On the piano ballad, 🎵 “ICU (Madison’s Lullabye)” (💿 Dancing with the Devil… The Art of Starting Over), 🎙 Demi Lovato addresses her younger sister, Madison Lee De La Garza. “Tried to protect you, I wanna direct you / To keep you from my mistakes,” The 🏆 Grammy-nominated artist continues singing in the first verse. Lovato is vulnerable, singing about her overdose.  Take one listen and you can tell that “ICU (Madison’s Lullabye)” is a very authentic, genuine song, that comes from the heart. You buy what she’s selling.

The chorus is the centerpiece of “ICU”:

“Tuck your hair behind your ear

Until you fall asleep

I’ll say a prayer and keep you near

You’re always there with me

I promise I’ll be there, don’t worry

‘Cause I was blind, but now I see clearly

I see you, oh-oh.”

balancing a barbell on fingerThe big takeaway from 🎵 “ICU (Madison’s Lullabye)” is about resilience – overcoming a tremendous adversity.  Addiction is quite the obstacle, and Demi had to seek help in order to return to a healthier place.  Furthermore, being unable to see her sister until she became clean served as a catalyst for Lovato to get help – get back on the right foot. There is nothing uplifting about the ICU or addiction, but persevering past those ugly demons is worth celebrating.
