Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (2/20/21): Morgan Wallen and Olivia Rodrigo continue their chart dominance.
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week ( Morgan Wallen Continues Dominance: Scanning the Charts
No. 8), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that
moving. This week, I picked out SEVEN notable observations
from the Billboard 200
, and THREE observations
from the Billboard Hot 100
, with
Morgan Wallen spending a seventh week atop the Billboard 200 with
Dangerous: The Double Album, while
Olivia Rodrigo spends her seventh week atop the Billboard Hot 100 with βDrivers Licenseβ.
Billboard 200
Morgan Wallen spends his seventh consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with
Dangerous: The Double Album.
Kevin Gates debuts at no. 18 with his latest project,
Only the Generals, Part II. Only the Generals marks the top debut on this weekβs Billboard 200. Yikes!
With the release of the deluxe version of his album,
Pegasus (
Pegasus: Neon Shark vs Pegasus Presented by Travis Barker),
Trippie Redd reenters the Billboard 200 at no. 20.
CJ debuts modestly at no. 56 with
Loyalty Over Royalty. Not sure that those numbers are equivalent to a β wait for it β
βBOPβ!
Kali Uchis secures a top-100 debut with
Sin Miedo (Del Amor y Otros Demonios), which debuts at no. 77.
A couple of
Daft Punk albums reenter the chart given the end of the legendary electronic duo. Discovery reenters the mix at no. 121 while their Grammy-winning
Random Access Memories reenters at no. 146.
Carly Pearce does manage to debut on the Billboard 200. Thatβs the good news. The bad news?
29 didnβt exactly light up the charts with its tepid no. 172 start.
Billboard Hot 100
Olivia Rodrigo spends a seventh consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with
βDrivers Licenseβ.
NF debuts at no. 53 on a relatively quiet Hot 100 with
βCloudsβ which appears on his forthcoming mixtape. βCloudsβ marks the top debuting single on this weekβs edition of the chart.
So, whatβs the next highest newbie on the Hot 100? That would be
βTelepatiaβ, courtesy of
Kali Uchis, which bows at no 54.
