Morgan Wallen Continues Dominance: Scanning the Charts No. 8 [πŸ“·: Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Pexels, Pixabay, Republic]Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (3/6/21): Morgan Wallen and Olivia Rodrigo continue their chart dominance.

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.  To reiterate what I said last week (πŸ“‰ The Weeknd Settles for No. 2: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 7), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that πŸ’© moving.  This week, I picked out SIX  notable observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰,  and THREE observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Morgan Wallen spending a sixth week atop the Billboard 200 with πŸ’Ώ Dangerous: The Double Album, while πŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo spends her sixth week atop the Billboard Hot 100 with β€œDrivers License”.

Morgan Wallen, Dangerous: The Double Album [πŸ“· : Big Loud / Republic]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Morgan Wallen was cancelled, but that hasn’t slowed πŸ’Ώ Dangerous: The Double Album, which spends its sixth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200.

πŸ’ Though πŸŽ™ The Weeknd sees πŸ’Ώ The Highlights slide from no. 2 to no. 8, his β€˜ace in the hole’, πŸ’Ώ After Hours, ascends from no. 37 to no. 2 in its 48th week on the chart.

πŸ’ With no new albums bowing in the top 10, πŸ’Ώ Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album (soundtrack) debuts at no. 12 as the highest debut.

πŸ’ It seems that the πŸŽ™ Florida Georgia Line train has slowed quite a bit.  The β€˜bro country’ duo debuts tepidly by their standards.  πŸ’Ώ Life Rolls On launches at no. 21 – yikes!

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ The Pretty Reckless impact the Billboard 200 as well, with πŸ’Ώ Death By Rock and Roll launching at no. 28.

πŸ’ The big takeaway should be that there are a number of underperforming new albums by big-named artists.  Pentatonix is among them as πŸ’Ώ The Lucky Ones bombs with its no. 123 start.  Awful start for the Grammy-winning a cappella darlings.

Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰

Olivia Rodrigo, "Drivers License" [πŸ“· : Olivia Rodrigo / Geffen]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo spends a sixth consecutive week at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œDrivers License”.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Lil Tjay and πŸŽ™ 6LACK earn the highest debut on the Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œCalling My Phone” which launches at no. 3.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Taylor Swift continues to do her thing. 🎡 β€œLove Story (Taylor’s Version)” debuts at no. 11.
