Are you ready to beam with P-R-I-D-E? Beaming with Pride highlights songs by LGBTQ musicians and allies, offering background, analysis, and discussion of the decadent bops served up. All genres are welcome, and both classics and new songs are recognized. So, without further ado, in the 67th  edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “Girl, Hold Tight (Marsha P)” performed by Crush Club.

“You can spot her from a mile away / You watch her as she walks on by.”
Word.  Who are Crush Club referencing? The one-and-only Marsha P. Johnson (1945 – 1992), of course! Vocalist TC Milan (Thomas Hennes), one half of the duo – multi-instrumentalist  Le Chev (Michael Cheever) is the other half – goes on to sing of the LGBTQ+ activist, “She doesn’t care what people say / She shows her teeth and hits her stride.” Crush Club wrote and produced a dynamite dance cut with the commemorative “Girl, Hold Tight (Marsha P)”.

Johnson to the fullest!

“She says girl, hold tight

Listen to your heart’s own rhythm

It gets you through the night

Girl, hold tight

Gotta live the life you’re livin’

Keep dancing in the light.”

With the verses and choruses covered, the bridge deserves a shoutout, too! We get some contrast, which keeps the record engaging to the nth degree. “Oooh, dancing in the, dancing in the light.” The drop goes incredibly hard. The intensity remains just shy of the end. “Girl, Hold Tight (Marsha P)” is an awesome tribute to an LGBTQ+ icon, and an enduring LGBTQ+ dance record for any time of the year.
