Jake Wesley Rogers, Lavender Forever | Beaming with Pride

In the 63^rd edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Lavender Forever” performed by pop singer-songwriter Jake Wesley Rogers.

Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops served up. All genres are welcome, and both classics and new songs are recognized. So, without further ado, in the 63^rd edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Lavender Forever” performed by Jake Wesley Rogers.

Jake Wesley Rogers sings in the first verse and continues, “You’re my lover; walk the plank, dragonfly.” It’s giving L-O-V-E in a big way, and the world needs love! The openly gay pop singer-songwriter excels on “Lavender Forever,” the second track from his LOVE (EP), released in 2022.  Lavender is significant and symbolic in many ways, including its association with calmness. Hey, there’s a reason I use lavender essential oils in the diffuser in my elementary music classroom 😉.  In the LGBTQ+ community, lavender is significant too. That lavender scare was something else 😳. But, moving beyond that checkered history, lavender is symbolic of empowerment and queer resistance. What I’m saying is that Wesley Rogers’ assertion of being lavender forever is quite special and thoughtful. Wesley Rogers, Justin Tranter, Eren Cannata, and producer Mike Crossey composed this undeniable lavender goodness!

“Lavender Forever” shines for many reasons.  It begins with the accompaniment: sublime piano riffs (Wesley Rogers), robust bass line, and stomping drum programming. The production is sleek and vibrant, with some truly creative moments.  Still, Jake Wesley Rogers is the star. He is magnificent, delivering expressive, nuanced vocals.  “Lavender Forever” is melodious throughout, while the lyrics are clever, poetic, and thoughtful throughout.  “I was born and bred in flowers / Someone stole my superpowers,” he sings in the pre-chorus, and adds, “Sun-kissed in my darkest hour / I realized I’ve been.”  What have you been, Jake? See the chorus, the crème de la crème:

“Lavender forever, hummingbird weather

Sticky, sticky fingers for life

Lavender forever, kiss it ‘til it’s better

Sticky, sticky fingers, alright.”

Beautiful! Beyond intriguing verses and a dynamic chorus, the bridge is nothing short of sensational (“I was born a lover / I will die that way”). Jake Wesley Rogers is one special fella. Songs like “Lavender Forever” show why the talented Midwestern musician deserves far more recognition.
