SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.Β  To reiterate what I said last week (πŸ“‰ Cardi B Moves Up to No. 1: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 12), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that πŸ’© moving.Β  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰, Β and FIVE observations πŸ”Ž from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Justin Bieber topping both charts.

Billboard 200 πŸ“‰Β

Justin Bieber, Justice [πŸ“·: Def Jam]πŸ’ As to be expected, πŸŽ™ Justin Bieber launches at a familiar spot on the Billboard 200 – no. 1.Β  πŸ’Ώ Justice didn’t deliver extraordinary numbers, but they were respectable and more than enough to make the top spot change hands for the first time in nearly three months.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Lana Del Rey was unable to beat Bieber for the top spot, but she did secure no. 2 with πŸ’Ώ Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Β She also managed to beat out the subject of the third takeaway…

πŸ’ After 10 consecutive weeks at no. 1, the reign of πŸŽ™ Morgan Wallen has finally ended. Mr. East Tennessee slips to no. 3 with πŸ’Ώ Dangerous: The Double Album.Β  Don’t cry too much for Wallen – his pockets are loaded with paper.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Fleet Foxes reenters the Billboard 200 with their 2020 album πŸ’Ώ Shore, which was reissued in an expanded edition.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Jon Batiste, known for being the bandleader on πŸ“Ί Late Night with Stephen Colbert and scoring the soundtrack to Disney/Pixar’s 🎦 Soul, debuts quietly at no. 86 with πŸ’Ώ We Are.

Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰Β

Justin Bieber, Justice [πŸ“·: Def Jam]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Justin Bieber also tops the Billboard Hot 100.Β  Assisted by πŸŽ™ Daniel Caesar and πŸŽ™ GIVΔ’ON, Bieber debuts at no. 1 with 🎡 β€œPeaches” (β€œI got my peaches out in Georgia (Oh, yeah, shit) / I get my weed from California (That’s that shit)”).Β  Of course, that’s not the only song to debut from πŸ’Ώ Justice.  🎡 β€œAs I Am” featuring πŸŽ™ Khalid launches at no. 43 and 🎡 β€œUnstable” featuring πŸŽ™ The Kid LAROI bows at no. 62 among many others on the bottom half of the Hot 100.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Cardi B was 🎡 β€œUp” to no. 1 for one week but slips to no. 2 following the ascent of β€˜The Biebz.’  Likewise, πŸŽ™ Silk Sonic and 🎡 β€œLeave the Door Open” dip from no. 2 to no. 3.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Lil Tjay, πŸŽ™ Polo G, and πŸŽ™ Fivio Foreign debut at no. 42 with 🎡 β€œHeadshot”.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Rod Wave sees β€œTombstone” bow at no. 82.Β  Worth noting, the single appears on his new album, πŸ’Ώ SoulFly, which was released Friday, March 26, 2021.

πŸ’ County singers πŸŽ™ Chris Young and πŸŽ™ Kane Brown score some chart love with 🎡 β€œFamous Friends,” which launches at no. 94.
