Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (2/20/21): The Weeknd debuts at no. 2 with his first career greatest hits set, The Highlights.
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week ( A Bittersweet 4th Week for Morgan Wallen: Scanning the Charts
No. 6), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that
moving. This week, I picked out FOUR notable observations
from the Billboard 200
, and FIVE observations
from the Billboard Hot 100
, with
Morgan Wallen spending a fifth week atop the Billboard 200 with
Dangerous: The Double Album, while
The Weeknd settles for no. 2 for his greatest hits compilation,
The Highlights.
Billboard 200
Despite being cancelled to some extent,
Morgan Wallen continues his chart dominance with
Dangerous: The Double Album, which spends its fifth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200.
With Morgan Wallen continuing his dominance, he manages to hold off a number of new albums.
The Weeknd, fresh off of whatβs been considered a polarizing Superbowl Halftime performance β some liked it, some hated it β launches at no. 2 with his first career greatest hits compilation,
The Highlights.
A bit surprising personally was seeing
Foo Fighters settle for a no. 3 launch of their 10th studio album,
Medicine at Midnight. According to Billboard, it was the bestselling album of the week which isnβt surprising for more veteran acts.
Admittedly, Iβm less familiar with the no. 4 bow on the Billboard 200,
Shiesty Season courtesy of rapper
Pooh Shiesty. Worth noting, Shiesty Season is the last new album to be found on the charts this week.
Billboard Hot 100
Olivia Rodrigo spends a fifth consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with
βDrivers Licenseβ. Anyone surprised?
Cardi B was unable to dethrone Olivia Rodrigo. Regardless,
βUpβ still musters up a strong debut at no. 2.
Moneybagg Yo sees
βTime Todayβ launch at no. 37 on the Hot 100.
Dan + Shay make their mark on the Hot 100 once more with
βGlad You Existβ, which bows at no. 63.
Jason Derulo and
Adam Levine put a small dent into the Hot 100 with
βLifestyleβ, which launches modestly at no. 95.
