Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops ‘served up.’ All music genres are welcome. Songs, old and new, are welcome. So, without further ado, in the 91st edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “I DON’T KNOW LOVE” performed by Timothy Skyler.

“If this romance, then tear me apart / I’ve never known love, I’ll learn in your arms.” Ooh-la-la Timmy, rather, Timothy Skyler (Timothy van Bloem)! The incredibly easy-on-the-eyes, talented Skyler first tickled my fancy and turned me on 🤭 🤫 with his single, “BAIT”. Not only did he flaunt a sickening bod, but also a sickening voice and polished songwriting. His sickening ways also shine on “I DON’T KNOW LOVE.”  Sure, we don’t get a hot music video showing off that bare chest 🥵, but we get awesome vocals, relatable themes, and a well-produced, well-rounded pop song.  Skyler wrote and produced “I DON’T KNOW LOVE.”

Continuous, warm, rhythmic keyboard accompaniment goes a long way.  Percussion-less, this backdrop is perfect fuel for Timothy Skyler’s fire. Our handsome fella delivers radiant vocals. He sings authentically, expressively, and sincerely. “I lost me, tryna find somebody in you,” he sings in the first verse, “I’m still here fightin’ for the man that I knew.” Aww! The melodies are tuneful, while the lyrics are heartfelt and thoughtful. The chorus is the best moment. I like his vocal grit and rasp during the chorus.

“I don’t think love’s supposed to hurt like this

I don’t think you’re supposed to keep your kiss from me

Don’t think I’m supposed to beg you not to leave

‘Cause my friends know how you speak to me

… Bein’ who our daddies taught us both to be

Baby, it’s so clear to me that this ain’t normal.”

Ooh-wee! In the second verse, Skyler admits, “I don’t know love, but I know I’m exhausted.” He also highlights how influential ‘physicality’ is, if you catch my drift: “Your gentle lips brush on my neck / Tellin’ me not to listen to my friends.” The bridge separates itself from the verse and chorus.  Skyler continues to express his emotions and his disappointments with ‘love.’ The harmonized vocals during this section are sensational.  Additional keys and synths join the mix during this section, upping the ante.  The love may not truly be loving, but “I DON’T KNOW LOVE” is truly a bop more folks need to hear from Timothy Skyler. More than a cutie with a banging bod, Skyler possesses the musical goods.  The voice, the writing, the production are on point, PERIODT!
