Stanaj, Dirty Mind © RepublicStanaj continues to build his case as the next big pop star on “Dirty Mind,” featuring ubiquitous collaborator, Ty Dolla $ign.

Who is Stanaj? He’s a 24-year old pop musician born in Albania, though he’s lived in the US since his high school days.  Albert (his first name) released an EP in 2016 (The Preview) as well as in 2017 (From a Distance) but has yet to drop a full-length album.  Aside from a guest appearance on the Afrojack record “Bed of Roses,” “Dirty Mind,” featuring Ty Dolla Sign marks his first new single (as the lead artist) since 2017.

“This could only go two ways / Being with you / Or thinkin’ bout being with you.” “Dirty Mind” begins abruptly with what ends up being the chorus.  Essentially, Stanaj shows his hand early – simply can’t stop thinking about her. Throughout most of the song, he delivers boyish, cool, low-key, smooth vocals – that’s a lot of adjectives.  He states the desires of his heart over an utterly infectious groove. His lust is at an all-time high on the second verse as he asserts:

“You’re the leading role in my best scenes
The star of my wet dreams.”

Ty Dolla $ign has a small solo part compared to Stanaj.  He is, unsurprisingly, more aggressive and courser in sound compared to the lead artist. The two join forces for the final iteration of the chorus.  Stanaj remains the star, breaking into some sick falsetto.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Stanaj showcases plenty of potential on “Dirty Mind.” It’s not the second coming mind you, but it’s an enjoyable, sexy little joint.  Nice vocals, nice production work, and Albert definitely has the looks of a potential pop superstar.
