“You know I hate to do this, but you keep on testing me / You know I hate to do this, but you’re getting in my face.”
Toronto-based R&B singer-songwriter DVYN (Iguehide Divine Ebomoyi) shows off her talent on her single, “In My Face”.  Written by herself, “In My Face” was produced by Yogic, Huncho Midas, and Charlieqe.  The song begins with an enigmatic, lush intro, led by a warm piano. Soon enough, a groove, led by neo-soul-sounding drums, provides a mighty anchor. Beyond the drums and piano, other instrumental highlights include an active, rhythmic bass line and the strings. The star of the show is DVYN, who lives up to her eclectic billing, fusing jazz, R&B, and soul. Her performance oozes with soulful vibes while barely breaking a sweat. The melodies are rhythmic, as DVYN expresses her concerns about presumably a relationship: “I run this back and forth, though I’ve been begging you to (Stop) / But you open up the door, and you put it on the floor.” Notably, the form of the song is simple: chorus, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, and an outro.  During the chorus, excerpted earlier, one of the ear-catching sounds is the low-pitched, rhythmic gang vocals.  It gives the song a striking sound.  In short, “In My Face” is a surefire vibe from an emerging talent that more folks need to be keyed into.  DVYN does her thing on this fabulous single.
