itâ â âIâm home alone, youâre God knows where / I hope you donât think that shitâs fair.â Ah, matters of the heart seem to come into play on the song âBoredâ which isnât the least bit boring to say the least. Rising alternative pop phenom Billie Eilish sounds incredible on the low-key record, produced by FINNEAS, who just happens to be her brother BTW. Â âBoredâ was a highlight from the soundtrack for the Netflix Original Series, 13 Reasons Why, released in 2017.
Vocally, Eilish sounds poised, polished, silky smooth, and enigmatic, all accurate characterizations of her sound and vibe so far in her career. Much like the aforementioned Bea Miller song of the same title, thereâs no progression whatsoever occurring in the relationship. On the pre-chorus, Eilish asserts, âGiving you what youâre begging for / Giving you what you say I need, say I need,â clearly suggesting sheâs skeptical to the nth degree. Such skepticism is confirmed on the chorus, where she sings:
âIâm not afraid anymore What makes you sure youâre all I need? (I need) Forget about it When you walk out the door and leave me torn Youâre teaching me to live without it Bored, Iâm so bored, Iâm so bored, so bored.â
âBoredâ previously appeared on the original bored-themed playlist, Â 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored.
14. Blink-182, âBored to Deathâ
California âąÂ BMG Rights Management âąÂ 2016
âAnd itâs a long way back from 17 / The whispers turn into a scream / And I⊠Iâm not coming home.â Okay⊠Despite the fact that Tom DeLonge may or may not have been focusing his energies on UFOs, beloved punk-pop band Blink-182 made a comeback in 2016 with California. Replacing DeLonge was Matt Skiba (The Alkaline Trio) on vocals and guitar, while Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker remained on board.  California didnât contain material supplanting classics by the trio such as âAll the Small Things,â âDammit,â or âWhatâs My Age Again,â but proved to be an enjoyable, well-rounded affair. Among the highlights of the project is the song at hand, âBored to Death.â
âSave your breath, Iâm nearly / Bored to death and fading fast / Life is too short to last long.â âBored to Deathâ gloriously commences with Travis Barkerâs signature drum groove, sigh. The record references the past, present, and future. Apparently, the energetic standout also takes a jab at the aforementioned, supposed UFO-exploring Tom DeLonge, on the chorus, excerpted at the beginning of this paragraph. There was clearly tension between DeLonge and blink-182, while there have also been rumors of his return. Take it all with a grain of salt. Notably, Steve Aoki dropped a remix of the standout, which can be seen below. âBored to Deathâ appeared on the original bored-themed playlist,  8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored.
15. Father John Misty, âBored in the USAâ
I Love You, Honeybear âą Sub Pop âąÂ 2015
âBored in the USA,â a highlight from the 2015 album I Love You, Honeybear, is seemingly absurd from the start: âHow many people rise and say, âMy brainâs so awfully glad to be here for yet another mindless dayâ.â Ultimately, Father John Misty (Josh Tillman) seems to be painting a portrait that many feel about their lives as they get older. Things change from being youthful and vivacious to being nothing short of a drag â a total bummer filled with bills, âbeauty warps and fades,â and keeping âmy prescriptions filled.â That ultimately includes the problems suffered in the USA with joblessness, economic issues, etc.
Most notably, âBored in the USAâ is a play on Bruce Springsteenâs more enthusiastic-sounding classic, âBorn In the USAâ. It should be noted that even the Springsteen record is critical of certain facets of life in the U.S.A. âBored in The U.S.A.â just adds fuel to the fire.
âBored in the USAâ appeared on the original bored-themed playlist, Â 8 Songs That Certainly Wonât Leave You Bored.
