Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops served up. All genres are welcome, and both classics and new songs are recognized. So, without further ado, in the 54th  edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Ghost Tears” performed by M the Myth.

“Ghost tears, I don’t got ‘em / Ghost tears, I don’t want ‘em / Ghost tears, not one left / Ghost tears.”
Woo! Those tears, negative in this context, have dried up, thank goodness 😅! M the Myth (Michael Anthony Vang, he/she/they) said what they said on “Ghost Tears”! Matters of the heart rear their ugly head on this liberating, memorable pop cut.  There was an ugly season for the trans-nonbinary musician, but they overcame it 👏. Folks, take a page out of M’s book. “Ghost Tears” was written by M the Myth.  They also produced it alongside Niño Neon.

Poetically penned, M the Myth brilliantly paints a picture of two different people.  Of their former partner, they sing in the first verse, “You needed to hide, I changed for you / That’s not my life, I won’t dim my truth.” All relationships can be complicated. Queer relationships have another layer of complication, particularly regarding being out and proud versus closeted/down low.  M goes on to sing in the pre-chorus, “Been loving you for years / You’ve been wasting it on fear.” That suggests a lack of openness regarding the relationship, and dare I say, internalized homophobia.  They acknowledge, however, “Though your kisses were sincere.” Of course, the chorus, excerpted earlier, talks about those ghost tears, which are nowhere to be found! In the second verse, M is true to themself, thanks to exiting a bad situation: “And I’m lighter than I’ve ever been / I almost cried ‘cause I thought I need you / But I never did.” EMPOWERMENT to the nth degree! M the Myth sounds fabulous, singing about their T-R-U-T-H.  In other words, the vocals eat! The dash of falsetto is quite sweet. And do you know what else eats? The production. Mostly in a pop/rock style with keys/synths, the sound is bright, celebrating the end of a bad relationship. “Ghost Tears” is a must-hear for Pride 2026 and beyond.
