Ryan Beatty, Camo [Photo Credit: Boy in Jeans]After a lukewarm stint as a teen-pop artist years ago, Ryan Beatty returns older and ready to break through on “Camo,” the second single from his debut LP, ‘Boy in Jeans.’

“Camo print depression / I keep my feelings hidden / No pills, no thrills / I’m not used to winning / But that’s life, that’s life.” Some teen-pop artists thrive, while others fall flatter than a pancake.  For former California teen-pop artist Ryan Beatty, he never took off.  Did he let that stop his dream? No.  Now 22, the out and proud rising pop singer is dropping his debut album, Boy in Jeans, in July 2018.  “Camo” marks the second single appearing on the album, following “Bruise.”

“Camo” is intriguing from start to finish.  The production is fresh: mysterious, slick, and urban-tinged.  The beat helps “Camo” to stay afloat with its driving rhythm.  Beyond the superb backdrop fueling him, Ryan Beatty sounds absolutely terrific.  He blesses the track with a mixture of compelling, mid-range tenor and sweet falsetto.  Also, worth noting are the lyrics – which come off as a bit ‘all over the place,’ yet also personal.  The results are a quirky, yet incredibly intriguing record.

Final Thoughts

Who knows what Ryan Beatty is cooking up, but all indications are Boy in Jeans should be a delightful album.  “Camo” is definitely promising, left-of-centeredness and all.  Here, Beatty proves that ‘good things come to those who wait.’ As a 22-year old, he has a much better shot at impacting the pop music world.
