“I can hardly wait / And I’ll be there in a couple of states / Say you’re missing this / When I get the taste for your lips.”
Damn, a couple of states, Wyatt Flores?  That’s going to take you a while to arrive, right? Well, according to the Oklahoman Mexican American country singer-songwriter, he’s willing to “Drive All Night”.  Perhaps it’s crazy, but the heart wants what it wants, and, his tale of desire for her makes for an incredible country song. “Drive All Night” was written by Flores, Gian Stone, Joe Reeves, Jamie McLaughlin, and Jacob Kasher HindlinCharlie Handsome (Ryan Vojtesak), Hindlin, and Stone produced it.

“Drive All Night” shines from the get-go. It features a warm instrumental introduction.  There is a fabulous blend of piano, guitar, bass, and drums. Adding to the instrumental ear candy are the fiddle (J. Spivey) and the organ (Alex Wright).  But the star of the show is our young and incredibly talented Oklahoman. Wyatt Flores sings expressively, in a nuanced manner.  He gives his all in his performance; I heart his authenticity and buy what he’s selling.  One of my favorite aspects of his performance is how he slides up to specific notes. “Drive All Night” features tuneful melodies throughout. Also, check off the boxes for memorable lyrics and songwriting.  “Girl, it’s been too long, and I need your touch,” he sings in the second verse, and concludes, “Counting miles down ‘til I see your face / Go get ready now ‘cause I’m five away.” Ooh-wee! The chorus is utterly superb:

“I’ll drive all night

Picture on the dashboard, pedal through the floor ‘til I’m by your side

I’ll drive all night

I ain’t getting no rest ‘til I’m in your bed, not just on your mind…”

His dedication and desire aren’t in question. Ultimately, Wyatt Flores does his big one with “Drive All Night”.  He brings freshness to a genre that quickly becomes oversaturated with sameness.  If you must drive all night, do so listening to this surefire bop.
