Slayyyter, BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE [📷: RECORDS Label LLC / Columbia Records]Slayyyter is true to her blunt, wild, and unapologetic self on the brief but entertaining single “BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE.”

“I’m a broke bitch, I’m a star / Maxed out credit card / I’m a broke bitch, caviar / Breakfast on the floor…”
Poetic, Slayyyter (Catherine Grace Garner).  Okay, it’s not poetic in the least, but at least Catherine is honest – transparent to the nth degree.  “BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE” is intriguing, even if it fails to be eloquent, polished, or refined.  She said what she said, and it’s striking! Slayyyter wrote “BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE” with producers marvy ayy and Owen Jackson.

“BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE” commences with an intro that gradually grows louder – a crescendo! While the conversation is indecipherable without the text in front of you, Slayyyter provides insight: a drunk phone call with a friend, who proclaims, “I’m a fucking hillbilly.” It’s on brand for Slayyyter! After the intro sets the tone, an aggressive, hard-nosed backdrop, with pummeling drums, accompanies Slayyyter.  She feeds off of this badassery with her own – she eats with those blunt, unapologetic rhymes.  “Make it wet, wetter than the ocean, wet” needs no explanation, unless you’re that naïve… In the pre-chorus, she allows her bisexuality to run wild: “Wanna shake ass in my new jeans / Need a hot bitch to dance with me /… Need a nice man to roll my.” Ooh-wee! In the second verse, she informs us, “Pussy go berserk.” So, do we respond with an, ayy or merely a TMI?  The chorus is a big deal, varied with each iteration:

“Broke bitch

Got these sunglasses from the gas station

South Florida is where I’m meant to take vacation

Spent all my money, wanna run it back

I’m annoying to your famous friends

‘Cause I don’t give a fuck.”

She is 100% correct on the latter line. Ultimately, rough around the edges, unapologetic Slayyyter is the way we love our WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA!  “BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE” is brief, but once more, our electronic pop singer and rapper brings the heat.
