Niall Horan returns with “Little More Time,” a respectable if middle-of-the-road second single from his fourth studio album, Dinner Party.
One of the more exciting moments from “Little More Time” is the beginning. There is a striking sound effect. From there, the song settles into ‘middle-of-the-road’ pop. We hear this backdrop frequently. The sound is respectable and totally inoffensive, but not groundbreaking. As for Niall, he sings soundly, but he’s not particularly flashy. Do I buy what he is selling? Yes, but perhaps at a discounted rate… Spending life with that special somebody is on his mind. He goes so far as to reference decomposition: “Laying with you, just decomposing / Bury me in your bed.” Oh, my! The chorus is rhythmic, tuneful, and memorable enough:
“One more song ‘fore we’re saying goodbye
Just a little more time, just a little more time
One more drink or a bottle of wine
Just a little more time, just a little more time.”
All told, “Little More Time” is another ‘good’ Niall Horan song. Is it a great, truly memorable song? No. To reiterate, Horan is a talented fella, but far too often, his music is a wee bit… boring.
