Scanning the Charts (8/25/21): Grammy-winning country music duo 🎙 Dan + Shay debut at no. 6 with their fourth studio album, 💿 Good Things.

Well, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out 10 notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and four observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Billie Eilish retaining the number one spot on the Billboard 200, 🎙 Dan + Shay bowing at no. 6, and 🎙 The Kid LAROI and 🎙 Justin Bieber retaining the top spot on the Hot 100.

💭 🎙 Billie Eilish spends a third consecutive week at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 💿 Happier Than Ever.

💭 🏆 Grammy-winning country music duo 🎙 Dan + Shay debut at no. 6 with their fourth studio album, 💿 Good Things.

💭 Rap duo 🎙 $uicideBoy$ debut at no. 7 with 💿 Long Term Effects of Suffering.  

💭 🎙 The Killers debut at no. 9 on the Billboard 200 with 💿 Pressure Machine.

💭 Just outside the top 10, 🎙 YNM Melly debuts at no. 11 with 💿 Just a Matter of Slime.

💭 🎙 Ben Platt debuts at no. 84 with his sophomore album, 💿 Reverie.  Reverie deserved better!

💭 Pop singer/songwriter and producer 🎙 blackbear debuts at no. 102 with 💿 Misery Lake (EP).

💭 Going solo isn’t always what it cracked up to be, apparent.  🎙 Luke Hemmings (of 🎙 5 Seconds of Summer) sees his debut solo album, 💿 When Facing the Things We Turn Away From bow tepidly at no. 124.

💭 🎙 Still Woozy (Sven Gamsky), sees his debut album, 💿 If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is, debut modestly at no. 150.

💭 Disappointingly, 🏆 Academy award and Grammy-winning singer/actress 🎙 Jennifer Hudson sees 💿 Respect (Soundtrack) barely dent the chart at no. 151. Ouch!

Billboard Hot 100 📉 

💭 🎙 The Kid LAROI and 🎙 Justin Bieber remain at no. 1 on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Stay”.  

💭 🎙 Lizzo and 🎙 Cardi B earn the highest debut on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Rumors”.

💭 🎙 Machine Gun Kelly launches at no. 79 with 🎵 “Papercuts”.

💭 🎙 Elton John and 🎙 Dua Lipa debut at no. 81 on “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)”.
