“You can find everything, you are longing for in our tracks.” Very interesting, 🎙 River Stole Gods! Please, elaborate! “Techy riffs, catchy hooks, some brutal breakdowns, and a progressive song build-up. Meaning, we have a well-balanced mix of everything you need in metal.” Rock on 🤘! Like our many other Getting to Know Q&As, we get the inside scoop on the progressive metalcore band’s genesis, goals, musical influences, and of course, current, and future musical endeavors. Adam answers our burning question. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into 🎤 Getting to Know… River Stole Gods: Interview No. 315!

For those who may not be familiar with River Stole Gods, what would you say makes you distinct or unique? How do you rock the audience’s socks off?

🎤 Adam: I think, what is special about us is that you can find everything, you are longing for in our tracks: techy riffs, catchy hooks, some brutal breakdowns, and a progressive song build-up. Meaning, we have a well-balanced mix of everything you need in metal.

Okay, let’s explore some juicy backstories. How did River Stole Gods form and what were some of the goals or visions you had early on?

🎤 Adam: The band was formed while eating fries and strolling through the city. Raphael and I found us via Facebook, as we both were looking for musicians, who would start a metal-ish band – that was in 2018. As soon as we met up, we knew, that we had to work together because everything just matched: lifestyle, music style, ambitions… In less than 2 months, we wrote nearly every song, you can find on our EP, 💿 Sky Architects. By 2019 we had found Lasse and the previous band members and started the ‘River Stole Gods’ journey.

Let’s talk more about goals.  Have your goals or your perspectives changed since first starting out? What do your aspirations or goals look like now?

🎤 Adam: I think, our goals didn’t change that much. We all do want to do music as a full-time thing, and we are trying to work on that. Perhaps we are not that naive anymore and know, it is a long way to make this thing happen.

Everybody is influenced by somebody else. Whom would you consider some of your biggest musical influences and how are they influential?

🎤 Adam: My biggest influences are Architects and Jon Stockman, bassist of progressive rock band Karnivool. Architects it is, because they brought me into metalcore and I think, they pretty much shaped the genre. And Jon Stockman is for me one of the most creative bassists ever: his sound and his playing are just mind blowing.

Ah, the fun stuff.  What’s your craziest tour story or the wackiest thing that’s happened during a performance?  Feel free to be creative.

🎤 Adam: Playing without a drummer very spontaneously, as he got Corona and told us the morning of our show. Thank God, Raphael had programmed the drum-parts of our songs – just to be safe – and so, we could perform the set with digital drums.

Up until this point in your career, what would you describe as your favorite song you’ve recorded or performed live? What makes that song special?

🎤 Adam: Actually, there are two favorite songs: 🎵 “Collapse” and 🎵 “Holding On”. “Collapse” is so special to me, as it is the first song Raphael and I ever wrote together, back in the early days, when it was just the two of us – and I really do enjoy the energy and the bass licks in there. “Holding On” as my second favorite marks a turning point in the band’s history and feels just great to play. I love the dynamics and the chorus so much, as well as the last breakdown in the song (so many triplets…).

River Stole GodsIs there anything else awesome, cool, or left-of-center the world should know about you? Secret talents or surprising tidbits?

🎤 Adam: With our latest release, 🎵 “Holding On,” we have kicked off the first chapter of our single trilogy, “New Eyes”. So be prepared for two more chapters this Winter.

Closing out, what is River Stole Gods currently working on, or promoting that you can share with us or want us to know about? We love secrets, but there’s no pressure.

🎤 Adam: We are working on an LP and are hoping to get into the studio next year to record new stuff for you and tour through Europe a little.

Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to answer these questions, and best of luck moving forward.

🎤 Adam: Thank you for having us!
