“What’s in this box? Expensive watch or Pandora Pangea? / Dropped out ‘cause it was futile / See ya.” Dominic Fike excels in the alternative music lane.  He also excels at looks – JUST SAYIN’!  Anyways, “Pangea” marks another intriguing moment from the talented, tatted-up hottie. “Pangea” is the third single and third track from his third studio album, How To Quit Smoking. Fike composed it, while Devin Workman produced it. Fike performs vocals and guitars (acoustic and electric). Workman plays drums and bass, while Stu Brooks also plays bass.

“Pangea” keeps things short and sweet, running under two and a half minutes.  Fike delivers musical goodness. The rhythmic acoustic guitar is prominent early on.  The electric guitar adds spice. Bass and drums solidify the music accompaniment; they’re ‘in the pocket.’ Fike blends smooth singing and agile, rhythmic rapping. The chorus is the crème de la crème:

“Champagne is cheap, this broad is not

A bride, we share a kiss now

Don’t weep for me, Dom P was cheap

Half empty flutes of Cristal

What’s in this box? Expensive watch or Pandora Pangea?

Dropped out ‘cause it was futile

See ya.”

During the raps (the verses), he lets some colorful swears fly.  “I stay away from double A, I think it’s trite,” he admits in the first verse, and adds, “If I fuck it up, I’m going back to the hood / I stay on fire like she axe split wood.” Word.  During the pre-chorus, he asserts, “Ayy, your hood is where my heart is / In your dingy-ass apartment.” Colorful, indeed. The second verse is striking too, with the likes of “I’m on road tracking to be trending like Labubus on Coach bags,” and “But I just want to see you with no frills and no mask / And you keep on running from me, baby, you nomad.” Don’t ever change, Dom! “Pangea” is captivating.  Only Dominic Fike could write and record something like this.  It’s not the second coming, mind you, but another ear-catching listen from the alt singer-songwriter.
