ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isnโ€™t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out SEVEN notable observations from the Billboard 200 ๐Ÿ“‰,  and X observations from the Billboard Hot 100 ๐Ÿ“‰, with ๐ŸŽ™ Drake maintaining the no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for a third straight week while ๐ŸŽ™ Lil Nas X bows at no. 2.

Billboard 200 ๐Ÿ“‰ 

Lil Nas X, Montero [๐Ÿ“ท: Columbia]๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Drake spends a third consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Certified Lover.  Notably, Drake keeps ๐ŸŽ™ Lil Nas X from debuting at no. 2.  The pop artist settles for a no. 2 start with his debut album, ๐Ÿ’ฟ Montero.

๐Ÿ’ญ K-pop collective ๐ŸŽ™ NCT 127 arrives at no. 3 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Sticker: The 3rd Album.

๐Ÿ’ญ Following two straight weeks at no. 2, after debuting robustly at no. 1, ๐ŸŽ™ Kanye West sees ๐Ÿ’ฟ Donda slip to no. 4 in its fourth week on the charts. 

๐Ÿ’ญ How about some updates from last weekโ€™s highly touted newbies? ๐ŸŽ™ Kacey Musgraves keeps it top-10 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Star-Crossed, which descends from no. 3 to no. 10.  As for ๐ŸŽ™ Baby Keem, he falls just outside of the top 10 with ๐Ÿ’ฟ The Melodic Blue, which dips from no. 5 to no. 12.  As for ๐ŸŽ™ J Balvin, ๐Ÿ’ฟ Jose didnโ€™t fare as well, sliding from no. 12 to no. 34. 

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Spiritbox earns the third highest debuting album on the Billboard 200, though it bows outside the top 10.  ๐Ÿ’ฟ Eternal Blue starts at a respectable no. 13. 

๐Ÿ’ญ The final debut in the top-20 of the Billboard 200 comes from ๐ŸŽ™ Mozzy.  ๐Ÿ’ฟ Untreated Trauma launches at no. 19.

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Daughtry, once a great selling rock band, comes down to earth with ๐Ÿ’ฟ Dearly Beloved.  The American Idol alumโ€™s latest album debuts modestly at no. 50.  Another Idol alum, winner ๐ŸŽ™ Scotty McCreery, also debuts modestly.  ๐Ÿ’ฟ Same Truck starts unimpressively at no. 86.


Billboard Hot 100 ๐Ÿ“‰ 

The Kid LAROI, F*CK LOVE 3: OVER YOU [๐Ÿ“ท: Columbia]๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ The Kid LAROI and ๐ŸŽ™ Justin Bieber spend a sixth, nonconsecutive week no. 1 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œStayโ€.

๐Ÿ’ญ The ๐ŸŽ™ Lil Nas X and ๐ŸŽ™ Jack Harlow collaboration, ๐ŸŽต โ€œIndustry Babyโ€ returns to its peak position at no. 2 on the Hot 100.  Meanwhile, a new Nas X joint debuts at no. 10, ๐ŸŽต โ€œThatโ€™s What I Want.โ€

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Taylor Swift earns a top-40 debut with ๐ŸŽต โ€œWildest Dreams (Taylorโ€™s Version)โ€ (no. 37).

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Elton John and ๐ŸŽ™ Dua Lipa see ๐ŸŽต โ€œCold Heart (PNAU Remix)โ€ ascend to a new peak position โ€“ no. 74.  It rises from no. 98!

๐Ÿ’ญ ๐ŸŽ™ Zac Brown Band sneaks onto the Hot 100 with ๐ŸŽต โ€œSame Boat,โ€ which bows at no. 98.
