Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (2/20/21): The Weeknd debuts at no. 2 with his first career greatest hits set, The Highlights. Β
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β To reiterate what I said last week (π A Bittersweet 4th Week for Morgan Wallen: Scanning the Charts π No. 6), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that π© moving.Β This week, I picked out FOUR Β notable observations π from the Billboard 200 π, Β and FIVE observations π from the Billboard Hot 100 π, with π Morgan Wallen spending a fifth week atop the Billboard 200 with πΏ Dangerous: The Double Album, while π The Weeknd settles for no. 2 for his greatest hits compilation, πΏ The Highlights.
Billboard 200 π
π Despite being cancelled to some extent, π Morgan Wallen continues his chart dominance with πΏ Dangerous: The Double Album, which spends its fifth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200.
π With Morgan Wallen continuing his dominance, he manages to hold off a number of new albums. π The Weeknd, fresh off of whatβs been considered a polarizing Superbowl Halftime performance β some liked it, some hated it β launches at no. 2 with his first career greatest hits compilation, πΏ The Highlights.
π A bit surprising personally was seeing π Foo Fighters settle for a no. 3 launch of their 10th studio album, πΏ Medicine at Midnight.Β According to Billboard, it was the bestselling album of the week which isnβt surprising for more veteran acts.
π Admittedly, Iβm less familiar with the no. 4 bow on the Billboard 200, πΏ Shiesty Season courtesy of rapper π Pooh Shiesty.Β Worth noting, Shiesty Season is the last new album to be found on the charts this week.
Billboard Hot 100 π
π π Olivia Rodrigo spends a fifth consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with π΅ βDrivers Licenseβ.Β Anyone surprised?
π π Cardi B was unable to dethrone Olivia Rodrigo. Regardless, π΅ βUpβ still musters up a strong debut at no. 2.
π π Moneybagg Yo sees π΅ βTime Todayβ launch at no. 37 on the Hot 100.
π π Dan + Shay make their mark on the Hot 100 once more with π΅ βGlad You Existβ, which bows at no. 63.
π π Jason Derulo and π Adam Levine put a small dent into the Hot 100 with π΅ βLifestyleβ, which launches modestly at no. 95.
