Swedish pop singer-songwriter Tove Lo drops another bop with “DNH,” the second single and fifth track from her sixth studio album, ESTRUS.
“DNH” is a vibe, PERIODT. First, the colorful, electrifying synths catch the ear. Beyond its expert production, the song is melodious from the get-go. Adding another layer of excellence are memorable lyrics. “I promise I love you and this isn’t an attack,” Tove Lo sings in the brief first verse, and concludes, “At the end of the night, I’m the one holding your hair back.” She delivers a strong vocal performance, once where you buy what she sells. Of course, it should come as no surprise that the chorus is the crème de la crème:
“You’re drunk and horny in the crowd
You need attention, let your tears come down
You crying harder kick us out
You’re still my best friend when you ruin my night.”
Even so, both verses are sweet, too! And the pre-chorus? Not too shabby! “‘Cause I came here to dance, but you’re changing my plans / Now I’m stuck in the corner sober.” All told, “DNH” marks another winner for Tove Lo, who never fails to release compelling bops. Although it has a short runtime, it checks off all the boxes.
