The Weeknd Settles for No. 2: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 7 [πŸ“·: Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Pexels, Pixabay, Republic]Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (2/20/21): The Weeknd debuts at no. 2 with his first career greatest hits set, The Highlights. Β

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β  To reiterate what I said last week (πŸ“‰ A Bittersweet 4th Week for Morgan Wallen: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 6), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that πŸ’© moving.Β  This week, I picked out FOUR Β notable observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰, Β and FIVE observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Morgan Wallen spending a fifth week atop the Billboard 200 with πŸ’Ώ Dangerous: The Double Album, while πŸŽ™ The Weeknd settles for no. 2 for his greatest hits compilation, πŸ’Ώ The Highlights.

The Weeknd, The Highlights [πŸ“·: Republic]πŸ’ Despite being cancelled to some extent, πŸŽ™ Morgan Wallen continues his chart dominance with πŸ’Ώ Dangerous: The Double Album, which spends its fifth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200.

πŸ’ With Morgan Wallen continuing his dominance, he manages to hold off a number of new albums. πŸŽ™ The Weeknd, fresh off of what’s been considered a polarizing Superbowl Halftime performance – some liked it, some hated it – launches at no. 2 with his first career greatest hits compilation, πŸ’Ώ The Highlights.

πŸ’ A bit surprising personally was seeing πŸŽ™ Foo Fighters settle for a no. 3 launch of their 10th studio album, πŸ’Ώ Medicine at Midnight.Β  According to Billboard, it was the bestselling album of the week which isn’t surprising for more veteran acts.

πŸ’ Admittedly, I’m less familiar with the no. 4 bow on the Billboard 200, πŸ’Ώ Shiesty Season courtesy of rapper πŸŽ™ Pooh Shiesty.Β  Worth noting, Shiesty Season is the last new album to be found on the charts this week.

Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰

Olivia Rodrigo, "Drivers License" [πŸ“· : Olivia Rodrigo / Geffen]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo spends a fifth consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œDrivers License”.Β  Anyone surprised?

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Cardi B was unable to dethrone Olivia Rodrigo. Regardless, 🎡 β€œUp” still musters up a strong debut at no. 2.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Moneybagg Yo sees 🎡 β€œTime Today” launch at no. 37 on the Hot 100.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Dan + Shay make their mark on the Hot 100 once more with 🎡 β€œGlad You Exist”, which bows at no. 63.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Jason Derulo and πŸŽ™ Adam Levine put a small dent into the Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œLifestyle”, which launches modestly at no. 95.
