In the 15th edition of COVERS (2026), Gaither delivers a compelling rendition of “Majesty,” originally performed by Jack Hayford.
Ah, it’s time to get cozy and cover up! In COVERS, we highlight a musician or band covering songs by another musician. COVERS focuses solely on the musician who covers. It is open to established and lesser-known musicians. In the 15th edition of COVERS (2026), Gaither delivers a compelling rendition of “Majesty”, originally performed by Jack Hayford.
First and foremost, Jack Hayford penned some incredibly meaningful and powerful words of praise. Without his inspiration, from a trip to Great Britain, and of course, G-O-D, this magnificent, uplifting cover wouldn’t be possible. With the gorgeous choral vocals by some of the world’s most talented gospel musicians, those thoughtful words continue to pack a mighty punch. “Majesty, kingdom authority,” they sing in the opening verse, and continue, “Flow from His throne, unto His own / His anthem rise.” One of the best moments of the song is the bridge-like section (subject to interpretation on how you label it) that follows each verse. Here, the harmonic progression is varied, while the praise continues to reach an all-time high:
“So exalt, lift up on high
The name of Jesus
Magnify, come glorify
Christ Jesus the King.”
Beyond the word-class singing and songwriting, and some superb melodies and chords, the arrangement and orchestration stand out. Awesome to the nth degree, the sound is celestial, keeping the same energy as the words themselves. “Majesty, worship His Majesty; / Jesus, who died, now glorified, King of all kings!” Indeed! Gaither masterfully covers “Majesty”, a song of worship that never grows old. Check out an older rendition of this gem by Gaither below.
