ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out SEVEN notable observations from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰,  and X observations from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Drake maintaining the no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for a third straight week while πŸŽ™ Lil Nas X bows at no. 2.

Billboard 200 πŸ“‰ 

Lil Nas X, Montero [πŸ“·: Columbia]πŸ’­ πŸŽ™ Drake spends a third consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with πŸ’Ώ Certified Lover.  Notably, Drake keeps πŸŽ™ Lil Nas X from debuting at no. 2.  The pop artist settles for a no. 2 start with his debut album, πŸ’Ώ Montero.

πŸ’­ K-pop collective πŸŽ™ NCT 127 arrives at no. 3 with πŸ’Ώ Sticker: The 3rd Album.

πŸ’­ Following two straight weeks at no. 2, after debuting robustly at no. 1, πŸŽ™ Kanye West sees πŸ’Ώ Donda slip to no. 4 in its fourth week on the charts. 

πŸ’­ How about some updates from last week’s highly touted newbies? πŸŽ™ Kacey Musgraves keeps it top-10 with πŸ’Ώ Star-Crossed, which descends from no. 3 to no. 10.  As for πŸŽ™ Baby Keem, he falls just outside of the top 10 with πŸ’Ώ The Melodic Blue, which dips from no. 5 to no. 12.  As for πŸŽ™ J Balvin, πŸ’Ώ Jose didn’t fare as well, sliding from no. 12 to no. 34. 

πŸ’­ πŸŽ™ Spiritbox earns the third highest debuting album on the Billboard 200, though it bows outside the top 10.  πŸ’Ώ Eternal Blue starts at a respectable no. 13. 

πŸ’­ The final debut in the top-20 of the Billboard 200 comes from πŸŽ™ Mozzy.  πŸ’Ώ Untreated Trauma launches at no. 19.

πŸ’­ πŸŽ™ Daughtry, once a great selling rock band, comes down to earth with πŸ’Ώ Dearly Beloved.  The American Idol alum’s latest album debuts modestly at no. 50.  Another Idol alum, winner πŸŽ™ Scotty McCreery, also debuts modestly.  πŸ’Ώ Same Truck starts unimpressively at no. 86.


Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰ 

The Kid LAROI, F*CK LOVE 3: OVER YOU [πŸ“·: Columbia]πŸ’­ πŸŽ™ The Kid LAROI and πŸŽ™ Justin Bieber spend a sixth, nonconsecutive week no. 1 with 🎡 β€œStay”.

πŸ’­ The πŸŽ™ Lil Nas X and πŸŽ™ Jack Harlow collaboration, 🎡 β€œIndustry Baby” returns to its peak position at no. 2 on the Hot 100.  Meanwhile, a new Nas X joint debuts at no. 10, 🎡 β€œThat’s What I Want.”

πŸ’­ πŸŽ™ Taylor Swift earns a top-40 debut with 🎡 β€œWildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” (no. 37).

πŸ’­ πŸŽ™ Elton John and πŸŽ™ Dua Lipa see 🎡 β€œCold Heart (PNAU Remix)” ascend to a new peak position – no. 74.  It rises from no. 98!

πŸ’­ πŸŽ™ Zac Brown Band sneaks onto the Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œSame Boat,” which bows at no. 98.
