Grammy-nominated Australian artist The Kid LAROI drops a surefire banger with “I CONDEMN,” from the deluxe version of BEFORE I FORGET.
Beyond a fiery LAROI, “I CONDEMN” features some badass production. The instrumental goes hard from the get-go – NO CAP! The Kid LAROI keeps the same energy, bringing ample swag. No longer a kid per se, Howard is still young (pushing 23), confident, cool, and captivating. His performance has melodic rap/pop-rap sensibilities. Sure, he’s landed in pop, but this joint has some hip-hop. The melodies are tuneful and rhythmic, riding the busy, intense, and sleek backdrop like a champ! Beyond the chorus, The Kid is honest about his condemnations! It’s not all condemnation, though. “I’m immature, I told her I’m home alone like I’m Macaulay,” he asserts in the first verse, and adds, “Come through, oh, baby, come through ‘cause I’m over performing.” OKAYYYY! In the second verse, he is dedicated to this girl, whoever she is: “I should probably thank your mother and your father and thank God / Thank God (Mercy).” She must be the whole new situation mentioned in the chorus. Beyond the two verses and the chorus, there is also a refrain: “You only come around when you need someone / Now she wanna bring a friend and have a threesome…” Word. All told, “I CONDEMN” is a short but sweet pop/rap banger from The Kid LAROI. The big takeaway… he condemns that shit. Deep!
